I decided to experiment on the negative series impedances.
The purpose is to see what happens when we use one of the 8 windings on one motor coil like the motor with trigger coil and connect it to ground at one side and the other with diode to negative path.
Will we see an increase in negative energy or not?
When starting to experiment however I had some trouble in getting the motor to run because I didn't know what I'm going to show you in the next 2 video's.
The problem is that when your on time is to short, the mosfet starts to oscillate and can cause damage to mosfet and gate driver.
In my setup I experienced that I should have approx 10ms at least of on time. Offcourse when your experiment you have to watch out for the current drawn by your circuit because longer on times results in higher currents and higher currents on more voltage for the spike.
So it's important to check that you don't exceed the 500V of the mosfet if you use the FDL100N50F like used on the bigger motor or 1200V for the C3M0075120K for the mosfet used in my experimental setup in this video.
Both mosfets gave the same problem of ringing.
Both tested gate drivers : MIC4452YN & IXD0614PI had same problem.
Experimenting with the negative series impedances has lot risk of blowing up parts, if you experiment with it, it is at your own risk. Watch out for the high voltages that can be created.
