Electronic mail - linking a computer to the telephone network using a modem - is one of the fastest growing areas of personal computer use. Lesley Judd takes a flight to Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands, armed with her trusty portable computer and an acoustic coupler, to see just how easy it is to send an email back to Britain.
