DelzethinDesigning movesets for Smash Bros. is a complicated and surprisingly deep process. Adapting a character's canon abilities while keeping them balanced, fun to play, and unique among the roster (echo fighters aside) takes a trained hand, and it's something Sakurai and the other developers have handled very well...with occasional exceptions. And when a character's moveset doesn't feel quite right, Smash fans start asking for the next game to...remake it.
This episode, we're focusing on one of the standout examples of a moveset that doesn't feel quite right. Ganondorf may have snuck into Melee by virtue of pulling off a copy of Captain Falcon's moveset, but the more time has passed, the worse it's aged. If the next title were to give the Demon King the overhaul many have been waiting for, how could it be done in a way that enhances his moveset, plays more closely to his source material, and makes him more competitively viable while keeping enough traits of his current moveset to avoid abandoning the fans he already has? Let's see how that might play out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619

Smash has seen a whole lot of fighters across its history, with a variety of design ideas going into them. Guest fighters in particular often feel like they walked right out of their home series, with physics and mechanics designed to feel as close to their original gameplay as possible. However...it doesn't always happen that way.
Sometimes things don't go according to plan, and a certain blue hedgehog is proof of it--for various reasons, Sonic's gameplay in Smash has never quite clicked. His moveset, while inspired by his games (Sonic the Fighters especially), still feels like it misses its potential. And through various quirks and oversights, his optimal playstyle for a long time has been to run away from opponents and slow down matches in a way that feels completely out-of-character!
But what if we could do something about that? Let's remake Sonic's design as a Smash fighter, retooling and overhauling his moves and abilities to be truer to character, more fun to play as, and less infuriating to play against! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619

DESIGN Tier List: The Original 12Delzethin2023-01-28 | Feels like as long as Smash Bros. has been around, fans have been making tier lists. With so many beloved characters in one space, it was inevitable that some people would want to find ways to rank them. Tier lists based on competitive viability or overall strength are always popular, but what about some other topics? Smash has been around so long--and had so many playable fighters--that there's a lot to discuss about how each character is designed, but it's a surprisingly rare topic on Youtube!
This is a step toward changing that: The first of (hopefully) a series of videos covering Smash's playable fighters and ranking them based on how well they've been designed! Judging how true-to-character they feel, how well they were adapted into Smash, and how their movesets have evolved over time, let's see how the roster holds up! Starting at the very beginning, this episode focuses on the 12 characters who made their debut in the original Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619

The announcement of the Booster Course Pass caught everyone by surprise months ago, and now we've had three waves of remastered race tracks added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The 24 new courses have brought in fan favorites and plenty of surprises, and we still have three more to go!
But what might we have in store for the second half of the Pass? We know more now than we did after just the first wave, some patterns have emerged, and a little extra data left behind has helped us piece this puzzle together even better. Using everything we've learned, and taking some guidelines into account, let's make an educated of a guess as possible on what we might see in Waves 4 through 6. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619
Our Challenger this time is a character who only made his debut a year ago, yet he's already left an impact on his home series--and its fans. Raven Beak's actions set the entire Metroid storyline in motion, and in Metroid Dread he steps out of the shadows to face Samus personally. Powerful enough to overwhelm the bounty hunter one-on-one, intelligent enough to manipulate her and others behind the scenes, and enough of a sociopath to use everyone around him as tools to further his own ambitions, Raven Beak has rapidly become a fan favorite villain...and a popular pick for the next Smash title.
But how could this Chozo warlord be designed to stand out amongst his counterparts? How could his futuristic armor and abilities give him a moveset and fighting style all his own? The fresh new entry in a now-massive franchise has captivated players across the world, helped in no small part by its single-player campaign. The journey through the abandoned facility of Alterna challenges players, teaches newbies the ropes, and brings surprise after surprise all the way up to its ending.
But how well do each of its 70-ish stages measure up to each other? With many different designs and layouts, some of Alterna's trials fare better than others. Our Challenger this time is someone who is bound to have some attention sent their way when the time comes. Splatoon's meteoric rise to prominence has all but ensured the series will have more content in the next Smash game--whenever that is--and its main choice for a new fighter is the Inklings' eight-armed counterparts. Some suggestions have including making a playable Octoling an Inkling echo fighter or even a set of alternate costumes, but there is so much to work with that a mostly unique moveset isn't out of the question!
But how could such a thing be handled? Which weapons and skills Inkling's moveset doesn't use could go into Octoling's design? And how well could they justify being the Luigi to Inkling's Mario? DKs Smash MovesetDelzethin2022-10-22 | Hard to believe, but Smash Bros. has been around almost 25 years! The series has come a long way since its beginning two and a half decades ago, and in the time since they've been changes to how fighters are designed as Sakurai and the teams of each game learn more about the process. Which has a side effect of making some of the oldest fighters not age very well, leading to fans wishing for their movesets to be...remade.
This episode, we're taking a look at one such fighter. Donkey Kong has been a part of Smash since the beginning, and lately, that's really started to show. With a moveset almost completely unchanged since Melee, he's had an increasingly tough time standing out next to the roster's other heavyweights and grapplers. But what if he got a retool next game that helped modernize his design with the right combination of completely new moves and updates to his current ones? The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is set to take us on a sprawling adventure across the kingdom of Hyrule--and the skies above--next May.
But there was a whole trailer accompanying the reveal, and a deceptive amount of details were hidden within its minute and a half of run time. This isn't my usual thing, but I can use my eye for detail to take a closer look at the game's newest trailer and try to interpret everything therein. Our Challenger this time is an unusual one. Hailing from a spinoff of the popular Fire Emblem: Three Houses (because they died in the original timeline), Shez plays the role of alternate protagonist with an alternate perspective and a very different set of abilities from what Byleth--and everyone else on the current roster--is capable of. Fighting with dual swords, magic, and some signature techniques, there's a lot of moveset potential here.
But just how could everything Shez is capable of be worked into a moveset? How could the mechanics of a Warriors game be adapted to fit the structure of Smash while remaining true to the source material? And just how likely is Shez in the first place with a new Fire Emblem on the horizon? Our Challenger this time blurs the lines between past and present. Zoroark first debuted in Pokémon's 5th generation, fighting using their natural swiftness, pragmatic tactics, control over darkness, and the unique ability to conjure illusions to deceive their enemies with. But recently, we learned of another that once inhabited the land that eventually became Sinnoh. Unlike their elusive, Dark-type brethren, Hiusian Zoroarks were bitter and spiteful, wielding their ghost-like powers to assail and terrify anyone they deemed a threat.
Two forms, different in lore yet close enough in abilities that they could work in Smash as one fighter! But just how could their powers of illusion translate into Smash? And with a new generation approaching fast, is there any hope left for these fan favorites? It's a question the Smash community has asked a whole lot of times over the years, and recent circumstances have led to people asking it again. A recent rise in tournament results by Steve and Kazuya--including shocking wins against some of Ultimate's top players--have caused some players to sound the alarm. Brawl and Smash 4 were each plagued by one character--Meta Knight and Bayonetta, respectively--eventually dominating their metagames and slowly sapping away the community's desire to keep playing. Could the same be about to happen here, unless these two would-be tyrants are banned from competitive play?
Well, the truth isn't so simple. Let's look closer at the Ultimate fandom's newest points of contention, why the ban talk has escalated lately, how legitimate the argument may be, and--this is important--the underlying causes behind all of this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619
Our Challenger this time is someone who, surprisingly, wasn't brought up often in newcomer speculation despite his popularity. Along with the other Champions, Revali became a fan favorite practically overnight with Breath of the Wild's monumental success. Yet fate was not kind to this Rito warrior, as not only did he miss his chance to join Ultimate, so did every potential newcomer from his series for the second game in a row. Still, he has many fans who would love to see him join the roster someday, and more unexpected things have happened before.
So what if, through some surprise twist of fate, Revali did find a way into Smash after all? How could his mastery of the bow and control over the wind itself translate into a moveset that'd stand out among all that have come before him and blow his opponents away? But the more these changes happen, the more dated any depictions outside their series start to get. We've seen this happen in Smash Bros. over time, as some characters' movesets have felt increasingly dated as the years have gone by. But sometimes it's not just that--sometimes more recent additions don't quite tap into everything they (and their series) has to offer.
But what if I told you there's a way Smash could still do that even if the fighters' current movesets were kept as-is? A mechanic from Smash 4 gave everyone in the base game alternate versions of their specials that let them customize their movesets to a degree, and while it was hit-or-miss in practice, the concept has a ton of potential that the next Smash game could tap into! Let's take a closer look at how a revamped version of Custom Specials could expand on the movesets of Kirby, Dark Samus, Pikachu, and Robin, and bring in more elements of their source material than they currently do! Something Kirby and Pikachu in particular could benefit from. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619

In this series, we discuss characters who may be invited to a future entry of Super Smash Bros, then go into ludicrous detail on what they could be like if they joined the fight for real!
Our Challenger this time is an icon with an up-and-down history. Rayman's track record of quality platformers along with spinoffs of wildly varying quality has endeared him to many gamers worldwide. Yet he's also endured long periods where the only games he's had were said spinoffs if anything, including his run of small mobile titles in the past near-decade. With Smash's history of giving its guest fighters care and attention to the point where it's outright revived a few franchises, Rayman's many fans have been left waiting and hoping if the Limbless Wonder himself might get that chance next.
So what if that did come to pass? How could Rayman stand out in Smash as a newcomer, and how would his array of abilities and very unusual build translate to a moveset and fighting style only he is truly capable of? Let's take a look. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619
But even that leaves one major question hanging overhead: What will the rest of this be like? Well, by using the first wave as reference and taking a few guidelines into account, we can make an educated guess on what to expect from Waves 2 through 6. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619
Our Challenger this time is one of the many characters who make up the Super Mario series' secondary cast. Captain Toad has rose to prominence in the past decade and a half, jumping from background NPC in his debut to a core cast member with roles in every mainline Mario game since, and punctuated with a starring role in a spinoff title, has put him in the running for a Smash invite alongside several of his peers.
But what if he was chosen to join the fight next time? How could his adventurer's tools, surprising strength, and eye for treasure combine to make something wholly unlike anyone we've seen in Smash yet? Samus Smash MovesetDelzethin2022-02-10 | Smash Bros. has come a long way. What started as a small, experimental crossover fighter has, nearly 25 years later, become a gaming phenomenon played and discussed around the world. But not every part of Smash has aged so gracefully--some aspects from the earliest entries have become dated, unwieldy, or no longer feel as representative of their source material as they once did. And while the series proper hasn't brought them up to date yet, it falls to the fans to try and...remake it.
Our subject this time is a certain bounty hunter who has ran, jumped, and blasted her way back into the limelight. The recent success of Metroid Dread has given Samus and her series new life once more. But her moveset in Smash Bros. has stayed nearly unchanged since Melee, and she's picked up so many new abilities in the time since that her Smash depiction doesn't feel much like herself anymore. But what if the next game were to give her some much-needed updates to feel in line with her current renditions? Let's see how that might look--and play. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619

Our Challenger this time hails from a recent indie hit that had surprisingly little presence in Smash speculation. Hades took the Switch--and PC--by storm in late 2020, an indie roguelike (well, rogueLITE technically) themed after Greek mythology that tasks Zagreus, prince of the Underworld, with escaping to the surface. The game's highly polished aesthetic, presentation, and especially gameplay propelled it to critical acclaim and MANY gaming awards.
But what if that had also included a Smash invite? Or what if Zagreus were to get into one of the many indie platform fighters that are springing up nowadays? Let's take a closer look at how his array of weapons and his game's take on the roguelike formula could be adapted into the form of a playable fighter! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619

An announcement last month (and a leak in the weeks prior) revealed the existence of Multiversus, bringing together a century's worth of characters from cartoons, comics, films, and everything else under the Warner Bros. label to duke it out in multiplayer mayhem!
While the only footage shown to the public so far is a single trailer (and some extra footage dropped on Twitter recently), there's a lot therein to talk about. The game's emphasis on 2v2 matches alongside 1v1 has led to new and interesting mechanics. Each revealed stage appears to be more than meets the eye. And all of the 13 fighters revealed so far are unique in their moveset designs. Combine with some polished animations and voicework, and it's no wonder there's been a buzz about this game.
But what exactly IS going on here? What might we who haven't been able to play the beta be able to experience once Mutliversus goes live some time next year? Let's take a deep dive into the trailer footage and see what we can find out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller Post-production assistance by Neoxon: twitter.com/Neoxon619

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was met with surprise and excitement upon its reveal back in the summer. When it came out in early October, though, the enthusiasm vanished nearly as quickly as it'd appeared, with lukewarm receptions, disappointed reviewers, and an unexpectedly small (though still dedicated) base of players.
So...what went wrong?
Let's take a look at the game's content, mechanics, and creative decisions to see what missteps may have caused it to slip and fall out of the gate and why they may have happened. With Ultimate taking its leave from the spotlight for the foreseeable future, let's spend a moment looking back over the second Fighters Pass. This is a combination of review and retrospective, analyzing how each of the six DLC characters turned out and giving personal thoughts on them, concluding with my thoughts on the creative directions behind DLC and how the Smash community has grown and evolved over these past few years.
Well, guys, here we are at the end. After three and a half years' worth of reveals, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate now has its final roster. With no more DLC characters to talk about and with newcomer speculation winding down for the foreseeable future, it requires content creators like myself change our plans to suit the changing situation.
This video is my way of explaining what my personal plans are going forward. What content themed around Smash I plan to cover in the next few months, which non-Smash content will accompany it, and the future of my signature video series. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller

Ultimate and its menagerie of characters have come a long way since launch, with many varied movesets and abilities available...but it hasn't stopped some from feeling like they just don't click anymore. Whether from dated-ness or from leaning too hard on older appearances or for other reasons, some characters' movesets don't work as well as they did when they first joined the fight. While overhauling movesets has been a rarity in Smash, there is another way to add more to these concepts, and it relies on an old mechanic from Smash 4 where every fighter had unlockable alternate versions of their specials that mixed up how they played!
While the Custom Specials mechanic didn't return in Ultimate, what if it did come around again in a future installment? What form could customs take to improve on the concept and expand each character's moveset to pay more tribute to their source material while also being balanced competitively? Let's take a look at how a reimagined take on Custom Specials might work for four specific fighters: Three who were around during Smash 4 and one who was not. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller

Our challenger this time hails from a franchise with a very unusual background. While most of Nintendo's mobile titles have been spinoffs of well-known franchises, Dragalia Lost was designed from the ground up to be a new experience on smart devices. Its colorful fantasy aesthetics and action RPG combat have earned it a dedicated fanbase over the past three years, enough that some have wondered if its main character Euden might be Ultimate's 11th and final DLC fighter.
But could Euden's swordplay, elemental powers, and ability to take on the form of an all-powerful dragon overcome his mobile roots and lack of worldwide recognition? And if he did make it into Smash, how could his array of abilities transfer over into a moveset unique from every RPG protagonist we've had so far? A recent announcement revealed the existence of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, bringing three decades' worth of beloved Nicktoons characters--and some others--together to duke it out in multiplayer mayhem!
The roster so far has an interesting mix of characters...but it has people speculating all over again about who might show up before the game comes out in the fall. And with a developer at the helm who has actual experience making platform fighters, the potential for an actual competitive scene has Smash players--and the rest of the fighting game community--cautiously optimistic for this one's chances!
With all of that in mind, let's take a closer look at NASB's reveal trailer. This time...is a little different than usual. With only one DLC character left, there are many different ways that coveted final spot could be handled. And while the Smash community is mostly expecting either an absolute bombshell or a dull "shill" pick, we've been collectively caught off guard so many times these past couple years that it's work considering some...less conventional options. One of them being the player character from one of Nintendo's most successful mobile titles, with all the divisiveness that entails.
But is Kiran even worth looking at to begin with (other than just for fun)? And just how could their weapon's unique transformations, along with the very mechanics of Fire Emblem Heroes, form together into a moveset that'd stand out and be fun to play as? With most speculators eyes' on other characters as E3 approached, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's next DLC character is none other than Kazuya Mishima of Tekken fame! Bandai-Namco finally got a second character onto the roster, and Fighters Pass Vol.2 has its second character from a fighting game franchise!
But the gameplay featured in Kazuya's trailer--and the montage afterward--has many Smash fans scratching their heads. With over 30 different attacks at his fingertips, Kazuya's moveset is by far the most extensive we've seen in Smash yet, raising questions of just HOW it functions in the first place. To say no less of what appear to be multiple signature mechanics pulled straight from his games!
So now, in attempt to figure out exactly what's going on here...let's take a closer look at this iron-fisted fighter's abilities, see how his moveset may be formed together, and even theorize how his fighting style and gameplan will end up once he's made playable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Desma: twitter.com/D3stiny_Sm4sher Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller

This time, we're turning our attention to a topic that is both common and rather divisive. With all the huge names and jaw-dropping reveals over Ultimate's run so far, the idea of a safe, predictable first party character that catches no one off guard...isn't very appealing. Many eyes are on Pokémon Sword & Shield as a potential source for one of the remaining DLC fighters, and among them, Cinderace is often considered the most likely. The apparent predictability, combined with a presumed lack of spectacle surrounding such a reveal, have created a veil of resentment overshadowing any supporters' excitement.
But is Cinderace's situation--and appeal--what it seems, or is there more going on beneath the surface? And just how could this firebending footballer stand out in Smash next to all the other fighters who share the element? This time, our attention is on someone who has drawn an awful lot of attention in the past year. Crash Bandicoot has come spinning back into the mainstream, carrying momentum from his recent revival into his first brand new mainline platformer in a very long time! And with so many major characters finding their way into Smash lately, speculators have wondered increasingly often if Crash himself will follow suit next.
But just what chance does this former console rival actually have of joining the fight? And if he did make it in, just how could his 25 year history be shaped into a compelling moveset? Predicting Ultimates DLC Fighter #10Delzethin2021-04-28 | Spring has returned, and for gamers everywhere, that can only mean one thing: E3 is almost here! The year's biggest gaming expo is making its return (in online form), and with Nintendo already confirmed to be participating, fans are left to speculate what video games and other content the Big N might have up their sleeves. The Smash Bros. community in particular is anxiously awaiting the reveal of Ultimate's DLC Fighter #10, likely to be shown as part of Nintendo's E3 news.
But that doesn't answer the fandom's biggest question: Who's next? Who might take the role of Ultimate's 10th (and presumably second-last) DLC newcomer? Let's analyze the current situation, go over three characters I think are worth keeping a close eye on as we await Fighter #10, and also discuss what could help them stand out in Smash and what content from their series might accompany them! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Desma: twitter.com/D3stiny_Sm4sher Post-production assistance (and E3 footage) by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller

Creating New Custom SpecialsDelzethin2021-04-13 | "Ultimate" Smash Bros. experience it may arguably be, there are some features from earlier Smash games that didn't make it in this time around. Among those missing is a feature from Smash 4 where each fighter (in the base roster) had unlockable alternate versions of their specials with new stats and properties, allowing players to customize how each of them played! To an extent. While a cool idea on paper, in practice it proved highly impractical to unlock every variant for every character, many felt rather plain and uncreative, and several proved so unbalanced that the competitive community didn't bother with them for long.
But what if they came back? What if a future title--a "Smash 6", a definitive edition of Ultimate, or otherwise--revived the concept of custom specials? What form might they take, and how could they be handled in a way that'd be more easily balanced competitively AND allow for fighters' movesets to pull from more of their source material? This edition takes a look at what this reimagined take on customs might be like for four fighters in particular: two who had them originally in Smash 4 and two who did not. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Desma: twitter.com/D3stiny_Sm4sher

In this series, we discuss characters who could find their way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or future entries, then go into ludicrous detail on what they would be like if they joined the fight for real!
This episode, we turn to someone who actually became a realistic option after recent events. Additional Sonic characters find themselves brought up in Smash speculation sometimes, but never seriously since we hadn't yet seen two guest fighters from the same series (other than echo fighters). With Sephiroth breaking that barrier, though, the path is wide open for third party franchises to double up if the stars align! A fact that was not lost on the Smash or Sonic fandoms, as many of them started wondering if the blue blur's archnemesis could be next.
But beyond the hype and discussion, are the stars actually aligning for Dr. Eggman to join the fight? More importantly, if he did get in, how could his nearly 20 years of boss battles and other source material be used to create his moveset? Let's take a look. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller Challenger Key Art by Ed Mendoza: twitter.com/edmendozaart

Just like with Min Min and ARMS, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has doubled back to another game that was once too late to pull a newcomer from and brought in someone from Xenoblade Chonicles 2. But instead of Rex like (almost) everyone expected, the Aegis herself has joined in his stead! The two halves of Pyra and Mythra bring the closest to a traditional stance system we've seen yet, swapping between each other on the fly to utilize unique specials alongside standard attacks with similar base animations but different stats!
But what more is there to this dynamic duo's moveset? We don't have too long before Sakurai fully unveils them, but let's see what we can glean from the reveal trailer and learn before then...and apply it to theorize just how they'll fight when the time comes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Desma: twitter.com/D3stiny_Sm4sherA Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Tier ListDelzethin2021-02-08 | Sometimes, the best games can be the ones you never knew were possible. While many people believed a followup to Hyrule Warriors would happen, who thought it'd take the form of a prequel to Breath of the Wild? Age of Calamity expands on the story we only previously saw scraps up in memories (and doing more with it than expected, one could say) and takes a closer look at many fan favorite characters. All while adding in the hack-and-slash gameplay of Dynasty Warriors at its finest!
With with such a large and varied roster comes one big question: How well does everyone measure up against each other? Let's take a closer look at the best (and worst, and everything in between) characters and moveset in Age of Calamity's base release. This is my personal take, based on a combination of a LOT of gameplay on my end along with some extra research to doublecheck details I wasn't confident about. This time, we're taking a look at someone from a franchise often considered neglected as far as newcomers go. The Legend of Zelda may be one of the biggest names in all of gaming, but for many varied reasons, it hasn't seen anyone new join Smash in over 12 years! This long newcomer drought has led to fans wondering if anyone from Hyrule (or the other realms the series occasionally visits) will ever have an invite sent their way. While several names are brought up in Zelda newcomer talk, among those most discussed is Impa, a recurring name just like Link and Zelda themselves...and one who just happened to have a very prominent role in a recently released title.
So, what if this newly imagined take on Impa did get a chance to join the fight, despite hailing from a spinoff title and despite the recent Spirit Event? What form could her ancient Sheikah techniques take that'd help her stand out in Smash? Let's take a look. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller

Predicting Ultimates DLC Fighter #8Delzethin2020-12-07 | As this year finally begins to wrap up, attention among gaming communities has turned toward different topics than usual. Holiday shoppers are seeking out which video games their loved ones would be most excited for. Websites and organizations are giving out awards for the games they believe have excelled most. And Smash Bros. roster speculators are...doing the usual, attempting to figure out which of Nintendo's--or gaming's--best, brightest, or most unique will be the 8th DLC character to join the fight. Who's next?
While nothing's for certain--both the identity of Fighter #8 and when they'll be revealed--we can at least analyze the situation and figure out where things currently stand. In this series, we discuss characters who could find their way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or future entries, then go into ludicrous detail on what they would be like if they joined the fight for real!
This time, we're covering someone who needs no introduction. A notable figure from the most celebrated franchise in gaming, Waluigi is always a major point in Smash speculation...until he turns out to be an Assist Trophy, something we've seen three times now and counting. But despite always being overshadowed by his peers from the Mushroom Kingdom, he's managed a steady support base with each new Smash game. Though it becomes difficult to tell who among them is genuinely interested in the guy, who merely believes the Mario side of the roster is incomplete without him, and who is just there to follow all the memes, there is always an audience ready to entertain the idea that he might make the jump from summon to playable one day.
So, what if that did happen? Whether as part of Ultimate's DLC, or as part of a future Smash game? Let's see just how Waluigi's array of abilities and appearances, and what we know of his personality and motivations, could help him stand out as a unique fighter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller
But while responses to the new addition have been pretty positive overall, there've also been some mixed opinions on creative directions and how the character AND accompanying content were handled. Well, I have my own thoughts (for better or worse), so here are my overall thoughts and insight on Steve, the new Minecraft World stage, and the overall content added to the game as part of Challenger Pack #7. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller

After coming out of nowhere late last month (leaks aside), Kirby Fighters 2 brings the puffball's signature style and copy abilites--and a few friends--into a fighting game format to duke it out! It's more of a casual-friendly take on the genre, offering 4 player craziness in solo or team formats that are sure to be a good time for everyone involved.
But who says we can't take things a little more seriously than probably intended? With a new fighting game comes people wondering who the best (and worst) characters are, so let's see if we can rank this game's 22 playable fighters into the format of a tier list.
This'll be primarily my own thoughts and instincts based on my competitive Smash background--with some outside feedback--so consider this my personal take. Predicting Ultimates DLC Fighter #7Delzethin2020-09-22 | After several months of quiet, the time seems to be drawing near for news on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's next DLC fighter. Though Fighters Pass Vol. 2 is developing at a slower pace than the first, the timing feels just about right for DLC Fighter #7 to be revealed, demonstrated, and made available in the coming weeks.
But that doesn't answer the biggest question: Who's Next? Who will have the honor and opportunity of being the next character to join the fight? Speculation has ranged from many different angles and many different hopeful newcomers (though perhaps fixated somewhat on a small handful), but can we truly narrow it down?
Well, nothing's for sure--especially with how many of Smash's decisions only make sense in hindsight--but maybe we can give it a shot. This time...is rather unusual. Newcomer speculation migrates often between ideas, but a recurring topic is indie games and their position in Smash. Though we've seen Spirits, Mii Costumes, and an Assist Trophy based on indie characters so far, many still wonder if one could become a full-fledged fighter at some point. And while a handful of games and their characters are discussed as a potential "indie rep", Hollow Knight and its protagonist are surprisingly overlooked for the subject matter despite the game being so highly regarded.
But regardless of the odds--either perceived or actual--what could the Knight actually do in Smash? How could this silent, masked warrior turn the aesthetics, gameplay, and overall feel of Hollow Knight into a unique and interesting moveset? This time, we're going against the grain again with another revisit to a character featured in a previous episode! Paper Mario is relevant again thanks to his most recent outing, and with a diverse array of abilities available from all the different things he's done in his games over the years, he boasts some impressive moveset potential! But the split between old and new fans of his series has made him a contentious figure within Nintendo, to say the least.
But could a Smash invite, whether for Ultimate or a future entry, be a chance to bring the two sides of his fractured fanbase together? And just how would this paperized version of Mario stand out next to the regular one? Let's take a closer look, because despite his 2D nature, this character's potential is far from paper-thin. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller
And in lieu of major news, one particular rumor has caught on: that one project Nintendo has in the works is a compilation of remastered versions of some of Mario's classic 3D platformers! To say the idea has people intrigued and excited would be an understatement. But with scare few details mentioned in the rumors, it's left many fans wondering just how these remasters might be getting handled...presuming they're happening at all.
Well, here are my thoughts: The 5 features I am most hoping are part of these rumored remakes if (or when) they turn out to be a real thing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow on Twitter at: twitter.com/Delzethin Support via Patreon at: patreon.com/Delzethin Graphic design by Voyager: twitter.com/Fire_Voyager Post-production assistance by Yoshiller: twitter.com/RealYoshiller
But what if, at some point, it did make a return? Let's take a look at a form customs could potentially take in the future, redesigned to truly embody the spirit of the originals while offering more interesting alternates than before AND making them competitively viable! This episode covers a mix of popular and contentious characters, several of whom could benefit from their customs from Smash 4 getting a revamp, and one who never got the chance to have any of their own.

With Ultimate giving invites to so many long running fan requests, Geno is now one of the few who remain. Not only that, but with Square-Enix's continued commitment to Smash, his Mii costume's ongoing absence, and recent confirmation that characters who currently appear as Spirits are indeed eligible to become playable, signs indicate that it may be Geno's turn next.
