In this episode, I explore fascinating shell mound structures found along the South Atlantic coast of the US and in the Amazon basin that pose significant challenges to young earth creationist chronology. I examine how these massive accumulations of shells - some containing hundreds of millions of individual shells - formed gradually through human activity over thousands of years.
Using simple calculations about shell accumulation rates and sustainable harvesting, I demonstrate why these structures required much more time to form than the compressed young earth timeline allows. The evidence suggests these shell fishing settlements existed between 5,000-3,800 years ago along the Atlantic coast, and up to 10,000 years ago in the Amazon - timeframes that conflict with creationist models requiring all human settlement to occur after the Tower of Babel (~4,200 years ago).

This represents yet another example where the actual physical evidence we find in the world is difficult or impossible to reconcile with young earth creationist chronology.
