Any time you find a clock and you decide to just blow it out and oil the clock movement, if it runs, leave it run for 24 hours before doing any other adjustment such as adjusting the speed of the time, slow cuckooing if you can't figure out why sooner. Sometimes the clock has to work the oil in and loosen the dried oil in the pivots.
With this clock I try better to explain what I am doing with the movement and why. This clock would not cuckoo on the 1/2 hour because someone turned the hands counter clock wise and bent the lever that triggers the cuckoo sound. Learn with me and together we might even solve your clocks problem.

Here I do most of my work on clocks. Mainly cuckoo clocks, yet I am always looking for the unusual and eye catching clocks. Some of the clocks I get into are ones that need saved from the dump. They fell off the wall from not securing the clock to the wall using the stud behind the sheetrock. Some of the clocks were laid to rest out in the garage or barn and I except the challenge of getting them back together again.
A well loved clock at one time is one that has a lot of wear and you find old bushings that might need to be replaced.
