This short about TASBot's first charity appearance going sideways due to a desync while playing Gradius is from TASBot Re: Gradius which is the first video in the TASBot Revisited series where the history of how TAS runs were pitched (and how Gradius desynced) at AGDQ 2014. See the full uncut presentation of youtu.be/Tx5U_bh2uIk and check out https://TAS.bot/wiki/AGDQ_2014 for more details.
TASBot's very first run at a charity event was on January 5th, 2014 at AGDQ 2014 playing adelikat's TAS of Gradius with two console verification TAS replay attempts on a real console using true's NES/SNES replay device held in TASBot's hands. This TASBot Re: presentation is an opportunity to provide context around past charity event runs with full attribution of the TAS authors and presenters that helped make it all happen and the challenges the TASBot team faced.

Nintendo Entertainment System Gradius Tool-Assisted Speedrun by adelikat, author notes at tasvideos.org/1324S and published on TASVideos at tasvideos.org/711M with this description: "In this run, adelikat picks up maximum speed upgrades and has fun with perfect reflexes, much like the previous movie. That is certainly something nice to do, because the game scrolls automatically and the player cannot affect the speed. However, the point of this movie is not just to beat this game as fast as possible, but rather to do all kinds of unpredictable and awe-inspiring things rarely seen in any TAS — without losing time. See for yourself.
This is probably one of the best illustrations on how to create art out of a simplistic and otherwise uninteresting game to watch. What is also different about this movie is an extra warp which significantly shortens the game, and the use of a new tool (input macro) as described in the submission text. Bots are occasionally used to generate pseudorandom input while still avoiding death."

TASBot was born on December 22nd, 2013 when I first assembled him. It’s been a wild ride of ups and downs over the last decade but TAS event content I’ve led has raised more than $1.4m USD at various charity events and I aim to keep going. I supported all charity event travel costs with my day job, ultimately spending $20k more than I recouped through Patreon and elsewhere, but it was absolutely worth it. Unfortunately, I was laid off many months ago in a challenging time for the security consulting market and I’ve decided to focus on making new TASBot content instead. My kids (DefeneSam and Wrentendo) and I can’t relocate from the SF bay area and I need to net $6k per month just to survive due to high housing costs; I regret I’ll need to pause donating 10% on to charity for now but I’ll give you plenty of fun content if you can help us at https://Patreon.com/dwangoAC or YouTube Memberships at youtube.com/dwangoAC/join - seriously, thank you!
I'm announcing TASBot HD and TASBot Re: content! Remember Pong inside SMW, Brain Age, or Pokemon Plays Twitch? I couldn't have presented any of those without the help of an awesome community of TAS authors, presenters, and volunteers from TASVideos and elsewhere.
TASBot HD is an exciting project where I'm cleaning up past charity event run videos with full attribution of the TAS authors and presenters that helped make it all happen. The original videos were often posted in lower quality on scattered channels with uneven editing and this is an opportunity to honor everyone who helped out for charity. We're already underway updating the https://TAS.Bot wiki with proper attribution and Wiki editors are welcome.
TASBot Revisited (stylized as TASBot Re:) is an opportunity to dive deeper into how each run was created; livestreams give only one shot to get things right and TASBot Re: is an opportunity to revisit the most amazing content we've made and the people behind it with in-depth explanations around some of the craziest things we've done. Think of TASBot Re: videos as a mix between minidocs and explainer videos with a dose of nostalgia, created during Twitch.tv/dwangoAC livestreams complete with perks like a return of PBN / Paint By Numbers.
What's your favorite live TASBot memory from the last decade of events? Leave a comment! :)

tasvideos.org/2958M - Pokémon Puzzle Challenge, originally released in Japan as Pokemon de Panepon (ポケモンでパネポン), is a video game for the Game Boy Color. It is based on Panel de Pon (known as Tetris Attack in the West), only with characters from the Pokémon franchise. zvsp plays through the hardest difficulty, whilst showing the different Pokémon, in Challenge Mode/VS COM Mode in a brisk 5 minutes and 11.62 seconds.
FasTAS (as in Fast TAS) is a glitch and tricks reel of Tool-Assisted Speedrun highlights with helpful and sometimes snarky quips from TASBot and voiceover commentary from dwangoAC showing the most interesting portions of glitchy runs published on TASVideos.org in less than 60 seconds.

This short is done in the style of toxic masculinity from the prompt "do it in the style of macho man Randy Savage", with predictable results. This is a parody and not intended to reflect any ill will against anything or anyone, including moms who want their kids to eat their vegetables. If anything, it's meant to show how much Princess Power Peach has in store for any who cross her.
https://TASVideos.org/3640M - The concept for this run originated long ago because Princess was the only character not used in the normal run aiming for fastest overall time. (In fact, Princess is the only character not used in the fastest warpless run either.)

If you've seen Triforce% before, this presentation performed at ESA by dwangoAC, Nalle and Savestate is different - watch for a fresh chat experience and hear a new take on what happens through the run with nothing held back or hidden. Everything is revealed openly from behind the curtain development secrets gleaned from director Sauraen to uncovering the hidden meaning of the custom content and lore in the run along with several other things you may have missed during the first GDQ playthrough.
This Triforce Percent OoT ACE Showcase was originally shown under the title Ocarina of Time Beta Showcase during the SGDQ 2022 TAS block after helping raise more than $228k for Doctors Without Borders. Triforce% was directed by Sauraen and performed using an original, unmodified US 1.0 release cartridge of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on a real, original N64 (the Nintendo 64 had a passive RGB mod for a clean video signal that did not affect gameplay in any way). This video contains a reprisal of that run performed at European Speedrunner Assembly (ESA) 2022 presented with open commentary from dwangoAC, Nalle, and Savestate revealing everything fully, describing what was beta content on the cartridge and what was created by the Trifrorce% team. Everything you see in this video was done live in front of an audience using only button presses on controllers, ultimately achieving ACE (Arbitrary Code Execution) using a Use After Free exploit known in the community as Stale Reference Manipulation (SRM).

TASVideos.org/5103M - Nalleland is a homebrew platformer for the NES about a small walking bear named Nalle. She decides to go out for an adventure but finds that the land around her is filled with monsters and hazards. Luckily, she has a special pin at her disposal that can allow her to defeat those monsters and safely traverse these hazards.
For this run, Cephla plays the "Floor is Lava" mode, which makes touching the floor lethal to Nalle. Nonetheless, the floor is safely touched at points anyway and the game is beaten in record time.

TASVideos.org/3640M - The second quest of _The Legend of Zelda_ is what you get by having completed the game once. It is more difficult than the first quest.
In this movie, the authors enter ZELDA as the player's name to start the 2nd quest without having to complete the game first.
This is a 666 frame improvement over the previous movie thanks to better optimization

TASVideos.org/3728M - This movie is a full warpless run-through by HappyLee and Mars608.
It is a 00:00.70 second improvement over the previous movie by MrWint by the time Mario touches the final goal on Stage 8-4. Most of the improvement comes from faster Stage 5-1 involving a Bullet Bill and faster Stage 6-2 involving a vine. For detailed information, you can read the authors' comments.
No poles, blocks, or physics were actually violated during the presentation of this run.

TASVideos.org/1240M - The SNES version of Aladdin (1993) follows the plot of this Disney movie much more closely than its Genesis counterpart.
Unlike in the other movie of this game, Jasmine wasn't happy with just being rescued by Aladdin; she made him spend a little time picking up some jewelry for her on the way. This movie aims to complete the game with all the red gems collected, which takes a little more time, but adds quite a bit to the entertainment value of the run. The core trick of this TAS is to abuse the parachute extensively to move faster than normal walking or jumping.

Due to dwangoAC not being fluent the interview was held by host Gregor Kartsios in English with dwangoAC taking care to speak deliberately and slowly. The result was less energetic but perhaps far more intelligible than normal.
This Triforce Percent OoT ACE Showcase was originally shown under the title Ocarina of Time Beta Showcase during the SGDQ 2022 TAS block after helping raise more than $228k for Doctors Without Borders. Triforce% ACE SHowcase was performed using an original, unmodified US 1.0 release cartridge of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on a real, original N64. Everything was done live in front of an audience using only button presses on controllers, ultimately achieving ACE (Arbitrary Code Execution) using a Use After Free (aka Stale Reference Manipulation) exploit with TASBot and Savestate alongside Sauraen and dwangoAC.
For this Rocket Beans appearance, Sia played on a version that patched 271 bytes to reduce the significant difficulty of the initial ACE but the rest of the adventure was left for Sia to discover. Many new experiences were very different than what was shown in the original showcase due to the more dynamic nature of the exploration.

TASVideos.org/4694M - Super Orb Bros. is a difficulty-oriented ROM hack of Super Mario Bros. 3 that takes the orbs you get from defeating Boom Booms and makes a game revolving around them. While in the vein of ROM hacks like Air, this one is more like a puzzle game where various tricks have to be utilized in a specific manner or else you won't be able to progress. Thankfully, you have an infinite number of lives, but in turn, you get a death counter.
Mizumaririn decides to skip most of the intended gameplay routes through the use of glitches and obtain all 18 orbs for Old Man Grimm (don't ask what he needs them for!) in order to pet the dog in record time.

This video dives into how the game was exploited using material created by IsoFrieze specifically for this presentation which he adapted from his video Retro Game Mechanics Explained - Finally Obtaining the Triforce in Ocarina of Time: Triforce Percent Explained at youtu.be/qBK1sq1BQ2Q
Originally presented at May Contain Hackers (the 2022 MCH hacker camp in the Netherlands) thanks to travel and trip support from Bishop Fox, Blastermak and I (dwangoAC) use the explanations adapted for us by IsoFrieze / RGME to talk through all the details of exactly how the Use After Free exploit was performed and the multiple bootstraps needed to take full control of the game and console, all using an original Nintendo 64 console in front of a live audience in a tent (you can hear a metallic ting sound from the wind in the tent during the talk).
Allan Cecil (dwangoAC) was a Security Consultant with Bishop Fox at the time this video was recorded and is the founder and BDFL of the TASBot online community. He is part of the senior staff for TASVideos.org, a website devoted to using emulators to find glitches and techniques to play video games perfectly. He is a published journal author, patent holder, and presenter with talks at DEF CON, GeekPwn, Thotcon, May Contain Hackers, and other hacker conferences. He uses his combined hacking interests for good at charity events like Games Done Quick to entertain viewers with never-before-seen glitches in games, with events he's led raising more than $1.3m for various charities.

TASVideos.org/3875M - In a normal playthrough, this game is quite long. You must save four family members then progress to the final area to complete the game.

TASVideos.org/4993M - Tower of Hanoi is a puzzle game that dates back to 1883 at the very least when French mathematician Édouard Lucas brought the game to the West. With three rods and a tower of discs on a rod at one end, the goal of the game is to get all of the discs to the rod at the other end while following these rules: 1.) Only one disk may be moved at a time, which then has to be placed on top of another stack or on an empty rod, 2.) No disk may be placed on top of a disk that is smaller than it.
For this run, FractalFusion plays a homebrew port of Tower of Hanoi for the Game Boy and completes all the puzzles it has to offer in record time. In this version of the game, the tower can be moved in its entirety to either section in the foreground.

TASVideos.org/4966M - Yathzee (sic) is one of many ports of the dice game Yahtzee to the Commodore 64. The goal of the game is to score as many points as possible by rolling five dice to make certain combinations. Points are earned depending on the scoring category chosen. A Yahtzee is when all five dice have the same number and is worth 50 points, the most of the categories. Unique to this particular port is the usage of a synthesized voice, which sounds pretty rough due to being on an 8-bit computer.
nymx decides to max out and glitch the score counter by consistently scoring Yahtzees (Yatzee? Yatzee's?) many times in a row. The synthesized voice was kept in to showcase its ability, despite being able to save an additional 43 seconds with it turned off.

https://TASVideos.org/3640M - The concept for this run originated long ago because Princess was the only character not used in the normal run aiming for fastest overall time. (In fact, Princess is the only character not used in the fastest warpless run either.)

Triforce% OoT ACE Showcase was presented by Sauraen, Savestate, and dwangoAC with the help of TASBot under the title Ocarina of Time Beta Showcase during the SGDQ 2022 TAS block after helping raise more than $228k for Doctors Without Borders. Triforce% was performed using an original, unmodified US 1.0 release cartridge of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on a real, original N64 (the Nintendo 64 had a passive RGB mod for a clean video signal that did not affect gameplay in any way). Everything in this run was done live in front of an audience using only button presses on controllers, ultimately achieving ACE (Arbitrary Code Execution) using Stale Reference Manipulation (SRM, the OoT community name for this Use-After-Free exploit).
In this third Behind The Scenes (BTS) video in the series from Games Done Quick's Hotfix show That's Never Happened Before hosted by Kungfufruitcup, Sauraen and dwangoAC show the Triforce% content models in Blender and explain the process of turning that data into something the N64 and Ocarina of Time's game engine could render (all transferred later using only button presses). This shows how the Triforce room was created as well as the entire Here Together scene featuring BotW Link and Zelda speaking.

In this video from Games Done Quick's Hotfix show That's Never Happened Before hosted by Kungfufruitcup, we break down each step of taking over the console starting with the human efforts of Savestate as demonstrated with the fantastic animations created by Retro Game Mechanics Explained (used here with permission). We do a deep dive into what use after free vulnerabilities are and thoroughly demonstrate how we exploited one to gain an initial Arbitrary Code Execution foothold. We then walk through how four successive bootloaders plus a hyperspeed loader combine to allow injecting data directly into the expansion memory pak all while allowing the game to behave normally.

Yes, that's Link and Zelda in a Breath of the Wild nod appearing in Ocarina of Time with cel shading effects rendered directly on the N64 using microcode patches to optimize the framerate and appearance. You can find additional details on how the effect was achieved in the FAQ.

Set in a post-apocalyptic New York, Double Dragon is the story of Billy and Jimmy Lee, twin brothers trained in the fighting style of Sou-Setsu-Ken. Together, they manage a small martial arts training school, teaching their students in self-defense. One day, Billy's girlfriend, Marian, is kidnapped off the street by the "Black Warriors", a savage street gang led by a man named Willy. The Black Warriors demand the Lee brothers disclose their martial arts secrets in exchange for Marian's freedom. The Lee brothers set out on a rescue mission to crush the Black Warriors and save Marian.
Released on many systems, this game was so popular that they even released it for cellular phones and made a board game. Even a Hollywood movie has been made.
Alyosha improves the previous publication by 7.19 seconds, thanks to a completely different experience route in order to get the elbow attack earlier in Mission 4.

This is a TAS of a Celeste mod called the Spring Community Collab.
Celeste is a 2018 platform game designed, directed and written by Maddy Thorson and programmed by Thorson and Noel Berry. It is a fully-fleshed version of the 2016 PICO-8 game of the same name, which was made in four days solely by Thorson and Berry during a game jam. Set on a fictional version of Mount Celeste, it follows a young woman named Madeline who attempts to climb the mountain, and must face her inner demons in her quest to reach the summit.
