We are working our way through the 1973-1974 television season, and as we reach May, we come upon the ending in May 1974 of the first (and only) season of The Magician, which debuted on October 2, 1973. By mid-season in early 1974, the series made some tweaks to the opening credits, highlighting Bill Bixby's magician skills off-camera.

The series starred Bill Bixby, and the pilot for the series debuted on the network the prior spring (see our 1972-73 archives). For the first season episodes, the opening and closing credits and open were altered slightly, but the general graphics and theme song remained. A nice series about a magician who solves crimes, and with star Bill Bixby an amateur magician as well, the casting was perfect.

We talked about The Magician TV series earlier this season, and now, enjoy the second opening sequence featuring one of television most well liked actors, Bill Bixby, which now highlighted his magician skills off camera.
