12 Weird References in Fallout New Vegas (in text form)
12. The REPCONN Aerospace facility is one of the most iconic in the game, but it’s actually a reference to the PEPCONN disaster that took place 10 miles outside of Las Vegas on May 4, 1988, which killed 3 people and injured hundreds more. The explosions that occurred caused a 3.0 magnitude earthquake to shatter windows at the nearby McCarran Airport, also in New Vegas, and battered a Boeing 737 that was landing at the airport.
11. The soldier President Kimball is awarding a medal to during his speech at Hoover Dam, Private Jeremy Watson, is pretty similar to Forrest Gump. They share similar haircuts and are both in the army, neither are particularly bright, both saved a platoon of soldiers, Watson at Forlon Hope and Gump in the Vietnam War, and of course they both receive a medal from the President.
10. The Wild Wasteland trait adds many unique things to the Mojave Wasteland. One of them is that if you talk to Rex, you have the chance to get a map marker which shows the location of someone named Jimmy who fell into a well. This is a reference to Lassie who found people who got stuck in wells for some reason.
9. The dinosaur in Novac, named Dinky the Dinosaur, is a reference to two real-world dinosaurs; Dinny the Dinosaur, a Brontosaurus and Mr. Rex, a T Rex, both of whom are located in Cabazon, California.
8. Magazines are fairly common across the world of Fallout New Vegas. Patriot’s Cookbook, one such magazine, is a reference to the controversial Anarchist Cookbook which contained instructions for creating homemade explosives. The in-game magazine’s cover has a “BANNED MATERIAL Mark for burn” stamped on it.
7. During your investigation of the White Glove Society, you might encounter an investigator by the name of Crusoe. It's possibly a reference to David Caruso, who has played investigator roles on NYPD: Blue and CSI: Miami. This becomes more apparent with the Wild Wasteland trait enabled, as the investigator has Caruso's red hair and sunglasses.
6. There are a surprising amount of biblical references in New Vegas, enough to warrant its own video, however, one of the more interesting in New Vegas comes from the quest Render Unto Caesar, which is a reference to a passage from Mark 12:17 which reads: “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.”
5. Veronica Santangelo, a companion, will sometimes have sporks in her inventory. Veronica’s voice actress, Felecia Day, played Penny in Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, in which her character often used a spork to eat frozen yogurt.
4. The Gun Runners’ Arsenal DLC added some new challenges to New Vegas. One, entitled “Even a God-King Can Bleed”, requires you to use a Throwing Spear to cripple Caesar’s head. This references the movie 300, in which Leonidas of Sparta declares that by the end of the battle he will prove that even a God-king can bleed. Then he proves it by throwing a spear which gently slices through Xerxes’s cheek.
3. Every companion will make comments throughout their adventures with the Courier. With Cass as a companion, when sneaking, she will sometimes say “Be very, very quiet, we’re huntin’ shit heads”. This is a reference to Elmer Fudd’s quote: "Be vewy, vewy quiet; I'm huntin' wabbits.”
2. Another fun Gun Runners’ Arsenal challenge is “You Don’t Belong In This World!”. In it, you must kill 10 abominations using katanas, dynamite, machetes, throwing spears, throwing knives, or throwing hatchets.
1. Part of the G.I Blues quest has you go to Old Mormon Fort located in Freeside, where you will find three men, named Roy, Wayne, and Farris. Put together, their names are Roy Wayne Farris, which is the real name of professional wrestler The Honky Tonk.

![Can You Beat Honest Hearts Without Taking Any Damage?
Honest Hearts is usually considered to be the worst of Fallout New Vegas’s 4 DLCs. It’s not bad or anything, but aside from Joshua Graham, it’s not really the most interesting DLC, nor is it the hardest. But what if there was a way to change that. Can You Beat Fallout New Vegas’s Honest Hearts DLC Without Taking Any Damage? (in text form)
Every DLC in New Vegas has a level requirement, a level at which the developers suggest you be at before you start a specific DLC. For Honest Hearts, that happens to be level 10. Now, I could dump skill points into Speech and Guns and steamroll through everything. But I want to go into Honest Hearts with as bland a character as possible. So, I somewhat evenly distributed my SPECIAL points, picked Speech, Guns, and Medicine as my Tag skills, chose Wild Wasteland and Trigger Discipline as my Traits, and began the leveling process. I used console commands to do this, to give myself the minimum amount of experience required to get to Level 10. As I leveled up, I evenly distributed Skill points across all skills, aside from my Tag skills. In retrospect, I should have made every skill the same, but with Medicine being literally worthless since I can’t take damage in the first place, I figure those wasted skill points balance things out.
Regarding weapons and armor, I’m going in with only what I get from the DLC packs I have installed. No stopping at Chet’s store or the Gun Runners to stock up on supplies. Also, because the point is to beat only Honest Hearts without taking damage, I didn’t mess with my health until I got to the start of the DLC. I had a bit of problem with some Deathclaws and Geckos on my way to the Northern Passage, but the video isn’t about them.
After about 30 minutes of wasted time, I finally arrived at the Northern Passage where I could speak to Jed Masterson, convince him that I was a big strong boy, and put what I had to in the special box to get myself down to 100 pounds of supplies. I only had 124 pounds of stuff when I left Doc Mitchell’s House, so finding 24 pounds of stuff to drop off wasn’t all that difficult, especially since the Lightweight Metal Armor from the Mercenary DLC Pack weighs 20 pounds by itself. With my supplies set, I dropped my max health down to 1 so that any damage of any kind [boop]s me, told Jed that I was ready to hit the ol’ dusty trail, and we made our way for New Cannaan, which, if you were wondering, is about 380 miles Northeast of Las Vegas. Or, put another way, it’s a little over 24,000,000 Cheese-Its away from Las Vegas.
In the cold nights on the road, I snuggled close to Jed’s beard to keep warm. The way into Zion Canyon was a one way street according to Stella. Luckily, I wouldn’t have to listen to her run her mouth at Jed for too much longer, as we were ambushed by White Legs, who [booped] everyone besides me. I fired somewhat haphazardly into the tree line, eventually striking and [booping] one of the White Legs with one of my bullets. With the corpses of my fallen companions looted, I could press onward into the Canyon.
That self-confidence faded after an altercation with 2 more White Horses on the west end of the bridge. Then it got trampled into the dirt when even more White Horses emerged from their rocky hideouts to attack me with their fancy automatic rifles. If you hadn’t figured it out by now, the key to not dying when any damage of any kind [boops] you is to avoid getting hit by a stray bullet. That becomes nearly impossible when someone is capable of firing dozens of times in your direction in mere seconds.

![The Chosen One - A God Among Men (Fallout 2)
The Chosen One from Fallout 2 is arguably the most powerful man in Fallout history. His feats are many, his influence upon the wasteland is almost unrivaled, and he defeated the most frightening mutant ever created. In this video, I’ll be explaining why The Chosen One is a God among Men.

The Chosen One - A God Among Men (in text form)
To understand the strength of the Chosen One, we must first look where he came from. The Chosen One was born in the mid 2220’s to a set of parents whose name nobody knows. His grandparents, specifically his grandfather, is one of the most revered men on the west coast. A New California Republic Legend, The Chosen One’s grandfather is non other than the Vault Dweller himself. After his exile from Vault 13, the Vault Dweller established Arroyo in 2167. After taking a wife and teaching his fellow tribe members what he could, he left to explore the Wasteland. In 2209, he helped a Brotherhood of Steel Initiate defeat Attis’ Army in the Secret Vault. What happened after that, is a mystery.
My point is, it is in the Chosen One’s very DNA to be a leader, he was always destined for greatness. From the time he could walk, he was trained to be Arroyo’s next Elder, to take the reigns from his mother, the long-reigning elder of Arroyo and the daughter of the Vault Dweller. Not only would he be their elder, he would be their champion as well. The Chosen One was groomed to be the pinnacle of what Arroyo had to offer.
However, as the Chosen One thrived in his position, Arroyo did not. Their community was falling apart. The only man who could save them was The Chosen One. And, much like his grandfather, he left behind everything he knew to save his people, because there was nobody else who could.
I’m not going to give a mission-by-mission review of everything the Chosen One did in Fallout 2. His feats are many, so we’ll just focus on the big ones.
And they don’t get any bigger than Frank Horrigan. Who is Frank Horrigan? He is quite possibly the strongest and toughest human-esque being to ever exist in the Fallout timeline. Super Mutants themselves are already tough as nails, and a specialized suit of Power Armor for anyone with combat training makes them an angel of death on the battlefield. Now imagine a 12ft tall Super Mutant genetically altered by the Enclave that was grafted into a custom made suit of Power Armor and equipped with cybernetic upgrades like bionic eyes to improve his vision and mechanized arms to give him even more strength. Frank Horrigan is more like a walking nuclear warhead than a mortal man. He once ripped a Deathclaw in half with his bare hands. HE RIPPED A DEATHCLAW IN HALF. Horrigan is also one of only 3 Fallout antagonists to have a 10 in every SPECIAL stat. Just listen to him talk and tell me you wouldn’t be shitting bricks if you heard this: [Horrigan quote]
Who can possibly stop a creature like Frank Horrigan? The Chosen One, that’s who. Frank Horrigan is, to quote Bronn from Game of Thrones: “Freakish big and freaking strong, and quicker than you’d expect for a man of that size”. But still, The Chosen One is able to take him down. It is not at all an easy fight, it’s one of the toughest combat sequences in any Fallout game, regardless of what difficulty you’re on.
Defeating Frank Horrigan in and of itself is a hell of a feat, enough so he’d be talked about as a man of legend years after he dies. But, there’s more. When The Chosen One boarded the Enclave Oil Rig, killing Frank Horrigan wasn’t even his primary goal, it was to stop the Enclave.
I’m not gonna go too in-depth here, because the video is about The Chosen One, not necessarily Fallout 2. Think of it this way. There’s the Brotherhood of Steel, right? The main chapter in the Capital Wasteland headquartered in the Citadel, then there’s the west coast chapter in the Mojave Wasteland. The Mojave Chapter are not pushovers, but they’re not nearly the dominant force the East Coast chapter is. That’s the Enclave. Compared to the Enclave in Fallout 2, what you see in Fallout 3 is nothing.
