TelevisionVanguard | Dean Martin Celebrity Roast on NBC - Dean and Ronald Reagan roast Man of Hour Bob Hope @TelevisionVanguard | Uploaded 1 month ago | Updated 5 hours ago
As we near the completion of our season long tribute to the 1973 to 1974 television season this summer, we are wrapping up that process with an extra focus on both Dean Martin and Lucille Ball. They both were essentially ending their long runs on weekly television in the spring./summer of 1974.
As Dean's show ended in 1974, he ramped up his schedule for his Celebrity Roast specials on NBC. These Celebrity Roasts that Dean hosted independent of his weekly variety show, ran on NBC from 1974-1984. On this video clip, Bob Hope is roasted in the mid-1970s.
In total, there were 54 Roasts, of which 29 were NBC stand alone specials, and 25 that originated as part of The Dean Martin Variety Show.
