Young-earth creationists are heading to the Alaskan permafrost to hunt for dinosaur DNA, and honestly, I think it's about time. This is exactly the kind of testable prediction I've been asking them to make.
In episode 86 of This Week in Creationism I look at the Creation Research Society's Alaska expedition and the crowdfunding push behind it, and I explain what a genuinely discriminating prediction about ancient DNA would have to look like. Then I turn to Pando, the giant aspen clone in Utah I visited last summer, and show why Creation Ministries International's short response ignores the volcanic substrate, the Ice Age, the growth rates, and the ancient charcoal on site. Finally, I give Ken Ham real credit for taking on the so-called Curse of Ham and the racism it has been used to justify, while pointing out the problem his own hyper-speciation model creates for the claim that all humans are one race. I close with a look at some social media claims about mutations and information, and a preview of a video on a New Creation Blog article that argues creationists actually need beneficial mutations.
