NOTE: The gameobject already has an idle animation set up with the spritesheet named 'HamsterMain'. This loops through the frames: HamsterMain_0, HamsterMain_1, HamsterMain_2, HamsterMain_3.
In this Unity tutorial we will be setting up character customization using spritesheets, animations included. This does NOT make use of a rigged/skeletal character, but actual frame by frame hand drawn animations.

Finding Xavier is a short high precision platformer in which you are trying to find your cat, Xavier.
The techniques used in this video to create Finding Xavier are 'perfect' for this game. With this I mean that these things are exactly the way I wanted them to be. These aren't specifically guidelines on how to make a perfect platformer, as opinions per person vary. Feel free to take these tips as you'd like.

In this devlog on Adventure of Tuck I will be mainly going over some changes to the map generation. Aside from that I made a few smaller changes to the game as well.
Adventure of Tuck is a roguelite game in which you play as Tuck. Tuck wants to become a writer but in order to get inspiration, he went out to the forest to clear his mind. This is where his adventure begins.
My name is Ken and I am from the Netherlands! One of my many hobbies is game development, which I started with in 2016-2017. This project, Adventure of Tuck, is a project I started with in 2019. Adventure of Tuck is made in Unity.
In this devlog (#13) I'll be going over the changes I've made on the level up system. I was unsatisfied with the old leveling system as it was very difficult to balance. I ended up adding a system that is somewhat similar to Hades' Boon system.

➡ GENERAL INFO Ludum Dare is an online event where games are made from scratch in a weekend. Last weekend I made a game in Unity for LD49. Two people, a pilot and an engineer, are flying their spaceship, when out of nowhere they get attacked. In order to escape, they decide to fly into an asteroid field. With their partially broken spaceship, they need to use their grapple hook to retrieve scrap in order to repair their ship. Because of this whole situation, both the pilot and the engineer are getting on each other's nerves.

➡ GENERAL INFO A total of around 40 game developers were rounded up to remake the original Mario Party. I got to choose the game Bombs Away, since I have always enjoyed minigames similar to this one.
Bombs Away is a 4-player minigame in which the goal is to stay on the island. A ship appears in the background which shoots cannonballs towards the island. The impact of the cannonballs add a force to the island which makes it tilt accordingly. You can jump on and bump into other hamsters to make their life just a bit more difficult. Make sure you are not touching the ground when a cannonball hits the island, or else you'll get stunned and you have to wiggle your way out! At the end there is a little surprise where a torpedo hits the island from below blasting the players up into the air. Make sure you land back on the island if you want to win!
This game was made as part of a challenge hosted by Jirushi and the Devlogs Club – which consists of BLANKdev, Whateep, and Andrew David.
Songs used in the video: • Harris Heller - Skyward • Harris Heller - Pixel Sunrise • Harris Heller - The Color of Happiness • Harris Heller - Guilty Spark
Quick note: The quality of the glow elements in the video isn't the way it looks in game, as I unfortunately can't record in the highest possible quality.
In this video I will be showcasing my GMTK 2021 gamejam entry called 'My Turret Friend' in which I focused on game feel. I wanted this game to feel incredibly fun to play, in which game feel takes a major role.

'Your game looks like this game, your game looks like that game!!'. Yes, I am aware that top-down games exist and that some of them have a forest area. No, my game is not a 'copy' of these other games. If you do want to mention it looks similar to other games, please do it in a positive way since comments like these often come over as people accusing me of copying. The entire idea for my game came from me experimenting with random world generation, which was something on my 'things-I-want-to-learn' list since I first started with game development in 2016.

I've also switched up the start for this video, as I am still figuring out this whole video-making stuff. I've learned that it's important to instantly grab the viewers attention, which is hard to do if every video just starts off with 'Hey, my name is… and I'm working on this game'.

There will be a total of 10 different bosses in the game. I won't be going as much into detail for the other bosses, as I don't want to spoil the entire game through the devlogs. This is also the last video showcasing content I had already finished before starting with this YouTube channel. After this, the content will be about the current progress that I am making.
