This game was everywhere in the 90's, but I was never all that good at it. It was certainly fun enough for a casual play, but I never tried to learn any 1-credit strats for it. Maybe it's because the game has no scoring system?
But also this game is HARD. You have 1 life by default and enemies will often take out like ~40% of a lifebar in one combo. It is possible to accrue enough health items to start building up a second bar, but it's hard to keep that health up. So much can go wrong at any given time in the game. As such, this did take me quite a few attempts.
P1 and P2 have nearly identical movesets with slight tweaks. P2 seems to have a faster KKK combo so that seems pretty important?
I used an old-ass version of MAME (0.146) for this because on more recent versions the game tends to slow to a crawl during the QTE scenes. I'm told this game runs great on the MiSTer but I don't have one.

The RA set for Streets of Rage 2 got a major overhaul so it seemed like a good excuse to play SOR2 again. Had to go through the game with all 4 characters, of course Normal was no problem. Managed to get the 1CC on Hardest with Axel which I fucked up last time. As for Mania... um... I have to learn some more specific strats before Im ready for that again")

Last time I streamed this was back in February 2022 and I forgot to export the VOD to youtube! Dangit! So I decided to re-tackle it with cheevos this time. Almost mastered the set but came up one short, requires a deathless run at this point (or good luck with the 1ups on Stage 5 because apparently theyre RNG?? how fun). Maybe Ill try to knock off that last achievement at some point in the near future, who knows, who knows")
