Happy Valentine's Day to all!

We were looking at various clips to presented today in honor of Valentines' Day, and saw this clip as we searched various library media in our library (' the vault') collection. Loved the song, the talented Mr. Goulet, and all the pretty ladies in their colorful gowns. They don't (can't?) make them like this anymore.

So-ooo, we're reminiscing and reflecting back on the fall 1973-1974 television season, and throughout this season, we'll be paying tribute to The Dean Martin Variety Show, which was on its final season. We'll be stopping back to say hi to Dean and the gang throughout this '73-'74 season, and all the fun moments that took place throughout the nine years the show ran on the air at NBC.

Today, as we continue our season-long look back at The Dean Martin Variety Show, we look back at some of the really nice and (by today's standards) somewhat unusual musical number.

By season two in the fall of 1966, much had changed in the television landscape, as not only had color filming of series become mandated by the FCC and television industry, but color television sets also hit the market in a big way. Now television series really need to 'up their game' in the way of staging and sets and lighting and vibrate colors... from set to wardrobes, to opening and closing title credit sequences on each episode, producers and directors were bringing out their 'A-game' plans and operations.

We had this in mind as we saw this musical number with Robert Goulet from December 8, 1966, singing 'I'll Take Romance.'

This video clip is presented here on YouTube for the entertainment and informational value of the viewer, and no copyright infringement is intended.

Enjoy.
