Nintendo Entertainment System Gradius Tool-Assisted Speedrun by adelikat, author notes at tasvideos.org/1324S and published on TASVideos at tasvideos.org/711M with this description: "In this run, adelikat picks up maximum speed upgrades and has fun with perfect reflexes, much like the previous movie. That is certainly something nice to do, because the game scrolls automatically and the player cannot affect the speed. However, the point of this movie is not just to beat this game as fast as possible, but rather to do all kinds of unpredictable and awe-inspiring things rarely seen in any TAS — without losing time. See for yourself. This is probably one of the best illustrations on how to create art out of a simplistic and otherwise uninteresting game to watch. What is also different about this movie is an extra warp which significantly shortens the game, and the use of a new tool (input macro) as described in the submission text. Bots are occasionally used to generate pseudorandom input while still avoiding death."

The audio book reading was followed by tests of Windows XP boot times, demonstrating PCEM inside libTAS allowing us to test the impact of mouse movement on the boot speed of Windows XP (spoiler alert, moving the mouse slows down how fast the system boots) as well as reviewing curious behavior found by other TASVideos folks where certain dates cause the timezone and daylight savings time adjustments to add several seconds to the boot time. Finally, we demonstrated how the Minesweeper starting pattern depends on when the application finishes launching rather than when it is initially launched and demonstrated that different background tasks could impact the loading time of Minesweeper.

In addition to https://Patreon.com/dwangoAC I've also launched YouTube Memberships at youtube.com/dwangoAC/join - Leave a comment, what's your favorite TASBot memory? :)
TASBot was born on December 22nd, 2013 when I first assembled him. It’s been a wild ride of ups and downs over the last decade but TAS event content I’ve led has raised more than $1.4m USD at various charity events and I aim to keep going. I supported all charity event travel costs with my day job, ultimately spending $20k more than I recouped through Patreon and elsewhere, but it was absolutely worth it. Unfortunately, I was laid off many months ago in a challenging time for the security consulting market and I’ve decided to focus on making new TASBot content instead. My kids (DefeneSam and Wrentendo) and I can’t relocate from the SF bay area and I need to net $6k per month just to survive due to high housing costs; I regret I’ll need to pause donating 10% on to charity for now but I’ll give you plenty of fun content if you can help us at https://Patreon.com/dwangoAC or YouTube Memberships at youtube.com/dwangoAC/join - seriously, thank you!
I'm announcing TASBot HD and TASBot Re: content! Remember Pong inside SMW, Brain Age, or Pokemon Plays Twitch? I couldn't have presented any of those without the help of an awesome community of TAS authors, presenters, and volunteers from TASVideos and elsewhere.
TASBot HD is an exciting project where I'm cleaning up past charity event run videos with full attribution of the TAS authors and presenters that helped make it all happen. The original videos were often posted in lower quality on scattered channels with uneven editing and this is an opportunity to honor everyone who helped out for charity. We're already underway updating the https://TAS.Bot wiki with proper attribution and Wiki editors are welcome.
TASBot Revisited (stylized as TASBot Re:) is an opportunity to dive deeper into how each run was created; livestreams give only one shot to get things right and TASBot Re: is an opportunity to revisit the most amazing content we've made and the people behind it with in-depth explanations around some of the craziest things we've done. Think of TASBot Re: videos as a mix between minidocs and explainer videos with a dose of nostalgia, created during Twitch.tv/dwangoAC livestreams complete with perks like a return of PBN / Paint By Numbers.
What's your favorite live TASBot memory from the last decade of events? Leave a comment! :)

This short is done in the style of toxic masculinity from the prompt "do it in the style of macho man Randy Savage", with predictable results. This is a parody and not intended to reflect any ill will against anything or anyone, including moms who want their kids to eat their vegetables. If anything, it's meant to show how much Princess Power Peach has in store for any who cross her.
https://TASVideos.org/3640M - The concept for this run originated long ago because Princess was the only character not used in the normal run aiming for fastest overall time. (In fact, Princess is the only character not used in the fastest warpless run either.)

Everything is revealed openly from behind the curtain development secrets gleaned from director Sauraen to uncovering the hidden meaning of the custom content and lore in the run along with several other things you may have missed during the first GDQ playthrough.
This Triforce Percent OoT ACE Showcase was originally shown under the title Ocarina of Time Beta Showcase during the SGDQ 2022 TAS block after helping raise more than $228k for Doctors Without Borders. Triforce% was directed by Sauraen and performed using an original, unmodified US 1.0 release cartridge of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on a real, original N64 (the Nintendo 64 had a passive RGB mod for a clean video signal that did not affect gameplay in any way). This video contains a reprisal of that run performed at European Speedrunner Assembly (ESA) 2022 presented with open commentary from dwangoAC, Nalle, and Savestate revealing everything fully, describing what was beta content on the cartridge and what was created by the Trifrorce% team. Everything you see in this video was done live in front of an audience using only button presses on controllers, ultimately achieving ACE (Arbitrary Code Execution) using a Use After Free exploit known in the community as Stale Reference Manipulation (SRM).

Unlike in the other movie of this game, Jasmine wasn't happy with just being rescued by Aladdin; she made him spend a little time picking up some jewelry for her on the way. This movie aims to complete the game with all the red gems collected, which takes a little more time, but adds quite a bit to the entertainment value of the run. TASVideos.org/4966M - Yathzee (sic) is one of many ports of the dice game Yahtzee to the Commodore 64. The goal of the game is to score as many points as possible by rolling five dice to make certain combinations. Points are earned depending on the scoring category chosen. A Yahtzee is when all five dice have the same number and is worth 50 points, the most of the categories. Unique to this particular port is the usage of a synthesized voice, which sounds pretty rough due to being on an 8-bit computer.
nymx decides to max out and glitch the score counter by consistently scoring Yahtzees (Yatzee? Yatzee's?) many times in a row. The synthesized voice was kept in to showcase its ability, despite being able to save an additional 43 seconds with it turned off.

Compared to the original, it notably features updated models and textures and updated control schemes to make use of the 3DS's capabilities. The story remains identical to that of the original.

Triforce% OoT ACE Showcase was presented by Sauraen, Savestate, and dwangoAC with the help of TASBot under the title Ocarina of Time Beta Showcase during the SGDQ 2022 TAS block after helping raise more than $228k for Doctors Without Borders. Triforce% was performed using an original, unmodified US 1.0 release cartridge of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on a real, original N64 (the Nintendo 64 had a passive RGB mod for a clean video signal that did not affect gameplay in any way). Everything in this run was done live in front of an audience using only button presses on controllers, ultimately achieving ACE (Arbitrary Code Execution) using Stale Reference Manipulation (SRM, the OoT community name for this Use-After-Free exploit).
In this third Behind The Scenes (BTS) video in the series from Games Done Quick's Hotfix show That's Never Happened Before hosted by Kungfufruitcup, Sauraen and dwangoAC show the Triforce% content models in Blender and explain the process of turning that data into something the N64 and Ocarina of Time's game engine could render (all transferred later using only button presses). This shows how the Triforce room was created as well as the entire Here Together scene featuring BotW Link and Zelda speaking.

In this video from Games Done Quick's Hotfix show That's Never Happened Before hosted by Kungfufruitcup, we break down each step of taking over the console starting with the human efforts of Savestate as demonstrated with the fantastic animations created by Retro Game Mechanics Explained (used here with permission). We do a deep dive into what use after free vulnerabilities are and thoroughly demonstrate how we exploited one to gain an initial Arbitrary Code Execution foothold. We then walk through how four successive bootloaders plus a hyperspeed loader combine to allow injecting data directly into the expansion memory pak all while allowing the game to behave normally.

Set in a post-apocalyptic New York, Double Dragon is the story of Billy and Jimmy Lee, twin brothers trained in the fighting style of Sou-Setsu-Ken. Together, they manage a small martial arts training school, teaching their students in self-defense. One day, Billy's girlfriend, Marian, is kidnapped off the street by the "Black Warriors", a savage street gang led by a man named Willy. The Black Warriors demand the Lee brothers disclose their martial arts secrets in exchange for Marian's freedom. The Lee brothers set out on a rescue mission to crush the Black Warriors and save Marian. Released on many systems, this game was so popular that they even released it for cellular phones and made a board game. Even a Hollywood movie has been made.
