Deltarune - The Third Sanctuary Remix LuminousVale 2025-07-16 | (I don't really have much to say about this song or remix, other than "haha cool time signatures toby", so im just gonna yap about chp 3 & 4. spoilers ahead...)Tbh I didn't really like chapters 3 & 4 all that much. Which made me a little sad since Toby Fox has had a pretty great track record up to this point.Chapter 3 to me felt boring and repetitive, especially with the reuse of the green room and the Zelda minigame (both were major areas that were used 3 times). I also thought that Tenna was a really bland character. Like, nothing about him felt particularly interesting to me. He just feels like another "look at me, I'm so wacky!" character, but without the depth or quirks that make similar characters like Queen, Lancer, and Spamton somewhat endearing. I also found the Lanino/Elnina/Roulx love triangle subplot super obnoxious. I wouldn't have minded it that much, but it takes up a decent amount of screentime in the chapter, and the joke gets old pretty fast imo. Chapter 4 was better, but not by a whole lot. This chapter puts a lot more focus on the prophecy/roaring knight plotline, which I personally never found that interesting. I can't speak for everyone when I say this, but I feel like that particular aspect of Deltarune wasn't what made people enjoy chapters 1 and 2 lol. I'm assuming Toby wanted to use this chapter to give this plotline a chance to shine, but it didn't for me. Especially with how the prophecy itself was *mostly* just spoon-feeding information we already knew, which felt like a very lazy case of "tell, don't show". I also felt like there was a lot less thought put into the world-building of the new Dark World, which was also a problem I had with chp 3. Both the dark worlds felt more like video game levels rather than worlds that operated independently of the player. Things like the shops, businesses, castle, car traffic, palace, social hierarchies, advertising, etc. that were present in chp 1 & 2, were much less prominent in chp 3 & 4's dark worlds, which I felt made them feel kinda empty and lifeless. While I don't think chp 3 & 4 are outright bad, I feel like they're dangerously close to being average, which makes me a little sad since I felt like Deltarune had a great thing going with the first two chapters :/Anyway, for funsies, I'll rank the chapters according to how I feel about them:1. nicos nextbots - sherbet lobby (remix) LuminousVale 2025-05-29 | I found out about this song after bingeing some of the nico's nextbots ost. There are a lot of really great songs in the ost, but I really liked "sherbet lobby" and "video game lobby" in particular. I wanted to remix one of them, so I settled on sherbet lobby since it had the cute Yume Nikki animation by gobou that I could use for the video and thumbnail. I usually use MIDIs online to make my remixes, but there wasn't one available. So, for the first time, I decided to transcribe a song myself! I sorta did this before with the Mindwave video, but the midi I made was missing some parts and was fairly basic. As an amateur transcriber, this song was perfect for me lol. A lot of stuff in this song repeats itself for the whole song like the bass line and the chord progression, and there's only a small handful of melodies you have to transcribe. The only parts that were kinda tough to transcribe were the percussion and those little chiptune bursts that play every two measures. I could not for the life of me figure out how to transcribe that part into notes. I felt like that part was made using some special plugin or arpeggiator, but it was probably made with some simple technique I was too pea-brained to figure out.In terms of accuracy, the MIDI template I made was probably at least 80% accurate to the original, which I think is pretty good :P(also, crust crease, if you're reading this, I finished playing "In Stars in Time"! my thoughts on the game overall are a bit mixed, but for the most part, I enjoyed the game. Mario Paint - Monkey Song Remix LuminousVale 2025-04-08 | I remember first hearing this song while listening to WarioWare DIY's soundtrack. There's an easter egg in the game that lets you change the editor music to Mario Paint tracks. Monkey Song, which was a Mario Paint song, was included into DIY's OST, which led me to finding it. This song came to my head while I was thinking of new songs to remix. I thought since I was able to remix Creative Exercise, I could also remix this song as well since they're both kind of bossa nova-esque songs. tho Monkey Song seems to lean more on the Latin side of bossa nova than Creative Exercise does. also, for some reason, the Pipa instrument (Chinese guitar thingie at 0:49) works surprisingly well with both songs (I used one for creative exercise, too). I thought this was kind of interesting since Eastern-sounding instruments usually don't appear in jazzy/bossa nova stuff that often, so it was cool hearing how fitting the two can sound together. I know it's only been 3 months, but it's felt longer to me for some reason. Technictix - Cell Phone Boom Remix LuminousVale 2024-11-26 | I found out about this song while listening to my YouTube auto-generated mixes. I thought the way the song used phone sound effects for the music was really cool, so I got interested in trying to remix it. Considering how niche and complex the song was, I didn't think there'd be a MIDI of it lying around online. Lucky for me, there was this one person with a dejiko pfp (di gi charat yay) who uploaded a high-quality midi of it onto MidiShow :PI decided to try some new things for this remix, so I used some short vocal samples and phone sound effects in the remix to mimic the original song. I usually try to avoid throwing sound effects into my remixes since I think it feels kinda gimmicky and immersion-breaking. but it felt natural for me to use them here since I thought the original song used the sound effects very well.For the vocal samples of the phone lady, I trimmed out some audio from two YouTube videos. The original song used a different sample, but obviously, that'd be extremely hard to find, so I didn't use it. I also used a sound bite that wasn't in the original song ("...and then dial your operator."), which I used to replace the ("this is a recording") sound bite that was used in the original. Deltarune - Welcome to the City Remix LuminousVale 2024-09-27 | 3rd and last remix I'll be uploading today. I made this waaaaay back before I made the two other remixes from today. Back when I finished it, I wasn't really sure if I wanted to upload it or not. Something about it felt kinda bland (don't ask me why it was just vibes ~_~), so I dropped the idea of uploading it. Recently, I decided to use this particular remix as one of my six submissions for the 2024 VGM Summer Megamix. WarioWare DIY - Body Rock Remix LuminousVale 2024-04-22 | "Dancing is the key, and life is the lock" lolAfter my last WarioWare remix, I got SUPER into WarioWare. I played every game in the series up to Move It! (aside from Game & Wario, since I don't have a Wii U), and it quickly became one of my favorite video game series. As for my thoughts on the series, I would say my favorite entries were Get It Together, Twisted, and Gold, while my least favorites were Move It! and the DIY duology.I didn't intend to make the remix sound EDM/House-styled. It kinda just came out that way as I was playing around with instruments. It's pretty different from how I usually remix songs, but I think it turned out well. Though I'm a little annoyed that the remix turned out so short. I personally think the remix is as long as it should be, but the short run time might turn off some people, which worries me a little. I'm also a bit worried about the music overpowering the vocals. Like, I listened to the remix a bunch of times, and it didn't seem like a huge problem, but I might've just gotten used to it or something. Omori - Good Morning Remix LuminousVale 2024-01-30 | First off, I have 1000 subscribers now! Thank you to anyone who's been along for the ride. It's weird to think I've been doing this remix thing for four years.Anyway, I played Omori! My feelings about the game are a bit mixed. The art and music are extremely well done and the story is mostly pretty good (the twist was kinda dumb tho). But the headspace sections (besides otherworld) are a real drag. They felt tedious, badly paced, and pointless (sweetheart’s castle being the worst offender). Omori’s gameplay is obviously not one of its strong suits, so it sucks that so much of the game is dedicated to it. It also doesn't help that the game’s combat and flavor text are pretty bland as well. Because of that, I have a really hard time calling Omori a great game, which I think is a shame since I do genuinely admire the game from an aesthetic and narrative standpoint.Regarding the remix, I made a goal to myself after I finished Omori to get at least one remix of a song on the channel. I thought it'd be easy since there are a lot of cool songs in Omori, but a lot of them are pretty short, which means more work for me when remixing (bleh). Anyway, I settled on Good Morning since it's one of the few songs that's close to two minutes. WarioWare DIY - D.I.Y. Shop Remix LuminousVale 2023-11-23 | I couldn't find any WarioWare DIY fanart, so I opted to use a picture of Penny and Ashley again just like last time. Unlike before, I actually know who these characters are now thanks to my recent WarioWare binge :PAnyway, I finished and completed my first WarioWare game yesterday! It was the first game in the series that came out on the GBA. I really liked the game a lot. Actually playing one of the games made me appreciate the microgame concept a lot more. The clever quantity-over-quality style gameplay really was a revolutionary concept that Nintendo nailed down super well.Since I finished the first Wario game, I felt like remixing a song from the game. Sadly, I couldn't find a decent midi for one of the songs. So I decided to do one from WarioWare DIY again.One instrument that stands out in particular is the alto saxophone sample. I took it from the Touhou soundfont pack, and it sounds surprisingly close to what a real sax sounds like (well to me at least), which is helpful since I was kinda going for a jazzy disco vibe. You can kinda see this at 1:04 where I turn the funk up by using a four-on-the-floor rhythm and having a clav play the bassline. Aside from the sax sample, I also used some pizzicato/plucking samples a couple times (the first use is at 0:11), which I think gives those parts a pleasant and bittersweet feeling. For the last bit of the song, I had to tweak the notes to resolve themselves since the song was never designed to end. I didn’t really plan on remixing it since it felt way out of my league but I found a really good midi for this song and thought I’d try it anyway. Undertale LuminousVale 2023-10-09 | Hi, I'm back! Since I went on a really long hiatus, I thought I'd come back with a longer remix. I started remixing this song around the time of Undertale's 8th Year Anniversary. Obviously, I couldn't finish a 6-minute remix in one day on time with the anniversary, so I just did as much as I could at the time. I left it unfinished for a while, but I decided to finish it up recently. I used a couple of LABS's audio samples for this remix. Stuff like guitars, plucky violins, staccato violins, and some cellos with a lot of vibrato. This was my first time actually using plugins and vst stuff, so it was kinda of fun messing around with the new instruments. That said, the plugin stuff did make run Garageband pretty slow. Previewing the audio was next to impossible since I'd keep getting pop-ups telling me that my computer's RAM sucks. The song being six minutes certainly didn't help with this issue. Aside from those technical problems, I had a pretty good time remixing this song. WarioWare DIY - Graphics Editor Remix LuminousVale 2023-03-18 | I randomly found this song in a short meme playlist* of garota de venda medicamento rips (which I wish there were more of). I thought this song sounded cool, so I looked for a midi and made a remix. I like to think of this song as a sort of successor to creative exercise. a charmingly kooky song made for some Nintendo game/creation app thingie. I copied an idea from my bein' friends remix, using an out-of-the-piano, dropping the percussion, and slowly building up for the third loop (1:49). it's a pretty good lazy strat for making sure a remix reach goes past the two-minute mark. it also gives the remix a bit of a verse/chorus/bridge feel. OneShot - On Little Cat Feet Remix LuminousVale 2023-02-11 | So I played OneShot pretty recently, and I thought it was pretty good! The only gripe I have with the game is its slow pacing, but I think the meta elements, art, music, and story help make up for it. Deltarune - Ferris Wheel ~ Lofi Remix LuminousVale 2022-12-25 | Just to preface, I'm not planning to start a three-vid christmas tradition thing. I just happened to have these 3 remixes lying around and wanted to share them :PAnyway, this remix was made at around the same time as the Lost Girl one. I can't remember if I made this before or after that song, but I remember making this remix after feeling inspired by a lofi version of Ferris Wheel from Lavos's compilation mixes. Lofi 's kind of a hit-or-miss genre for me, so it hearing the style pulled off pretty well made me want to try it as well. For this remix, I used arpeggiators that made some watery sounds, some electronic drums (most lofi uses these), and my usual loadout of synths and bells. I really liked how the flute in the lofi of version Ferris Wheel (the one I mentioned earlier), so I did the same thing for my remix - particularly for the main melody. Since lofi is a genre that generally helps with concentration and focus, I didn't want too much variation, so the second half of the song is just the first half just with some organs added in. btw, this video and the lost girl one didn't get copyright claims for some reason. Deltarune - Lost Girl Remix LuminousVale 2022-12-25 | I made this a while back in October. I was kinda curious about what this remix would sound like in my style, so I decided to start a little early for whatever I was gonna do on Christmas. It's also my favorite song in Chapter 2, so there's also that reason.For this remix, I used arpeggiators and whatever instruments that had a lonely, icy feel to them. I dropped the melody for the first part of the remix, to show off the bass part, which I thought had a nice silent hill-eque vibe to it. With slow songs like this, It's hard to add new instruments without things sounding jarring, so the second half of the song is just the first half + that trippy synth bell I use a lot. This song manages to sound elegant, oriental (chinese sounding), mysterious, cute, and lively all at the same time. ZUN described this particular track as his "toy-box" and it definitely shows with how creative and dynamic this song is. I thought that the violin that came right after the beautiful piano intro sounded pretty derpy in the original, so I decided to change it into an understated organ accompanied by some soft strings for the remix. Also the bandoneon/accordion makes its glorious return in 1:35 after six touhou remixes of not being used. That particular part was just begging to be played by a reed instrument. 東方 Touhou 6 - Septette for the Dead Princess Remix ~ Remilias Theme (Stage 6/Final Boss Theme) LuminousVale 2022-03-16 | imo this is one of the best final boss themes ever. there is so much to love about this song. the epic Beethoven-esque melody, the satisfying air of finality and conclusiveness, this amazing part at 1:05, and that insane piano solo at the end. I could not think of a better song that could've accompanied this fight and closed off the game. one of the all-time best Touhou songs imo.I'm pretty happy with how the remix came out. The part at 1:19 could be a little better, but everything basically sounds exactly how I wanted it to. I was especially pleased with how 1:05 sounded. Deltarune - Field of Hopes and Dreams Remix LuminousVale 2021-12-08 | Since the Hopes and Dreams remix did so well, I decided to follow up with a Deltarune remix to milk that video's success. Pretty sure this video won't surpass that one, but then again, I also thought the karakuri spirits video wouldn't surpass the yokai disco video, so who knows. This was a fun song to remix. There were a lot of complicated moving parts layered over each other, which made it fun to figure out what instruments would work best for some sections. Toby really went ham on how many instruments he wanted playing together at the same time.Also yeah the dispute on the hopes and dreams video. I lost the dispute, so it's still claimed. Really makes you feel like you're close to the end.Looking back at my stage 4 remix, I felt that it kinda lacked variety in the instrument department, so for this stage remix, I made sure that certain instruments didn't overstay their welcome once they joined in. I kinda lost interest after a while, but I still think she's cool.anyway, the remix. i was shooting for a "magical and mysterious" vibe, so I used a bunch of weird synth bells with reverb.
