The controls for player 1 weren't actually working properly, the crosshairs wouldn't go to the top of the screen. I mentioned this to the staff who were working there and they very kindly gave me another free go from the player 2 side (this was working, but the crosshairs were a little bit jittery)

Point Blank X is the last major release in the classic comedy lightgun series (as of the time of writing, at least) and was initially released in arcades back in 2016. It features a bunch of remixed levels from previous games in the series, with a modern HD art style. This is a cracked version of it playable on PC I found online. Awesome.
My mate and I used to both own GunCon1s and PS1s and it was great fun taking my GunCon over to his house back in the day and playing his copy of Point Blank in 2P versus mode. I don't know why I never bought the game myself, I absolutely loved it. I did buy Ghoul Panic, which felt like a 3D polygon continuation of the series by Namco. I loved GP, but for reason it never clicked with Matt.

I always appreciate any Indie devs who take the time to contact me about their games, but, unfortunately, Parking Garage Rally wasn't really my particular cup of tea.
I wasn't really into this style of gameplay - lots and lots of tight 90 degree bends on very enclosed and samey looking tracks. I'm also not really a fan of stuff that's intentionally trying to look like a 32 bit console game (as much as I loved my Saturn and later PS1, I couldn't wait for 3D graphics to be more like the actual arcade titles that were around at the time, like the far superior looking Model 2 and Model 3 games) but, I do appreciate the work that's gone into this to give it that particular old school Sega Saturn look (right down to the lack of transparency effects and the use of dithering to simulate them). Controls felt tight and the drift mechanic felt intuitive.
But it seems to be getting some very positive reviews on STEAM, so I think it's really just a 'me' thing - I think I probably wasn't the right target audience for it. I prefer my arcade racers to be less like an 8-bit Mario Kart and more like an Outrun 2, Daytona USA or Sega Rally. But, hey, maybe this is the sort of thing that some of youse might enjoy, so I thought an upload was warranted at the very least! Thanks to Walaber Entertainment for sending me the STEAM key.

I totally cocked-up the barrel bashing bonus stage, that was definitely points down the toilet. I got several perfects, only used one continue (bloody Vega!), managed to beat Bison and complete the game, but only just scraped through one of the Bison rounds. I'm pretty rusty at the game these days, but the more I played, the easier the Dragon Punches started getting in the later rounds.

This was absolutely my favourite ever Megadrive game back in the day BTW. The level of hype that I built up for it in my brain before it's release was insane (particularly as it looked like, initially, Nintendo had exclusivity of the game for the SNES when the secured the rights to The World Warrior), which was only heightened by the awesome coverage the game got in UK gaming like Mean Machines Sega. Other than a few grainy voice samples and some missing frames of animation, this is an absolutely outstandingly close port of the arcade original. Gameplay is absolutely spot-on!

Gameplay is largely identical to that of Human Alliance, i.e. it's a rail shooter. The Pacific Ocean, Wales and East China stages can be played in any order before moving on to the final stage, The Moon.
I figured out the gear stick QTE event stuff was linked in to the up/down keys on the keyboard, but getting them to work consistently was really hit and miss.
"TRANSFORMERS Shadows Rising is the long-awaited follow up to the smash hit licensed video game TRANSFORMERS Human Alliance. In TRANSFORMERS Shadows Rising, players are partnered with three movie's stars, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Sideswipe to stop evil Megatron's plans."
I've never been the biggest fan of the Bayverse Transformers designs; so many of the characters just look indistinguishable from each other and this feels particularly so here. The boss battles in this one seemed to lack some of the character of the one's from the first game against the likes of Starscream and Soundwave. Fake Shockwave, evil Bumblebee and evil Optimus felt a bit meh, although the Grimlock one was fun (and the fact it was set in Wales of all places was amusing. If that boss battle takes place in Cardiff, that's only about an hour's drive away from where I live).

The very last boss in this absolutely fantastic game. Again, this guy was a bit trickier than some of the others, probably about on a par with the shark boss that just preceded him.

This game is a lot fun, pleasantly surprising considering the film it's based on was shite. Mowing down Terminators is something I could spend all day doing. It's really quite hard in places, the enemies give you very little reaction time before an attack (especially the annoying robo snake things). This is not a complete playthrough though, I unfortunately had to cut it short on the 6th level, for the simple reason I was absolutely busting for a piss - I'd captured a few other game before this and had drunk a huge amount of coffee and didn't think to have a 'comfort break' before starting this playthrough.
As I got to the end of the 6th stage I legged it to the bog hoping the cutscene would go on long enough to allow adequate peeing time and getting back before I ran out of life and the timer had counted down, but I'd left it so long the piss felt never ending. I just missed the cut-off for the timer as I ran back to try and credit up again. Oh well...

I forgot to mention in the video - It comes with a micro USB to USB A cable. As I also mention in the video - I've no idea if I plug this into the mains over here whether the voltage difference between the UK and the USA would fry it and whether it would really need a stepdown transformer. i'm just powering it with AA batteries at the moment.

I liked what I saw here! It definitely feels a bit more F-Zero X than GX like here with the rather sparsely detailed tracks, but for an indie title that (I believe) is just being handled by a 3 man team, this is impressive stuff.

The game features only a single stage, based on the first level from Streets of Rage 2, with the same enemies but with Yakuza makeovers. Once the level is concluded the game loops at a harder difficulty, with the game ending once the player runs out of lives.
Players can choose between Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima initially, with Ichiban Kasuga appearing as an unlockable character. However, all three characters play the same, with their moveset being based on Axel Stone's, down to recycling the same voice clips (the same applies for enemies).

The All Cup is something you can access in F-Zero GX with Gecko/Action Replay codes. This allows you to play on the Story Mode only tracks in Practice and Time attack as if they were just regular tracks, allowing you to add in extra CPU opponents and set the number of laps and also opening up your selection of ships to beyond just being the Blue Falcon. Awesome! You also get a snazzy little mini-map on the course selection screen. It also opens up a whole load of weird beta tracks, some of which are not exactly playable.
The music for this stage is absolutely bangin'!
This is being played on 🐬 Dolphin Emulator (v4 - I get better performance in the old version than v5)

One of these was the arcade bar Four Quarters Elephant and Castle specifically because I'd heard they had one of these bad boys there! An Outrun Deluxe moving mechanical cabinet. I haven't played on one of these since the late 1980's. I haven't so much as even played on an Outrun stand-up cabinet in gawd knows how long, so this was a real treat to play! And, oh man, this was so much fun!
There was also an Outrun 2 SP twin cabinet right next to it, which was sadly out of action (although it was actually receiving a bit of TLC whilst I was there, so hopefully they'll get it back up and running again soon). Fortunately though, I've actually quite recently(ish) encountered a 4 player Outrun 2 SP setup in my home city:

One of these was Funland Arcade, located in the Brunswick shopping centre in London, mainly because I knew they had a twin Daytona cabinet there. In recent years, I've found an upright Daytona cabinet in an arcade bar near me, that had knackered steering and a Twin Sega Racing Classics cabinet at a bowling alley, that had really stiff gears, but this is the first proper Daytona sit-down cabinet I've seen in probably about 25 years.
And using this cabinet, I finally managed to get a 1st place on the Advanced course, Dinosaur Canyon, using real arcade hardware. The steering was behaving as it was supposed to here and the gears felt fine, but unfortunately there was no force feedback, and the CRTs had been swapped out for what looked like incorrect aspect ration 16:9 LCD monitors (although, TBH, I stopped noticing that after a few goes).
Anyway, very pleased with this result! Worth the trip to London just for this, but those of you who follow me on Twitter, will know I found something just as awesome, if not maybe even better, in the next arcade bar I went to after this... A video upload on that will be incoming soon!

As a bit of a fair weather Joe fan (mainly through their association with the Transformers), I've been keeping half an eye on how this has been shaping up. I hadn't realised though that a demo's been out for awhile on Steam, so let's give it a whirl.
This is a 2 level demo, with a choice of 3 playable Joes; Snake Eyes, Scarlett or Duke (I'm guessing there's going to be some more unlockable characters along the way). I love the aesthetic choice here to do this game in the style of a 2D retro style side scrolling beat-em-up (I wish Sega had stuck with that for their new Golden Axe and Streets of Rage games, rather than going 3D). I absolutely loved Streets of Rage 4 and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge.
This is fun and exactly what I wanted in a game of this type. I was basically button mashing my way through it, so I'm not sure if there are any more moves or combos you can do (I couldn't see any info on extra moves in the options). The levels feels a bit basic and bare left to right at the moment, would be good if they had a bit more added to them to fancy them up a tad. The music is great, the pixel art on the characters is great.

The cabinet sound was very, very quiet for some reason, all you can really hear in the video is what sounds like a nearby Puzzle Bobble machine popping bubbles, so I added some royalty free Eurobeat for that true Initial D maximum cheesefest factor. Some of is actually from the game I thiiink.

Super Hang On - Real Arcade Upright Cabinet Gameplay. I had to overdub the sound in this as the music in the bar was causing a content ID match (it was a shite tune anyway).
As I started playing, someone started chatting to me from behind - one of my mates was in there and I hadn't seen him when I arrived, which is why you see me looking away from the cabinet a few times when I first start playing.

We were both doing pretty badly at this. Neil at least had the excuse of having had a few beers beforehand, whereas I was stone cold sober - my game does get better towards the last two challenges though. It was pretty hot, loud and neon light-tastic in here and when the challenge came up where you had to shoot the targets in numerical order or something, I literally did not have a clue what I was doing.

Quite a few games I did badly in, a few I did pretty well, so I'm obviously going to be cherry picking my best games for uploads.
For some annoying reason, I was really struggling to get the rocket start to work. I literally only managed it about 3 times in about 2 hours worth of games. The correct timing for when you take your foot off the brake on the 'GO' seems to have just evaporated from my brain...

I picked up a component cable adapter for my Elgato HD video capture device awhile back so I could get some far better quality 480p video capture of the Japanese bonus stages in Outrun 2 running on my softmodded original Xbox, rather than the incredibly shitty composite video device I'd been using up until then.
I've already uploaded some Outrun 2 videos a while back I recorded in this superior manner, this video here is actually a slightly earlier experiment one, where I was using OBS to record, the video capture with the device (easier to set-up, less likely to screw the recording up) instead of the proprietary Elgato software (takes ages to get going, more prone to corrupting the video and making it unusable, but can do higher quality recordings). Predictably, the OBS captured video quality didn't come out as good, but it was still a decent run on the stage, so I thought, eh, worth an upload at some point in the future...
The Japanese version of Outrun 2 on the Xbox is more accurate to the arcade original version of Daytona USA 2: Power Edition's Challenge course. There are some significant differences between this version and the western version.
The game starts on the right section of the track in the Japanese game. In the Western one it starts further back than Daytona USA 2 did. Starting further back on the track is less accurate to the arcade version, but it does make it easier to tackle the first proper corner you get to, because in the JPN version you don't have enough run up to get up to speed to initiate a proper full speed gear drift if you're using manual.
The bunki is covered over as you move from the first part (Joypolis 2020 Amusement Park - advanced) to the second part (Virtua City expert), like in the arcade version of Daytona USA 2. In the western game is just looks like a regular Outrun 2 bunki. This is a big, big improvement.
You come out of the bunki in the right area in the JPN version (which actually makes it much harder), than you did in the western game. The western game brings you out into a slightly different, earlier part of Virtua city, which is a little easier to navigate... this actually means that although the JPN version is more arcade accurate, you do actually get more bang for your buck as far as the Daytona 2 expert stage goes in the western game, including the big U turn at the end of it and the Grand Central Station.

My desktop PC can normally handle multiple instances of Supermodel OK. Together they are forming a 2 PC, 3 Emulator network. Oddly though, although both machines can run the game full speed in single player (and my desktop can normally do 2 instances in a single PC network full speed) when the 2 machines are linked, I get a bit of stuttering slowdown at times (but not all the time).

□ The sailing ship from Scud Race's 'Beginner Day' stage was missing in the Western versions. It's been added back in here
□ You've now got planes flying overhead in the 'Beginner Night ' stage part of the course, like in the arcade version of Scud Race. The planes on the ground have also been given a new lick of paint and are multi-coloured rather than the plain white ones in the EU and US versions of Outrun 2. There's also a plane on the ground on the second to last corner, the right-hand turn, that's also not in the Western versions.
□ The torches, in the 'Advanced Stage' where you go through the tunnel with the big U turn, are now properly lit, unlike the Western version. There's also a bit as you leave that stage area that has a wall with a big hole in it the Western versions. In the Japanese version there's a big idol head type thing, like in the actual Scud Race track.
