Suryanamaskar, or Sun Salutation, has been practiced in Bharat for centuries. It’s called ‘saluting the sun’ because the sun represents life and energy. Practicing it at sunrise helps connect your body and mind with that energy, waking you up and preparing you for the day. ☀️
Start with just 1 round, then slowly, with consistent practice, increase the number of rounds. Each movement works your whole body while coordinating with your breath:
- Pranamasana – Prayer pose, hands at chest
- Hasta Uttanasana – Raised arms pose, backbend
- Padahastasana – Standing forward fold
- Ashwa Sanchalanasana – Equestrian pose, right leg back, chest open
- Parvatasana – Mountain pose, hips up (like an inverted V)
- Ashtanga Namaskara – Eight-point salute, knees–chest–chin on floor
- Bhujangasana – Cobra pose, chest lifted
- Parvatasana – Back to mountain pose
- Ashwa Sanchalanasana – Left leg forward, chest open
- Padahastasana – Forward fold
- Hasta Uttanasana – Raised arms pose, backbend
