I show how I made a creepy sound effect by using the recording of the bottle being hit (with easy to follow instructions I hope). There are a lot of situations in fiction, games and tabletop RPG's like Dungeons and Dragons that require a bit of intense music. I listen to a lot of music specifically for these situations and at a certain moment had to write that into a song of my own. Lovecraft. Fear of the Mi-Go and the Mi-Go dungeons were both inspired by the creatures described in the story. The fact that they are a looming threat worked great as inspiration for music. The first is a suspenseful track based around the feeling of these dark entities being present but never seen. Something to fear but only a problem if we inconvenience them enough. The second is eerie and creepy percussive music inspired by their work in the caves. Scary enough but more of a problem the less we leave them alone. When Myths Converge is inspired by the creepy fact that many different folk tales seem to confirm one another. Most of them could be explained away as superstition, but as they tell similar stories they create a sense of something being there to explore. The music is both mysterious and perfect for exploring the dark and supernatural.Akeley's Letters is a mysterious piece of background music inspired by the letters sent back and forth between Akeley and the narrator. They start out innocent enough, with a promise of a mystery to be uncovered, but soon get much more dark and sinister. Finally there is Akeley's Mansion. This track was the first I wrote for this suite and kind of a blueprint for all pieces of music. Sketches and musical ideas which I took and worked out in individual pieces of music. Because the many different musical themes rapidly coming after each other it makes for a perfect track for short video's, like intro's or as dark suspenseful trailer music.All tracks with a hint of sci-fi because this story is so clearly a scifi story. Though written letters are anything but dramatic, the way in which this writing back and forth was done makes for a really creepy read. The calming yet unsettling nature of these letters is what I've tried to reflect in this piece of relaxing horror music. Hoping to be both calming, yet haunting like an itch that something is wrong, though subtle.In order to do this the track uses some horror sfx, synths, piano, haunting choir and twisted violin and viola melodies, as well as a synth instrument created specifically for this suite.Can be used for reading the amazing Lovecraft stories, but also as relaxing horror game music for example. During writing I have also listened a lot to Mozart's requiem as I love the general mood of that. Lovecraft. Though the general vibe of the Mi-Go isn't post apocalyptic, I couldn't help but incorporate some of those elements into this piece of creepy music inspired by them. The combination of mystery surrounding this creatures and the narrator slowly learning of them and their infiltration in society inspired this particular track, where actually seeing them work in their dungeons was the inspiration for the other Mi-Go track I've written here: youtube.com/watch?v=zfYMdENGwsMFor this piece of cinematic music I've made several ambient sound design elements based on recordings of crabs, critters and bugs. Specifically, by the transformation from the young narrator and his youth to his later darker self. There is something that makes the character that much more eerie and ominous by knowing his childhood was (by all accounts in the story) a happy one. I've tried to capture both the innocence and creepiness of that, and also the tragic element that such a perfect start ended up leading to a scrupulous adult.To do this I've used my custom 'meow' cat synthesizer instrument made specifically for this suite, as well as music box sounds and a 6/8 meter which I think helps in setting an innocent and magical mood. Seemingly very innocent and harmless (this is why the theme is first played on a music box) he appears to have a darker, more mysterious side to him. In the story he uses his sinister powers for revenge, though the origin of these powers is only explained in the form of hinting that he might have magical powers, or that cats in general are linked to witches.The theme is later on heard using an instrument created specifically for this suite, using a recording of a cats meow and turning that into a synthesizer with the help of pitching. The song moves slowly from ambient to slightly dramatic. This is to reflect the change in the role of Pluto in the story. Made with ancient cultures with a lot of mythology in mind. I think ancient egyptian mythology is especially inspiring as this world is so complex and instantly transports to a magical world.One of the first song in a while with only guitar, sfx and synth recordings, no string instruments where used. I think this helps in setting the atmospheric and ambient music mood I wanted to create. The melody in the outro was created by an orchestra of e-bow bass guitar and guitar melodies. This gives a very out-of-control yet atmospheric sound. Hungarian Dance No. 5 - Creepy Music Version (Violin and Horror Soundtrack) Marc van der Meulen ♫ 2022-06-03 | Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Johannes Brahms made into a creepy music version with violin and viola, fitting for a horror soundtrack. I've worked on this track quite a while making multiple versions, and the more you listen to the actual notes being played, the more you realise it is a great example of dark classical music. The very upbeat orchestration hides the creepiness very well. That's why I hade to make my own horror version of this. I've mainly used viola in this horror cover because the eerie feeling really comes through using the big brother of the violin. Instruments used are viola, glockenspiel, snare toms and a lot of sound design from metal boards and other loud noises. The low and high violin bits in the intro are actually the viola with pitch shift, making it sound a bit creepier than when I would have used violin.Need this scary classical music on the go? Though already popular before that, it became very well known through being used as the #theme for the popular video game #tetris . For this slow #horror music version I've recorded the theme on Feurich 122 piano and added strings recordings from my violin and viola. In short, except for a few minor sound design additions, this music was recorded live and twisted around using all kinds of music effects to create a horror atmosphere.Important note: As long as it is used as a cover of the public domain song Korobeiniki, this one is royalty free and you're free to use it for your own projects.
