Jackson's : Eco Paper : Extra Rough : 560lb : 22x30in : 1 Sheet PJ560ER - £9.00
Description taken from Jackson's Art Supplies - jacksonsart.com
Our very own Eco friendly 100% cotton, internally & externally gelatine sized, deckle edged handmade paper from India.
The machinery normally used to make paper uses a considerable amount of energy, turning paper pulp into a giant roll of perfectly dry paper in barely a minute. Our handmade papers however are made from recycled cotton, they are individually set into the moulds and then dried slowly in the Indian sun. The water used in the production is then run off to irrigate the field neighbouring the factory. These papers are also made in special small moulds which allows us to produce beautiful deckle edged sheets in 1/4 & 1/2 imperial sizes. All papers are available at an unbeatable price!
1/4 and 1/2 sheets are deckled on all four sides of the 140lb & 200lb papers.
It is a challenging surface but those who love it find it very rewarding. It is a very soft paper and has low sizing so you have to be an confident watercolourist or an experimentalist to love it.10 000 Subscribers, Many many thanks XLouise Jannetta2024-09-04 | Just a little video to express my gratitude to everyone who has subscribed, watched, commented and supported me. Hi all, to clarify the glue details, as the sound on the video is not very good (my apologies) - I used methylcellulose, which is about the same as wallpaper paste but without chemical additives. I use methyl cellulose because it is a natural product that is water soluble, so I will take the paints applied really well; you can use any starch-based glue. The PVA glues are generally non-soluble when dry and are not archival. X Hope this helps, and many thanks for watching X😀 See the video - How to Prepare Cellulose Glue - youtu.be/K3Tee3iMtiE

This technique uses the particular qualities of mulberry paper to craft papers into a solid and durable fabric-like material. Hanji (Korean mulberry paper) is manipulated by hand, moulded and felted, rubbed and coaxed, causing the long fibres, typical of mulberry papers, to felt and adhere to each other. The paper becomes stronger the more it is worked. The process creates strong, textural, textile-like papers that become elegantly smooth with use. The result can be six times stronger than ordinary Hanji papers, sewn into clothing, or used to make functional items such as wallets, containers and covers.

Hanji or Korean paper is the name of traditional handmade paper from Korea. Hanji or mulberry paper is made from the inner bark of Broussonetia papyrifera, known colloquially as paper mulberry or DAK. Dak is a tree native to Korea that grows well on the sunny slopes of Korea’s many mountains. It is prized for its long white fibres. The formation aid crucial to making hanji is the mucilage that oozes from the roots of the Hibiscus Manihot. This substance helps suspend individual fibres in water. Traditional hanji is made in laminated sheets using the we bal method (a sheet formation technique), which allows for multi-directional grain[3] The process of creating hanji also employs dochim, a method of pounding finished sheets to compact fibres and lessen ink bleed. Hanji paper is famous across Asia for its white colour and extreme durability and was a high import to China in tribute missions.Use the Korean Art of Joomchi to Felt Mulberry papers and create durrable, sculptural organic formsLouise Jannetta2022-10-07 | This technique uses the particular qualities of mulberry paper to craft papers into a solid and durable fabric-like material. The process creates strong, textural, textile-like papers that become elegantly smooth. The result can be six times stronger than ordinary Hanji papers and can be sewn into clothing or used to make functional items such as wallets, containers and covers.
With scant information about this process, Louise follows advice to just give it a go. This exploration of the materials and process will be shared as a journey you can join. Hope you enjoy it and experience this technique and the unique qualities of handmade mulberry paper.

Hanji, or Korean paper, is the name of traditional handmade paper from Korea. Traditional hanji is produced in laminated sheets using the we bal method (a sheet formation technique), which allows for multi-directional grain[3]. Creating hanji also employs dochim, a method of pounding finished sheets to compact fibres and lessen ink bleed. Hanji paper is famous across Asia for its white colour and extreme durability and was a high import to China in tribute missions. How to Make Abstract Bookmark Designs using texturs, mark-making, glazes, getures gesso and collage.Louise Jannetta2022-09-11 | You will need Cellulose glue PVA Wood Glue Brush to apply the glue Ruler Pencil Stanley Knife Eco paper Acrylic Paint Acrylic fluid gloss or matte medium Some of your beautiful leftover scrap papers and collage pieces.

Louise prints as many as nine layers on two of these images to produce rich, textured and multi-faceted abstracts.
Continuing her exploration of mark-making, Louise demonstrates how to make reusable templates to enhance your mark-making repertoire. She demonstrates the method you can utilise and expand upon with your designs and paint application methods.
It is a useful technique, full of potential, which allows the use of shape, colour and texture that can only be achieved through this type of application.
The marks are printed using a Gel plate and also a silicone brush. Opaque or translucent colours and shapes can be layered to create interest and depth.
In this demo, Louise uses acrylic paint and some acrylic glaze medium; you can use either matte or gloss.
