Shows how to find the keys and exit in the Vesperas level in the Doom II Master Levels.
Note that there's an extremely thin, raised ledge that runs along the south half of the circular pit on the west side of the map. You can step onto this ledge from the tall platform on the east side of the pit, and then follow the ledge to the compartment where the yellow key is found. To keep from falling off, try pressing yourself into the wall as you move along the ledge.

This involves using the edge-activation exploit on the switch that lowers the barrier blocking access to the northeast quadrant of the map. Once it's down you can Strafe-Run across the gap to the platform leading northeast. (See youtu.be/mq-VUpLAaww?t=33 for a video showing how to open the exit chamber once you've reached that area.)
Note that in this video the player grabs a radiation suit to avoid taking damage from the slime, but that too can be bypassed (see youtu.be/aNmgktag5Ec for an example).

To reach the platform, a player must activate a pair of slow-rising bridges. The first bridge connects the far side of the lava pit to the exit door, and is activated by a switch in a small booth located below and left of the exit door. The second bridge connects the first bridge to the Secret platform, and is activated when the player walks up to the exit door.
A potential problem is that the second bridge is programmed to rise to whatever height that the first bridge was at when the second was activated. This means that if the first bridge had not yet reached its maximum height when the second was activated, then the second bridge won't reach its own maximum height. This situation can make the Secret platform inaccessible.
(Typically a player activates the switch for the first bridge, then steps into the teleporter next to it in order to escape the pit and eventually get back to the exit door. This procedure gives more than enough time for the first bridge to finish rising before the second can be activated.)
Notes on the making of this demo: This was made in single-player Deathmatch mode to allow the player to start closer to the exit, and with all 3 keys already acquired.
See classicdoom.com/maps/d1secs/e2m4.htm for a map of all score-affecting Secrets.

Shows how to access all Official (score-affecting) Secret areas in PC Doom II level 1, Entryway. Enable Captions for on-screen notes. This video also shows that a 100% Items score can be achieved without picking up weapons, ammo, full armor vests or health packs. (On this level, only the green armor helmets and blue health potions count toward the Items score.)
To open the chamber containing the rocket launcher, you need to step across the top of the west-side pedestal in the larger room to the south, as seen at about 24s in the video. To do this, the player character has to be running from the nearby elevated platform. In PC games, running is typically enabled by holding the Shift key. In Classic Doom games on modern consoles, running is typically enabled by holding the Left trigger on the controller.
Note however that some modern versions of Doom II have an 'Always Run' option that can be toggled on/off. If your version of the game has an Always Run option and it's currently On, then attempting to Run by holding Shift/L-trigger will make the player character move at normal speed instead.

And, yes this has been seen many times before on YouTube, so it wasn't going to be done here.
But... then again it'd be kinda weird if this was the only Doom channel that never mentioned it...
The first hidden non-Secret area in this video is at the level's entry point, and is a chamber containing a shotgun and some health bonuses.
Nearby to the east is a large square block that can be activated like a switch, causing it to sink into the floor. This reveals a chaingun and, when playing at higher Skill levels, 2 or 4 Spectre Demons.
Next is a large, dark room on the east side of the level. Stepping across a small lit-up square on the floor will cause a pair of chambers to open in the north end of the room, revealing 4 Demons, some ammo, and a BFG 9000.
Last is a Soul Sphere and plasma rifle, located in the middle of the south edge of the map. To reach these objects the player must activate the nearby switch and also step on a floor trigger in a small space just across from the switch.
The switch and floor trigger control low platforms that will temporarily drop down to allow access. These can be activated in either order, so long as it's done quickly enough to let you get onto both platforms before they rise again.

Spoilers follow:
The most useful tip for the scenario seen here is to use your rocket launcher, and try firing when the top edge of the front of the launcher lines up with the bottom edge of the wall-demon's chin.
You may need to adjust your timing to account for your own reflexes, and/or adjust your strategy if you're playing a modified or non-retail version of the game.

This level has no score-affecting secret areas, so a 0% Secrets score is normal here. Some third-party source ports will automatically show a 100% score for levels with no Secrets.

At games played at Skill 3, 4 or 5, each pit is initially occupied by a live monster, and this will prevent the player from falling in. But at lower Skills only the center pit is occupied; and at all Skill levels it's possible to kill these monsters with splash-damage from rockets, leaving those pits empty.
The bottoms of the pits will rise up to floor level (freeing trapped monsters) if the player first steps into the nearby alcove where a Megasphere is located.
Note that it's fairly easy to cross empty pits when moving quickly or steadily, but the danger increases when moving slower.

Shows how to access all score-affecting Secret areas and both keys. Note: In the room where the yellow key is found, the pair of low barriers blocking access to the wall panels will temporarily drop whenever an invisible 'tripwire' is crossed. There's a tripwire in the stairway leading up to the room, and other tripwires located a couple/few paces behind each panel.
Also, the yellow key isn't actually used in this video, and is not needed to reach an exit or to get a 100% Secrets score. The key allows access to an area in the southeast that holds some useful Items. (Use the secret panel seen at about 1m18s in the video, and follow the path upstairs.)

Reveals where and how to access the exit leading to the secret level in Episode 3 of PC Doom/Ultimate Doom. Three different methods are shown here. Read below for more info.
The secret exit can be found on level E3M6, Mt. Erebus. To view a map showing the locations of the exits on that level, access classicdoom.com/maps/d1exit/e3m6.htm
The first method involves an Invulnerability Artifact and a rocket launcher. (This was the 'official' method to access the exit before the speed benefits of 'strafe running' became widely known.)
Note that on Skill levels 2 through 5, the rocket's explosion alone will be enough; but on Skill level 1, you'll also need to run backwards while the rocket is detonating.
The second method involves using a simultaneous combination of Run-forward plus Strafe-sideways. This 'strafe running' maneuver yields a speed that's slightly faster than plain running, but moves the player character at an odd angle.
The third method (or 'trick') here involves activating a switch from one of its edges; an esoteric technique used by some Doom veterans.

To end this level you have to kill all of the Cyberdemons (there's one or more depending on Skill setting). You can use any weapon(s) for this. When the last one dies you exit automatically.
At all Skill levels, at least one Cyberdemon is trapped in a cave-like area, behind twin sets of bars. This video shows how to remove those bars, and an example of defeating the Cyberdemon.
With certain weapons it's possible, though sometimes tricky, to attack trapped Cyberdemons by shooting between the vertical bars. See youtu.be/r7Yff1kJIsY for an example.

In the patched version of this level, those two openings are blocked by grates, keeping the player near the courtyard until the key is acquired.
In both versions of the level, when the red key is picked up, a barrier that had sealed off the stairway to the courtyard will open again, allowing passage in either direction.
Notes on the making of this video: Both of these examples start from a place where the player has already acquired the yellow key and is entering the courtyard. For this video all enemies were removed in order to skip combat and quickly show the changed part of the level.

In the original PC Doom II game, fireballs from Barons and Hell Knights could not affect either monster (but melee attacks are universally damaging). When porting the game to PlayStation 1, a change in the code allowed each monster's fireball to injure the other monster type, giving rise to potential fights between them. That same basic change later appeared in Doom 64.
Notes on the making of this video: This was made on map 11, Terror Core. Although it's already pretty easy to get this fight to occur here, a few enemies were removed from the area ahead of time in order to better isolate the encounter.
Baron vs Hell Knight combat can occur elsewhere in the game, such as the earlier level Final Outpost; but this level was chosen in order to quickly get to the action and have an up-close view.

Note that you'll need to Run or Strafe-run in order to cross between some platforms on this level. For more information on movement speeds in Doom 64, see youtu.be/PP90OPiemIk and the video description there.
If you fall into the dark pit found in the second half of the level, look for a very narrow set of steps at the bottom of the pit beneath the overhead cages. The steps form a zig-zagging path up and out. See youtu.be/PyB1Ij-KM7g for more info.
It can be tricky to jump into the cage at the edge of the pit (seen about 9 seconds into the video). The pillars in the pit area can temporarily raise up a little as you step onto them, and then fall again. Try Running from near the edge of a raised pillar, or from the middle of a lowered pillar.
Note that you don't have to reach the Secrets in any particular order, but, you can't pick up the secret Mega-armor vest, or get credit for discovering it, if your armor level is already at 200%. This is why the Mega Sphere was picked up after the armor in this video.

This level is one of the rare ones in Doom 64 where score-affecting Secrets include both objects and areas, and where the actual number of secret objects can change dynamically during play.
When the player first appears on this level, only 2 score-affecting Secrets exist: A blue Mega-armor vest, and the small square of floorspace beneath a Demon Artifact (one of three special objects hidden among the secret levels of Doom 64).
If the player picks up the Mega-armor, a new Soul Sphere ('Supercharge') is added to the level, increasing the score-affecting Secrets by 1. Also, if the player activates a particular object (one of the gargoyles) in the lower reaches of the level, a Berserk Pack will appear, and this too will raise the level's score-affecting Secrets by 1.
Because of these potential changes during play, a player's final non-zero Secrets score can range from 25% to 100%, depending on which secret objects are added to the map, and which of the currently-existing Secrets have been bypassed, if any.
In this video, the player character first picks up the Demon Artifact, simultaneously crossing the Secret-flagged floorspace beneath. This changes the player's current possible Secrets score from 0% to 50% (1 of 2 existing Secrets now discovered).
Next, the player character picks up the blue Mega-armor, which also adds a Secret-flagged Soul Sphere to one of the nearby tunnels. This changes the player's current Secrets score to 66% (2 of 3 existing Secrets now discovered). Note that the armor must be picked up in order to count as a Secret discovered, and if your armor level is already at 200% you won't be able to grab it.
Then the player picks up the new Soul Sphere, changing the Secrets score to 100% (3 of 3 discovered).
The player then activates one of the special gargoyle objects, which adds a Secret Berserk Pack to the spiral-staircase area, and changes the player's current Secrets score from 100% to 75% (3 of 4 existing Secrets discovered). For an example of getting a 75% score this way, see youtu.be/sIOUFDRQmJc
Finally the player picks up the recently added Berserk Pack, changing the score again to 100% (4 of 4 discovered).
Note that other hidden objects/items may also be found on this map, but these are not flagged as Secret, and so will not affect the player's Secrets-found score. For more information check out youtu.be/Ep_FKn0FwhY
Notes on the making of this video: Generally speaking this is a 'no monsters'-style demo, made to quickly show the stated objectives without additional minutes of combat. However, specific enemies are present when they are needed to trigger events that allow a player to progress through the level.
This video replaces one from 2013 at youtu.be/hYpcDF-5L8k and now includes some on-screen notifications showing when each Secret is discovered, and now shows the Secrets-found score at the end. It's also at a higher resolution and frame rate.

Access classicdoom.com/d64maps/02-k1.htm for a map of the key locations.
ABOUT THE BLUE KEY ROOM
When you first find the blue key, it will be resting on a short pedestal in the center of the room. On the back of the pedestal is a switch. Activate it to lower the pedestal. When you then attempt to grab the blue key, it disappears.
(Note: For an example of an exploit that allows the player to grab the blue key directly from the center pedestal, see youtu.be/OpByxFBxPqE and the video description there.)
The blue key will then pop in and out of existence along the tops of the other pedestals in the corners of the room. Eventually the key comes to rest on one of them (the final pedestal is chosen at random). When this happens, 4 doors open up along the back of the room, and behind each of these doors is a switch. To either side of 3 of these 4 switches are short vertical slabs rising out of the floor. Go to the one switch where those slabs are missing.
When you activate this switch, the pedestal where the blue key now rests will drop. Run (remember your 'Speed' or 'Run' button) to the pedestal before it rises again.
A useful alternative to plain running is to use a simultaneous combination of Run-forward plus Strafe-sideways. This 'Strafe Running' method will move the player character at an odd angle, but at a speed slightly faster than normal running. (See youtu.be/PP90OPiemIk for a video demonstration of movement speeds in Doom 64, and see below for additional details about Running controls in various versions of the game.)
If the pedestal rises up before you grab the blue key, just go back to the switch and try again.
If you activate any of the 3 switches that have those slabs to either side, part of the ceiling overhead will briefly drop and crush you, possibly killing you if your health is low.
See youtu.be/yRejU7Xn3LY for another example of the blue-key puzzle.

ABOUT 'RUNNING' IN DOOM 64
In all classic Doom games, the player character can walk or run. In the original N64 game, the default Run button (named 'Speed') was the left-most of the 4 yellow 'C' buttons on the right half of the N64 controller.
All Doom 64 games or modern ports allow controller buttons or keyboard keys to be assigned/re-assigned to different functions. 'Run' or other functions can be checked or (re)assigned by first opening the game's Main menu, then:
In N64 Doom 64: Options - Control Pad - Speed
In the 2020 Doom 64 ports: Options - Input - Bindings - Speed
In Doom64 EX: Options - Controls - Bindings - Run
NOTE: Some of the Doom 64 ports or conversions above also have a separate 'Autorun' (automatic, continuous run) function. In such games, if Autorun is already On at any given time, then activating Run/Speed at the same time will actually slow you down to walking speed.
Note that the original N64 game will not preserve changes to controller layout (or any other user-configurable settings) once the N64 is reset or powered down.

If you have trouble running in Doom 64: Under the game's Options menu, check your controller/key bindings to find/enable/(re)assign your Run (or 'Speed') button. Modern ports of Doom 64 also have an 'Autorun' option (also under bindings). If Autorun is On, then using Run at the same time will actually slow you.
Notes on the making of this video: Generally speaking this is a 'no monsters'-style demo, made to quickly show the stated objectives without additional minutes of combat. However, specific enemies are present when they are needed to trigger events that allow a player to progress through the level.
Side note about the blue key: The switch seen at 34 seconds in this video can be triggered by shooting it with a pistol, shotgun or chaingun. Modern retail ports of Doom 64 also allow the Unmaker/laser weapon to trigger the switch, but the original N64 game does not.
This video replaces one made in April of 2020 ( youtu.be/KIHj2DEQfWA ) and is over half a minute faster.

Note that it is technically possible to get the key while evading all of the darts, but this can be difficult, and take several attempts. Because of this, some players choose to grab the nearby Invulnerability Sphere first.
If you have trouble reaching the pedestal where the Invulnerability power-up sits, try Strafe-Running, using a simultaneous combination of Run-forward plus Strafe-sideways. This moves the player character at an odd angle, but provides a bit more speed than plain forward running. (For more info on the various movement speeds in Doom 64, see youtu.be/PP90OPiemIk and the video description there.)

Note that taking the Soul Sphere will start a scripted event that lasts several seconds. While this is happening, other scripted events, such as enemy ambushes, are suspended. This can allow you to pick up the red key and blue key without the threat of attack. The Mega-armor trap sequence is also suspended, but will eventually resume, which can prevent you from exiting the level.

To unlock this Achievement/Trophy, the player must finish level 24, No Escape, when playing at Skill 4, 'Watch Me Die!'. (Finishing this level, or simply killing any Cyberdemon in Doom 64, can also unlock the 'Rip and Tear' Achievement/Trophy.)
Note: Using cheats (cheat codes/functions/parameters/console commands) in a game of Doom 64 can prevent Achievements/Trophies from being unlocked during that game. (No cheats were used in the making of this video.) Passwords can be used, and in general will not interfere with unlocking Achievements/Trophies.
The custom-built password used here starts a new Skill-4 game on level 24, No Escape, and provides the player with maximum health and armor, all weapons, a backpack, maximum ammo, and 2 of the 3 possible Demon Artifacts. (Demon Artifacts enhance the player's Unmaker weapon, and can be used as special keys/activators later in the game.)
To finish this level the player must destroy all Cyberdemons on the map. When playing at Skill 4, there will be 3 Cyberdemons to deal with: one patrolling the main open area, and two more in a cave that is initially closed off by sets of vertical bars.
Notes on the making of this video: Normally a player is expected to visit certain parts of the map in order to release the last pair of Cyberdemons; but it is possible to skip these areas and attack the Cyberdemons without releasing them.
The 2-Artifact version of the Unmaker weapon is especially useful here, as it has a powerful but narrow beam pattern that can be fired through the gaps between the bars that seal the cave. (See youtu.be/Y-tqD9eHuoE for more information about the various configurations and power levels of the Unmaker.)
If you run out of cell ammo for the Unmaker, the chaingun or single-barrel shotgun are also good for shooting through the vertical bars.

This hidden exit is on level 1, Staging Area. Opening it requires that the player destroy all of the explosive barrels on this level. They can be destroyed in any order, and with any weapon. NOTE: When the last barrel explodes, this exit opens for a few moments, then closes permanently. For that reason it is strongly recommended to save one of the starting-room barrels for last.
To view a map that shows the location of this hidden exit, and all of the barrels (numbered in the order that they are encountered here), access http://classicdoom.com/d64secx1.htm
Note that there are 2 teleporters that can be used to get back to the starting area. The one used here is an ordinary multi-use teleporter. The other is a hidden (but not Secret) teleporter that can only be used once. Also, using it during a normal game will cause Sergeants to spawn into the starting area. This hidden teleporter is in the same long hallway where the blue-keyed door is found, and can be revealed by Activating the wall panel directly across from that door. (See youtu.be/KkY9gQsUgsI for a similar video that shows the use of that hidden teleporter.)

The custom-built password used here starts a new game on level 25, Cat and Mouse, and provides the player with maximum health and armor, all weapons, a backpack, maximum ammo, and all 3 Demon Artifacts. To unlock this Achievement/Trophy, the player must find all 3 Demon Artifacts in the main campaign. (Demon Artifacts enhance the player's Unmaker weapon, and can be used as special keys/activators elsewhere in the game.)
The custom-built password used here starts a new game on level 30, The Lair, at Skill 1, 'Be Gentle!', and provides the player with maximum health and armor, all weapons, a backpack, maximum ammo, and 2 of the possible 3 Demon Artifacts. The missing Artifact can be acquired on this level.

With these weapons in hand, it's also fairly easy to continue playing this level and get the 'Mother May I?' Achievement/Trophy (150G/Bronze). See youtu.be/xfGBt2KbxLU for an example of meeting the requirements to unlock it.
