Description taken from Jackson's Art Supplies - jacksonsart.com
Our very own Eco friendly 100% cotton, internally & externally gelatine sized, deckle edged handmade paper from India.
The machinery normally used to make paper uses a considerable amount of energy, turning paper pulp into a giant roll of perfectly dry paper in barely a minute. Our handmade papers however are made from recycled cotton, they are individually set into the moulds and then dried slowly in the Indian sun. The water used in the production is then run off to irrigate the field neighbouring the factory. These papers are also made in special small moulds which allows us to produce beautiful deckle edged sheets in 1/4 & 1/2 imperial sizes. All papers are available at an unbeatable price!
1/4 and 1/2 sheets are deckled on all four sides of the 140lb & 200lb papers.
It is a challenging surface but those who love it find it very rewarding. It is a very soft paper and has low sizing so you have to be an confident watercolourist or an experimentalist to love it.
Brilliant for journalling, collage, mixed-media, abstracts, card-making and much more. We hope you enjoy XXX

Hi all, to clarify the glue details, as the sound on the video is not very good (my apologies) - I used methylcellulose, which is about the same as wallpaper paste but without chemical additives. I use methyl cellulose because it is a natural product that is water soluble, so I will take the paints applied really well; you can use any starch-based glue. The PVA glues are generally non-soluble when dry and are not archival. X Hope this helps, and many thanks for watching X😀

Louise has been experimenting with substrates and mediums to explore the different possibilities the attributes of these can offer. In this series of videos, Louise investigates Acrylics specifically and the vast range of attributes that the very versatile medium allows.
In this video, Louise uses colour and line, light and dark, to produce the illusion of perspective and atmosphere.

This technique uses the particular qualities of mulberry paper to craft papers into a solid and durable fabric-like material. Hanji (Korean mulberry paper) is manipulated by hand, moulded and felted, rubbed and coaxed, causing the long fibres, typical of mulberry papers, to felt and adhere to each other. The paper becomes stronger the more it is worked.
The process creates strong, textural, textile-like papers that become elegantly smooth with use. The result can be six times stronger than ordinary Hanji papers, sewn into clothing, or used to make functional items such as wallets, containers and covers.
With scant information about this process, Louise follows advice to just give it a go. This exploration of the materials and process will be shared as a journey you can join. Hope you enjoy it and get to experience this technique and the fantastic handmade mulberry paper's unique qualities.

Hanji or Korean paper is the name of traditional handmade paper from Korea. Hanji or mulberry paper is made from the inner bark of Broussonetia papyrifera, known colloquially as paper mulberry or DAK. Dak is a tree native to Korea that grows well on the sunny slopes of Korea’s many mountains. It is prized for its long white fibres. The formation aid crucial to making hanji is the mucilage that oozes from the roots of the Hibiscus Manihot. This substance helps suspend individual fibres in water. Traditional hanji is made in laminated sheets using the we bal method (a sheet formation technique), which allows for multi-directional grain[3] The process of creating hanji also employs dochim, a method of pounding finished sheets to compact fibres and lessen ink bleed. Hanji paper is famous across Asia for its white colour and extreme durability and was a high import to China in tribute missions.

Continuing her exploration of mark-making, Louise demonstrates how to make reusable templates to enhance your mark-making repertoire. She demonstrates the method you can utilise and expand upon with your designs and paint application methods.
It is a useful technique, full of potential, which allows the use of shape, colour and texture that can only be achieved through this type of application.
The marks are printed using a Gel plate and also a silicone brush. Opaque or translucent colours and shapes can be layered to create interest and depth.
In this demo, Louise uses acrylic paint and some acrylic glaze medium; you can use either matte or gloss.

Louise shows the process and deliberation taken to create this gentle memory of a summer’s day.
You can speed up the playback time and skip through the process or you can take your time and observe the extensive marks that make up this deceptively detailed painting.
Louise layers, pools and paints in a series of mark-making gestures to capture the memory of a light, ethereal summer sunshine.

Due to demand Louise is running a second Lace Tree Workshop.
For this particular workshop please book at louisejannetta.co.uk/product-page/copy-of-lace-trees-saturday-august-13th-2022-full-day-workshop
This unique, signature technique, for which Louise Jannetta has gained a respected reputation, is made available for you to enjoy.
Intricate, delicate lace-like trees, branches and foliage are cut and applied to high-quality watercolour paper to construct a lace-like depiction of the majesty of trees. It is a skill that does not fail to impress.
All materials and equipment will be supplied.
All papers and threads
Also, a piece of 600 gsm watercolour paper stretched on to a board. The paper and board are yours to take away with you so that work is not rushed and can be completed in your own time using the skill that you have acquired during the lesson.
All workshops can be tailored to groups or individuals. If you want to really immerse yourself in the generosity of these techniques then two or three-day courses can be arranged.
The workshops in Louise’s studio run from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm. Most materials and lunch is provided with refreshments and biscuits served all day. The cost of a lesson is £100.00 for the day. The lessons are restricted to only six customers per lesson (four customers only while covid restriction applies) so that Louise can give tuition focused on each person’s needs.
The video demonstrates how to ink up the stamps etc. and demonstrates all the lovely marks that these tools make. These marks will enhance your repertoire of mark-making and create interest and fascination in your composition. Combine these with colour, line and layering to create spectacular results.

It is strange that we haven’t got around to using the fantastic potential of modern cameras and printers to create papers for ourselves.
Images can be easily and cheaply photographed and manipulated in free and easily available photo editing software. (If you are uncertain what is available then just Google the best free editing software for pc or mac.)
A normal office inkjet printer usually has inks that remain water-soluble when dry and so this has to be taken into account, but they still make very good papers that can be varnished to seal the inks.
Recently I have been focusing on the possibilities of paper inspired by the Japanese art of Momigami and the Korean art of Joomchi. I am sharing this journey with you and I hope you find it as inspiring as I have.
My practice is eclectic and I have developed a number of unique processes which I will film and share as we go along.
One of the most enjoyable things about the channel is the discussion form that it creates and I really look forward to sharing ideas and inspiration with everyone.
Many thanks for watching and all the very best, Louise x
