Minecraft CTM Speedrun • Totality (All Wools) • 6:52.80 (cheated, read desc) qwuiblington 2021-08-10 | this run used an macro for the first tick perfect white wool grab, & so isnt on the leaderboards. wr is 7:46 by revenant horror (youtu.be/_WcRLpv39dM). i had this video unlisted for some time, but i'm putting it back up .. because its actually the only existing showcase of the fastest route of this map lol- - -map download: curseforge.com/minecraft/worlds/totalityminecraft version 1.14.4map version 5-1-19run on august 8th 2021- - -like the any% run, i enable speedrun mode, grab the holoblock, & staircase to the end of magenta, sneaking through a 1.5 block gap to skip the entire dungeon & having to flick a lever to get in. in the fleecy box is a gold helmet that teleports me to "virtual reality" when i put it on. it normally gets cleared from my inventory when i leave, but i can smuggle it out by dropping it. i also break an extra glass block to make room for later, & grab some snowball grenadesi temporarily disable speedrun mode to get into the holoblock tutorial. at the end of this is a self refilling white wool box meant to serve as an example objective. picking up a white wool will instantly clear it, & return me to the centre hub, where i'm expected to have started the tutorial. i time a tick perfect input to get 4 white wool into my crafting window before it clears, then put on the helmet to teleport into vr, drop 2 white wool there, take it off to teleport me to the exit, & drop another 2 therei then go back to vr & staircase over to grab the magenta wool. after picking it up, i'd normally be forced to wait 12 seconds, then run through a 14 second flashback sequence, but this can be interrupted. i take off the helmet, & spam the drop key as i pick up the 2 white wool so only 1 disappears. it teleports me back to the hub as though i've just completed the tutorial, & because i'm at the hub, the wool is turned in & the flashback sequence cancelled. i do have to spend an extra 10 seconds walking to the entrance of orange (compared to death reset strat), but the flashback skip makes it worth it, plus every other use of white wool actually decreases travel timei go to orange first because it has the water bucket, which can be used to save time later. to save time, i place blocks on the very specific areas of the lava that are 1 deep, including a literal 1x1 pillar where i grab the water bucket. most of it is 3 deep, which is why i place water to turn it into obsidian instead of just running across. i take a lot more damage than i expect & barely avoid getting hit by a blaze, then decide to block myself with glass. in city hall, i have to quickly jump in the centre to lure the skeletons off their ledges, then pillar up to grab orange. i take off the helmet to teleport to the vr exit, & spam drop on the second pair of white wool, return to the hub, cancelling the flashback & skipping a long backtracking sequenceat this point i can do the last 2 wools in either order, but i do yellow first because i'm used to it from older routes. i leave my water so i can more quickly clear the fountain. i would have done a grenade jump here, but my health was too low, so i just staircase up to the keycard. i then use a grenade on myself to death reset back to the entrance, saving about 3 seconds. i grab the last snowball grenades i need, then use the water bucket to swim a shortcut through the 1 high gap in the gravel, saving about 10 seconds. i grab the yellow wool & put the helmet back on, picking up another white wooli go to lime wool. normally you're meant to circle around to the back entrance, but i can once again use the water bucket to swim into a 1 block high area for a shortcut. i descend into the caves & get hit by a complete asshole spider, losing me about a second. this throws me off a bit & i make several more small mistakes on my way down. after going down to the factory, i do a grenade jump to skip a few seconds of bridging. then i die to a blaze, losing about 10 seconds. i grab the last wool, put the helmet back on, & wait a full 2 seconds for the white wool to be picked up because my render distance was too low for the pickup timer to count downthe boss fight starts immediately & i start hitting it with grenades, while moving to the second corner to pre-place water. hitting optimal grenades is hard because direct hits deal 0 damage. the second phase of the fight has the boss teleport to 4 corners at certain health thresholds, but grenades do enough damage to skip over a corner entirely. i try to do exactly enough damage to skip over the first corner, but am just barely short & have to lob a grenade to 1st. it does minimal damage because of the wall, but still enough to go to 2nd. it then takes damage to water because it's a robot. i go to the third corner, punch it 3 times, then grenade it so it dies instantly, skipping the 4th corner- - Minecraft CTM Speedrun • Totality (Any%) • 1:53.95 (cheated, read desc) qwuiblington 2021-08-06 | this run used input macros to execute the tick perfect white wool grab, & so isnt on the leaderboards. this was beaten legitimately by me with 1:38 (youtu.be/qd4W0yE3ZXo). i had this video unlisted for some time, but i'm putting it back up as a historical run- - -totality is a short adventure mode ctm map made by cold fusion. the objective is *normally* to fight through 4 distinct dungeons to collect a wool from each, then return back to the hub to fight the final boss. i don't do thismap download: curseforge.com/minecraft/worlds/totalityminecraft version 1.14.4map version 5-1-19run on july 31st 2021- - -since i've made this public i should explain the routebefore starting, i turn on speedrun mode. this activates the timer & skips a few dialogue segments. it also gives me a clickable chat message to turn off speedrun mode at any time, which is used in the exploit to skip to the final boss. at the start of the map, i'm railroaded by barrier blocks into grabbing the infinite holoblock at the hub. there's normally a tutorial segment for the holoblock here, but it's skipped by having speedrun mode onimmediately afterwards, i go to collect 2 coins (sunflowers) for the skip, & 6 snowball grenades, just enough to quick kill the boss. interestingly, the fastest route for this involves skipping to the final area of magenta by abusing 1.14's lower sneaking height, which didn't exist when the map was originally made, but was never patched in later updatesi then use the clickable chat message from before to disable speedrun mode. this is only intended to be done before the map starts, but it still works. because the condition for activating the tutorial is just [has holoblock], [hasn't done tutorial], & [speedrun mode off], this remotely warps me to the tutorial intended to be activated when first grabbing the holoblock. i then immediately reenable speedrun mode to skip dialogue before the boss. this whole maneuver surprisingly doesn't have any effect on the timeri craft the coins (sunflowers) into yellow dye. at the end of the tutorial is a white "example" wool, which normally immediately clears from your inventory & teleports you back to the hub. this chest also refills itself for some reason, so i grab it until there's 5, before dropping them on the ground. when picked up, there is a 1 tick window to place them into my crafting window before they disappear. i use a metronome (the clicking sound in the background) to help time this. i place 1 back into my inventory, to teleport to the hub as intended, then craft the remaining 4 into yellow wool, an actual objective, one by one. because i'm at the hub, these are turned in instantlythis actually counts as completing every objective. it's kind of weird that this works, since there are magenta, lime, orange, & yellow wools. i originally thought this would only skip the one wool that's actually yellow. however, because there's normally only one of each wool, the map just clears the one you have & adds 1 to the objective count. it never checks for duplicates, so i can finish the map with 4 yellow wools. also, there are normally flashback sequences that happen when you first pick up a wool, which are skipped here by immediately turning them inthe boss fight is harder than it looks. dealing maximum damage with each grenade is difficult, because i have to aim as close to it as possible, but a direct hit actually does 0 damage. during the second phase of the fight, it teleports to 4 different corners at certain health thresholds, which adds lots of running time. however, max damage grenades deal enough damage to skip over a corner entirely. i have to do a very specific amount of damage in the first phase to skip the 1st corner, punch it on the 2nd corner, run to the 3rd corner & get it to the exact amount of health needed for the last grenade to instantly kill it & skip the 4th cornerone side effect of the skip is that the rocket i'm supposed to enter to end the map isn't there. it normally gets built up when you grab each wool, but the wool never existed my inventory long enough. so instead, i can just run directly into the ending trigger. this skips about a second of opening the door & climbing into the rocket, which is a nice cherry on top of this glitchy mess- - -there is also of course the more popular speedrun category for collecting the 4 wools as intended, which has several interesting tricks & skips of its own. i also have the world record for this with a time of 7:45, which you can find here: youtu.be/EocMxMz2f94. this one isn't public because it's a pretty bad run with over 30 seconds of mistakes. despite this, i don't really have any motivation to improve itfull world record history playlist: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZwSq1Dmbtfytig5SAGe_aH-GFg1cfu4Amusic: c418 - intro (youtu.be/y7sm01H0w9Y)
