Yeah so I hadn't 1CC'ed this shmup yet. Probably should have done it a long time ago, but I just never felt like it! It's not exactly the most difficult shmup in the world when you discover its silly secret - most of the enemies in this game can't hit you when you're on the left or right sides of the screen. Occasionally there's an enemy over there or a turret that will shoot a bullet at you, but for the most part you don't have to engage with anything going on in the middle of the screen. Until you get to a boss, which you do have to fight.... although they do time out so you don't HAVE to fight them either I suppose. What a game.
For some reason this has a RetroAchievements set so I decided to double up the 1CC attempt with the cheevos, although I had the notifications turned off. As a result I got everything in the first go except for one last achievement that required shooting some stuff with the awful Beam weapon. If you really need to see that for whatever reason then click the VOD below.

NES Shinobis kind of a mess, pretty easy to get through if you can beat the awful 2nd boss that apparently pushed the hardware to its limits. Damageless stuff was annoying but it didnt take too long.
Sky Shark... I hadnt heard much about but holy shit what a ridiculous port. Gigantic hitboxes, wide-ass screen, you have to stop firing shots just to be able to use a bomb... it was very frustrating")

Somehow I hadnt played the Mega CD version of Ninjawarriors for RA yet, so I had to rectify that! Obviously not an arcade perfect port but its playable enough... or at least it feels that way compared to the PC Engine version. Yeesh, that game is rough. That blue ninja on stage 5 can go to hell. Did not finish the game on Hard difficulty, Ill come back to this...")
