✎ Happy 15th Anniversary to How To Train Your Dragon!!!! This is my tribute to the greatest friendship in history, with my favorite film, to my favorite song, by my favorite artist. (Yes, that's a lot of favorites ;)
Those that have known me for all these years, know how much I LOVE this song and how dear it is to my own heart. For one, it encapsulates Hiccup & Toothless' friendship deeper then any song for me, and secondly, it was the first amv I ever watched that inspired me to edit in the first place.
I vowed back in 2011, when I first started editing, I would make a video for these 2 once the Trilogy was completed, however long that would take. I made a vid with the Celtic Women version
youtube.com/watch?v=p7n-EULFMDw back in 2013 to bid the time till I could do the OG version. At long last, I have fulfilled my OG goal, only took 14 years, ahehe.
I wanted to upload it on a special occasion, like the 10th anniversary, but that was one heck of a year with COVID and finishing my senior thesis for college, all hitting in the same month. So that was out. 2025 it was and now here we are 15 years later with 3 films, 5 shorts, 8 season tv series with 116 episodes to sort through, and of course the new Live Action coming out. I tried to fit as many parallels as possible across them!!
I also wanted to try and incorporate the books in some way since they are truly what started it all. (Even if they are quite different, no matter what medium, Hiccup & Toothless' bond is strong!) You would think that being my favorite song and film would make this vid easy to make but surprisingly it was one of the hardest for me. First off, I can't express why, but I get so emotional hearing this song with these two so I was quite simply slow. Secondly, I put a lot of extra pressure on myself to make it "perfect" and consequently I would procrastinate working on it. I had to force myself each night to power through those feelings and just EDIT to make this deadline. Also, because this project is so old it was extremely difficult to work in cause it would crash sooooooo much more then any other project...some nights it was just baby steps progressing. Its a wonder it even still opened.
This vid definitely is NOT my best work, but I can live with it. Watching it is like seeing 14 years growing pains in my editing styles in one, aha. To finish this vid after all these years is a personal triumph!! I am proud of that, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. (Now that its done, lol!)

Okay....so I manged to pull an old project outta the shadows and make one final upload before school starts. HA!
Ive had A LOT of inspiration for Star Wars lately. This was the 1st one I started once The Last Jedi came out in HD and Ive been dragging my feet on the last 10 secs I suppose. Eh, it always looks better in my head than on YT but oh well.
I FREAKIN CANNOT WAIT FOR EPISODE IX THIS YEAR!!!! OMG, next to HTTYD3, & Frozen 2, THIS movie has me most hyped. I guess its my most anticipated live action film you could say. Dont get me wrong, I am SUPER PUMPED for Marvel with End Game but.....IDK, Star Wars has more of my heart right now. Maybe it was how Infinity War ended. It was good but didnt it leave ya with a kinda numb, dead feeling inside when you walked out of the theater?? I know The Last Jedi is the most criticized, hated Star Wars film by most, but for me, it is my FAVORITE! And when I walked outta that theater after first watching it, Im still reeling from it all to this day. xD
Also this is my 2nd vid after upgrading to Vegas Pro 16. I would say yay but, eh ever since MAGIX bought out Vegas from Sony I feel its gotten much more unstable. Editing vids now is such an ordeal; it seems to crash all the time now! Hopefully itll get patched up. On the plus side, I have a ton load of new effects I dont know what to do with. I used several here....maybe thats why it crashes every 5 mins. Ugh.

I kept the letterbox (black bars), or made it non-fullscreen. That is a first since my very very very 1st HTTYD vid. Why you ask? Well, Ive been into the cinematic editing style and trying to mimic it. Black bars isnt necessary but it seems cooler. The key technique that makes it cinematic IMHO, are Action Cuts/Transitions. So thats what I was practicing here...at least 1:03 to the end. Thats the only part Id say to qualify as being more cinematic, but its still a mess. Cinematic has become my favorite style of editing I would like to master xD
