This wasn’t supposed to take this long…
What started as helping a friend fix his dream 1964 VW Westfalia quickly turned into something way bigger. After getting burned by a shop that left the bus in rough shape, we stepped in to give it a second chance… but this thing is fighting us every step of the way.
What we thought would be a simple cleanup and finish has turned into a full-on rescue mission. Every time we dig deeper, we find more problems, more shortcuts, and more reasons this build is taking WAY longer than expected.
But we’re not giving up on it.
In this episode, we keep pushing forward—fixing what we can, uncovering what we didn’t expect, and trying to bring this abandoned VW bus back to life.

If you’ve been struggling with your 3D printer lately, you’re not alone. Many enthusiasts face hiccups with their machines, but the good news is that fixing them doesn’t have to be an expensive or time-consuming ordeal. In today’s video, we’ll show you a quick and easy fix for your garage 3D printer using an affordable part that you can find almost anywhere. Say goodbye to frustrating printing problems, and hello to smooth, high-quality creations! Before we dive into the repair, let’s talk about some common issues that 3D printers face. Whether it’s layer misalignment, inconsistent extrusion, or bed adhesion problems, these issues can lead to disappointing prints. Often, the culprit can be something as simple as a worn-out part. In today’s tutorial, we’ll focus on one of the most common issues: a faulty extruder gear that can cause inconsistent filament feeding. To begin, gather your tools and the replacement part. You’ll need a small screwdriver, a wrench, and the affordable extruder gear that we’ll be installing. You can find these gears at local hardware stores or online for a fraction of the cost of major repairs. Now, let’s get started with the step-by-step guide. First, ensure that your 3D printer is powered off and unplugged. Safety should always be your top priority! Next, remove the filament from the printer. This will give you better access to the extruder assembly. Once the filament is out, locate the extruder gear on the printer. This is often found on the side of the extruder assembly. Use your screwdriver to carefully remove the screws securing the gear in place. Make sure to keep these screws in a safe spot, as you’ll need them to attach the new gear. After removing the screws, gently pull the old extruder gear off the motor shaft. If it’s stuck, a little wiggle should help dislodge it. Now it’s time to install the new extruder gear. Align it with the motor shaft and push it into place. It should fit snugly but not require excessive force. Reattach the screws you removed earlier, ensuring that the gear is secure but not over-tightened, as this could damage the motor. With the new gear in place, it’s time to reinsert the filament. Select a filament that works well with your printer, and feed it through the extruder. Power up your 3D printer and run a test print.
