In this video, we’re looking at Parameter Modulation using Audio Signal (sidechain) This is a really powerful feature, that let’s you assign any audio signal to any parameter or any plugin! We can use it for sound design to create dynamic effects that respond to the dynamics of our performance, and we can automate certain mixing tasks by having parameters listen to a signal and automatically perform a task!
Hey folks! In this video I'm gonna try and re-create the Ol' David Bowie Gated Reverb Effect. Pioneered by Tony Visconti, who produced Bowie's album 'Heroes' among others, it's a great way of adding an extra layer of richness to dynamic vocal performances.

Recent developments in the Dan Worrall vs. Harrison Controversy bring to mind another occassion where Dan Worrall criticized a company, and I found a wee comparisson between the attitudes of the people behind these companies to be an illuminating case study.
Hopefully you know where to find the rest. Dan Worrall needs no introduction and the other dude seems like the kinda person who would copyright claim out of spite.

I wanna show you a cool sound design trick today which we’ll call the Infinite Delay technique. When you hear it you’ll undoubtedly recognize it from songs & films so it’s not something I invented, but nevertheless I really enjoy using it. You need an Echo/Tape type of Delay Plugin for this work, ie one that has a variable buffer that is able to self-oscillate. Lots of different plugins work for this but Valhalla FreqEcho is a free one with some extra features that makes it a good choice & it’s free!

Hey folks! Here's a quick technique to keep in your arsenal for when it's needed. Compression is a way to do gain reduction. You set a threshold, ratio, attack and release, and the compressor generates a gain reduction curve based on your signal, but if you find it hard to calculate the right settings, or if your settings are right in one place and wrong in another, you can always cut the middleman and make the gain reduction curves yourself!
