How Tunic Goes Beyond Nostalgia VZedshows 2022-08-20 | Tunic is the latest game to make my brain go "oh... huh... that's really cool" and so naturally I started writing about it. Eventually the game became a very interesting examination of not just how nostalgic appeal works but how it CAN work, where it can go and what it accomplishes along the way. Tunic is possibly one of the most powerful singular gaming experiences I've had even if the game itself is a pretty light 15 hour adventure in of itself. Where the Worlds of Cyan Take Us (Myst, Riven and Firmament) VZedshows 2023-09-16 | Cyan Worlds is one of my all time favourite game devs. I have talked about their games for years now and I am always on board for when they have a new title to offer the world. 2023 saw the release of Firmament, a game that is something of a mixed bag but leave it to Cyan to leave me with more on my mind than when I hit "New Game". Inscryption and The Way Games Change VZedshows 2022-05-01 | Just like I promised in the 5 Favourite Games video, here it is, my long time coming look at Inscryption, a game that so thoroughly infested my brain that I couldn't give up on it, even when making this video almost did me in entirely. Exploring Resident Evil After Village: A Brief Retrospective VZedshows 2021-11-21 | 2021 has brought the release of a new Resident Evil game. An Unexpected Connection with Last Day of June VZedshows 2021-08-15 | While playing Last Day of June, a journey through a character's grief over the loss of a loved one, I found myself lamenting my inability to connect with the game on the level it was working on. GoldenEye 007 - VZedshows VZedshows 2017-03-04 | GoldenEye 007 was the defacto multiplayer game from my childhood, and one of the most remembered Rareware titles. It single handedly mastered multiplayer on the Nintendo 64 and, in my opinion, outshone Mario Kart 64. It has a great soundtrack and fun missions, but does it hold up today? INSIDE - VZedshows VZedshows 2016-10-31 | INSIDE is Playdead games' follow up to their 2010 smash hit LIMBO. A Mechanical sequel of sorts, INSIDE explores new themes and ideas surrounding society, duty, and responsibility in the face of a changing world. It's a disturbing game to say the least, but i feel as though the game managed to place the weight of it's progression back on me, the player. Fran Bow - VZedshows VZedshows 2016-10-08 | Fran Bow is an indie Point and Click adventure game from Killmonday Games. Despite it's relaxed gameplay style there is no denying this game's status as a raw and unappologetic horror game. A Quick Thing on Blues and Bullets - VZedshows VZedshows 2016-07-17 | Blues and Bullets, by A Crowd of Monsters is a modern point and click (ish) adventure game in the same vein as Telltale, or Quantic Dream. Set in post-prohibition America, Elliot Ness is hired by his old nemesis, Al Capone, to find his missing grand-daughter. This Gangster style drama takes a turn for the weird as more facets of the case are uncovered. It's a great premise, and the first chapter, reviewed in video, certainly tells us as much. Top 20 Donkey Kong Country Levels Part 1: 20-11 - VZedshows (feat. snomaNgaming) VZedshows 2016-05-19 | It is hard for me to stay away from the Donkey Kong Country series. Rareware hit on some real gems back in the SNES days and i'm more than happy that Nintendo preserves these games on the Wii and Wii U virtual console. Resident Evil: The Perfect Scare - Magic Moments - VZedshows VZedshows 2016-04-12 | The long running Resident Evil series (Biohazard in Japan) is one of Capcom's classic franchises. Resident Evil Remake, originally out on the Gamecube, is one of my all time favourite games. It's the first survival horror game i ever played and by golly if it wasn't the perfect primer for the rest of the genre. The game is filled with awesome moments and memories, but how many of them qualify as magical? Lisa Trevor is an enemy the player will come across about halfway through the game, and is, in my mind, a perfect example of how to build a classic scary moment in a video game. On this first installment of Magic Moments we take a look at Lisa Trevor's introduction step by step. The Beginners Guide (spoilers) - VZedshows VZedshows 2015-12-29 | Spoiler Free video: youtu.be/e-8pB2CS98gDavey Wreden's The Beginner's Guide is the spiritual successor, in some ways, to The Stanley Parable, which Wreden is also known for. Said to be a commentary on Game Design, as well as a deeply affecting story about the creative process, this game came highly recommended from my peers and associates, and did not disappoint. Top 5 Legend of Zelda Dungeons - VZedshows VZedshows 2015-11-29 | I have always loved The Legend of Zelda series. The Horror in Darkest Dungeon - VZedshows VZedshows 2015-11-05 | Darkest Dungeon has a whole lot of great stuff going on in one great game. Illusion of Gaia - For Better or Worse - VZedshows VZedshows 2015-08-29 | Illusion of Gaia (Illusion of Time in PAL regions) goes as far back for me as being one of the first video games i ever played. Hotline Miami - I Like to Video Games - VZedshows VZedshows 2015-05-14 | Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is now on virtual store shelves, the follow up to Dennaton Games' 2012 title, Hotline Miami. Much anticipation stood in front of it, but the lead up to the game's release got me reflecting on my experience with the first game. Now a staple of Devolver Digital's catalogue, Hotline Miami is certainly not a game that is easily over looked or forgotten, with it's hyper-violent gameplay and thought provoking narrative. After playing it's sequel, i started to reflect on how different the two games were. Donkey Kong 64 - For Better or Worse - VZedshows VZedshows 2015-04-06 | FebuRAREy finally comes to close with Donkey Kong 64. One of the best Rareware titles on the Nintendo 64. Adventure Platforming with a priceless score by the legendary Grant Kirkhope. Donkey Kong is one of my favourite series of video games of all time. Going as far back as the Donkey Kong Country series and remaining so to this day, with the new revival of DKC games from Retro Studios.
