Angela Fehr Watercolour | 10 Years on YouTube! How my watercolor must-have list has changed since 2012 @angelfehr | Uploaded January 2022 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
Ten years ago today, I published my first YouTube video. Since then my life has changed and I've been able to teach watercolor to students all over the world, travel, and build a career that I love!
My kids are growing up (but still making noise) and the supplies I recommend to new painters has grown up a bit too! Let's look at what I am using and recommending in 2022:
(please note that I receive an affiliate commission for some of the products linked in this description, thank you!!)

Brushes:

Use what you have - a soft synthetic or natural hair round brush is a great all-purpose brush to have, and can be used for 90% of your painting practice:
#8 or #10 is great if you are painting around 9x12 inch paintings.

Rosemary & Co Synthetic brushes: bit.ly/2tXeZPa

Escoda Versatil #10 rigger from Blick Art Materials: bit.ly/3DekEDb
(this is the longer bristled brush I demonstrated)

Sword, Dagger or Liner Brush: I like the dagger style because it makes beautiful strokes with the side of the brush, as well as beautiful delicate lines. Mine is the Loose Goose Dagger Striper #1 from Cheap Joe's Art Stuff: bit.ly/2ls9rZm

Palettes:
My big palette is the 18 inch, 64 well palette from Robax: robax.com/palettes.html

Smaller palettes shown today:
Pink palette holds 18 colors: amzn.to/348YoyJ
Blue holds 24 colors: amzn.to/3rWfvfx

Paint:
I love using Daniel Smith watercolor paints. The colors in my dot card are listed and available for order here: bit.ly/32c8y12

Paper:
Hahnemühle "The Collection" cold press, 140 lb watercolor block:

In Canada, you can order Hahnemühle from Opus Art Supplies: opusartsupplies.com

Arches cold press watercolor pads: bit.ly/3rgPAg2

Don't forget to include in your watercolor kit:
a spray bottle
2 water containers
masking tape
a paint support (mine is corrugated plastic - Corplast)
and a dish drying mat to catch the drips!
