As part of an Easter Monday tradition going back to 1770, the tiny Leicestershire village of Hallaton does battle with its neighbour, Medbourne. The two main events are Hare Pie Scrambling and Bottle-Kicking, which centre on throwing food and fighting over barrels of beer.

If you’re looking for an Easter holiday of bunnies, bruises and brutality, you’ve come to the right place.

Clip taken from A Taste of Britain: Forard, Forard, originally broadcast on BBC Two, Tuesday 8 August, 1978.
