since i've made this public i should explain the route

before starting, i turn on speedrun mode. this activates the timer & skips a few dialogue segments. it also gives me a clickable chat message to turn off speedrun mode at any time, which is used in the exploit to skip to the final boss. at the start of the map, i'm railroaded by barrier blocks into grabbing the infinite holoblock at the hub. there's normally a tutorial segment for the holoblock here, but it's skipped by having speedrun mode on

immediately afterwards, i go to collect 2 coins (sunflowers) for the skip, & 6 snowball grenades, just enough to quick kill the boss. interestingly, the fastest route for this involves skipping to the final area of magenta by abusing 1.14's lower sneaking height, which didn't exist when the map was originally made, but was never patched in later updates

i then use the clickable chat message from before to disable speedrun mode. this is only intended to be done before the map starts, but it still works. because the condition for activating the tutorial is just [has holoblock], [hasn't done tutorial], & [speedrun mode off], this remotely warps me to the tutorial intended to be activated when first grabbing the holoblock. i then immediately reenable speedrun mode to skip dialogue before the boss. this whole maneuver surprisingly doesn't have any effect on the timer

i craft the coins (sunflowers) into yellow dye. at the end of the tutorial is a white "example" wool, which normally immediately clears from your inventory & teleports you back to the hub. this chest also refills itself for some reason, so i grab it until there's 5, before dropping them on the ground. when picked up, there is a 1 tick window to place them into my crafting window before they disappear. i use a metronome (the clicking sound in the background) to help time this. i place 1 back into my inventory, to teleport to the hub as intended, then craft the remaining 4 into yellow wool, an actual objective, one by one. because i'm at the hub, these are turned in instantly

this actually counts as completing every objective. it's kind of weird that this works, since there are magenta, lime, orange, & yellow wools. i originally thought this would only skip the one wool that's actually yellow. however, because there's normally only one of each wool, the map just clears the one you have & adds 1 to the objective count. it never checks for duplicates, so i can finish the map with 4 yellow wools. also, there are normally flashback sequences that happen when you first pick up a wool, which are skipped here by immediately turning them in

the boss fight is harder than it looks. dealing maximum damage with each grenade is difficult, because i have to aim as close to it as possible, but a direct hit actually does 0 damage. during the second phase of the fight, it teleports to 4 different corners at certain health thresholds, which adds lots of running time. however, max damage grenades deal enough damage to skip over a corner entirely. i have to do a very specific amount of damage in the first phase to skip the 1st corner, punch it on the 2nd corner, run to the 3rd corner & get it to the exact amount of health needed for the last grenade to instantly kill it & skip the 4th corner

one side effect of the skip is that the rocket i'm supposed to enter to end the map isn't there. it normally gets built up when you grab each wool, but the wool never existed my inventory long enough. so instead, i can just run directly into the ending trigger. this skips about a second of opening the door & climbing into the rocket, which is a nice cherry on top of this glitchy mess

the big improvement over the last wr is just the strategy to staircase up to green instead of pillaring from the platforms under. i had this idea when the wr was still 1:19, thought it was pretty obvious but nobody's implemented it until now. we could say yonasumi's bow boost pearl strat was ultimately what made sub 1 possible, no idea if i would have thought of that. thanks also to revenant horror for some early movement optimizations (youtube.com/watch?v=qemblmBPW5A)

downright bothered this run had so many visible mistakes, but the nature of this map is that cleaning those up doesn't really guarantee a better time. it mostly comes down to the pearl throws, which are both very random (pearl throw rng & arrow knockback rng), & very precise (throw angle, exact tick timing relative to bein hit, & balancing out the timing w/ bein able to grab red). also had a 57.5 pace run that miraculously landed right next to the monument but i didn't grab red in time

if you want to beat this time & really hate yourself, there's a double punch boost you can do at the start that saves about 2 seconds (youtube.com/watch?v=gZM0T5M4vhg&t=10s ). if you do this, you'll also have heal with the potions, which are luckily stacked so you can do eat skip techniques on them, and/or grab the totem from the pearl chest. the attempt in that clip is slightly flawed because landing on that island on the right side is required to not spawn in the ghasts

fun pure movement map. unlike the other bit maps there aren't any extremely difficult tricks, & it just comes down to pure execution throughout. there's a significant amount of time to save still from just playing better. my sum of best is 2:36.8 (youtu.be/mVZmGqI_YpU), over 20 seconds faster

the only annoyance is at the very end, where the black wool preserve only seems to work about a third of the time, which killed some runs that were a few seconds faster pace. the way it works is that even though dying is supposed to delete all your wool, you can keep one through death if you throw it on the ground right as you respawn

when i first played this i was utterly defeated by the tick perfect input & resorted to using a macro, which is the main reason i came back to beat it legitmately over a year later

about 10 seconds of improvement came from a better route for grabbing the grenades + credits before going back to the tutorial, but the rest came from just playing better

i'll also redo the all dungeons / no wool skip category. maybe not next though

much larger time cut than i was expecting i thought i would get a 4:15 best case. the sequence to get green in time at the end is much more difficult than it looks, i probably spent twice as much time practicing just that 20 second segment as i did on the entirety of my attempts. didn't think it was viable at first & it took me hours to hit it even once

i played this while my computer's ability to connect to the internet was broken so i was just steve but i didn't like being steve so i replaced steve with a random png of a kaleidoscope pattern i had on my computer

fun fact; grabbing a wooden pickaxe from the chest & digging upwards is only slightly slower than punching out wood for the bed warp, with the main downside being no hunger reset from dying

fun fact 2; this map would be almost a minute faster if spawn wasn't in spawn chunks, as that'd make it possible to do an instant signal deload on the starting button with a redstone torch

fun fact 3; i found that the intersection 5 tp command block next to the monument tp goes to the same place as the green tp by complete accident when i misplaced a pressure plate

all of the recent speedrun activity on this map has been on the out of bounds elytra category. i get why, but i felt there was a lot of untapped potential for playing the map legitimately

most of the improvement comes from going to the entrance of grey early, to get a punch bow. the slightly worse travel distance is easily made up for by the increased speed from punch boosting. i also go through more of the dungeons instead of digging to them, which is not only faster, but also gives access to more ender pearls to use elsewhere; & pearl deload more strategically to reduce travel time. there is also a bed warp which is nice

the tradeoff of playing on an older version with punch boosting is having to go much further to deload. punch boosting was mostly patched in 1.11, so i believe the actual optimal version for this map is 1.9 or 1.10, for being able to jump throw pearls (making it viable to deload with 1 pearl by punch boosting away), & also sometimes just deload with 2 chunks in certain conditions for reasons i dont understand

this run is not very good in my opinion. it is probably improvable by about 2 minutes. however my goal was sub 30, & i don't have much interest in continuing beyond that

i like this route a lot for how unintuitive it is. i take a detour to an objective, dont grab it, & only use an item in the wool box to speed up getting a *different* objective, then come back for it afterwards, inexplicably saving ~50 seconds overall. also a rare instance of intentional death without keepinv, or ender chests, or an item elevator

i tried a bed warp route first obviously. it's not very good, partially because the tower isn't straight so you can only go up 4 of the 6 floors at once. then you end up in a spot where you have to punch through a quartz slab, then you need to dip down into the last room (filled with enemys!!) a bit to grab blocks to pillar up into the wool. it is slower & you will die

btw in 1.17+ exiting a gui with items on your cursor puts them in your inventory, so you can fast loot by just double clicking & closing the chest. should be common knowledge i feel

this is not the longest map grind i have ever done, but it was certainly the most miserable. compared to other maps i've done, this was much longer & much more rng intensive. while this run has more mistakes than i'd normally consider acceptable, the vast majority of the time save still on the table comes from simply getting better blaze drops. this map can be pushed under 18 (maybe 17) minutes, & most of that is just grinding for a better fort split

also inbounds sub 30 in 1.7 is possible & i will do that someday

decently solid run to beat the previous wr holder by 6 minutes. this map is very rng intensive, & i take a lot of risks with difficult elytra movement on top of that. even though i ran this in easy, completing a run of this route is probably overall harder than the previous route on hard difficulty

in this run i get essentially perfect rng, & only a handful of minor execution mistakes (namely bonking the monument fountain & excruciatingly slow mineral block crafting). i kind of wish i got this time with it the other way around, since it'd look nicer, but y'know

more rng strats can be added, like the looting the random chest for a pick & axe, or killing an early enderman. without being close to any major milestone, & without any threat of competition from ty retiring, i have no motivation to grind this lower

sub 3 is possible, but very difficult. my best pace was a 3:04 that failed the last portal build (attempt 1500 or so). my sum of best is something like a 3:01. getting sub 3 is currently outside of my ability, but i think it's also outside of speedycube's ability, so it's ok

the obvious path to sub 3 is jitter click portal builds, but another option is switching back to 1.12.0, grabbing a sword, & rolling a random enderman spawn in the nether to do pearl translocation to skip 8 seconds of portal wait time. not sure which would be more painful

after the last run, i started investigating ways of speeding up the 16 second levitation up to the ending area. one of my ideas was the bed warp glitch, in which a solid entity blocking a respawn point will cause it to relocate the player upwards through an arbitrary number of blocks. this actually ended up being slightly faster on its own, despite the setup time

i then found that the map didn't actually check objective completion for the victory screen, skipping the need to place any wool. i then found that without the need to grab the wool shulker, it was significantly faster to skip the dev room entirely & just go straight to the monument. i then spent hours grinding a sub 1 before realizing it'd be like 5 seconds faster to just grab the bed already at the monument instead of punching wool to craft one, & that's the result you see here

qwuiblington 2021-08-30 | divinity's end is a massive collaborative complete the monument map created by over 20 authors, & the third entry to the pantheon series. the objective is to collect 13 music discs ("lord essences") from various areas across the map, & place them in the monument. the map adds many custom mechanics & items through data packs, which happen to be very broken, & allow me to beat the map very quickly relative to its size

note that the map doesn't have any rules, as it attempts to instead enforce everything with datapacks. it doesn't do a great job at this, which is why i can enter the nether & whatnot. fun fact, i found this in my casual playthrough, & spent two hours in the nether leading striders back to the overworld to make a strider ranch, while everyone else suffered through finding hidden buttons in area 7. great times i think

this is a segmented speedrun, meaning i would record the run in parts, & occasionally quit out to make a save point to retry from. you can see the segment counter tick up in the top right whenever this happens. in addition, there are some parts that are cut or sped up within a segment, so it's not really a "segmented world record" or anything like that. i decided to do this segmented because i just came off of grinding a very rng intense map & didn't feel like commiting to that sort of thing again, but it still ended up being a lot of work

i originally completed this run on august 4th, before realizing a continuity error in obsidian (at 17:23) meant i made more portals than should be possible. i had to redo the last few segments of area 3 without making a portal there, which made me lose motivation for nearly a month. you can see the original invalid run here: youtu.be/2JFdjJZ6qT0?t=1298

while at the time of starting the run, this route of using teleporters to duplicate chests was the fastest known method, several much faster duplication exploits have been found, namely:
-having a bonus objective in the off hand, & placing any glazed terracotta to activate the bonus monument (bonus chests are cloned similar to teleporters)
-having an item in the off hand, holding a 2 handed item, dropping it, then pressing the switch hand key
-having an item in the main hand, using an infinity item in the off hand, & simultaneously dropping the main hand item

using any of these would save several minutes over this run, as nether travel could be started immediately after reaching the monument. when these were discovered, i was already about 8 minutes into the run, so i didn't want to restart. i also felt being forced to collect teleporters first made for a more interesting route

like the any% run, i enable speedrun mode, grab the holoblock, & staircase to the end of magenta, sneaking through a 1.5 block gap to skip the entire dungeon & having to flick a lever to get in. in the fleecy box is a gold helmet that teleports me to "virtual reality" when i put it on. it normally gets cleared from my inventory when i leave, but i can smuggle it out by dropping it. i also break an extra glass block to make room for later, & grab some snowball grenades

i temporarily disable speedrun mode to get into the holoblock tutorial. at the end of this is a self refilling white wool box meant to serve as an example objective. picking up a white wool will instantly clear it, & return me to the centre hub, where i'm expected to have started the tutorial. i time a tick perfect input to get 4 white wool into my crafting window before it clears, then put on the helmet to teleport into vr, drop 2 white wool there, take it off to teleport me to the exit, & drop another 2 there

i then go back to vr & staircase over to grab the magenta wool. after picking it up, i'd normally be forced to wait 12 seconds, then run through a 14 second flashback sequence, but this can be interrupted. i take off the helmet, & spam the drop key as i pick up the 2 white wool so only 1 disappears. it teleports me back to the hub as though i've just completed the tutorial, & because i'm at the hub, the wool is turned in & the flashback sequence cancelled. i do have to spend an extra 10 seconds walking to the entrance of orange (compared to death reset strat), but the flashback skip makes it worth it, plus every other use of white wool actually decreases travel time

i go to orange first because it has the water bucket, which can be used to save time later. to save time, i place blocks on the very specific areas of the lava that are 1 deep, including a literal 1x1 pillar where i grab the water bucket. most of it is 3 deep, which is why i place water to turn it into obsidian instead of just running across. i take a lot more damage than i expect & barely avoid getting hit by a blaze, then decide to block myself with glass. in city hall, i have to quickly jump in the centre to lure the skeletons off their ledges, then pillar up to grab orange. i take off the helmet to teleport to the vr exit, & spam drop on the second pair of white wool, return to the hub, cancelling the flashback & skipping a long backtracking sequence

at this point i can do the last 2 wools in either order, but i do yellow first because i'm used to it from older routes. i leave my water so i can more quickly clear the fountain. i would have done a grenade jump here, but my health was too low, so i just staircase up to the keycard. i then use a grenade on myself to death reset back to the entrance, saving about 3 seconds. i grab the last snowball grenades i need, then use the water bucket to swim a shortcut through the 1 high gap in the gravel, saving about 10 seconds. i grab the yellow wool & put the helmet back on, picking up another white wool

i go to lime wool. normally you're meant to circle around to the back entrance, but i can once again use the water bucket to swim into a 1 block high area for a shortcut. i descend into the caves & get hit by a complete asshole spider, losing me about a second. this throws me off a bit & i make several more small mistakes on my way down. after going down to the factory, i do a grenade jump to skip a few seconds of bridging. then i die to a blaze, losing about 10 seconds. i grab the last wool, put the helmet back on, & wait a full 2 seconds for the white wool to be picked up because my render distance was too low for the pickup timer to count down

the boss fight starts immediately & i start hitting it with grenades, while moving to the second corner to pre-place water. hitting optimal grenades is hard because direct hits deal 0 damage. the second phase of the fight has the boss teleport to 4 corners at certain health thresholds, but grenades do enough damage to skip over a corner entirely. i try to do exactly enough damage to skip over the first corner, but am just barely short & have to lob a grenade to 1st. it does minimal damage because of the wall, but still enough to go to 2nd. it then takes damage to water because it's a robot. i go to the third corner, punch it 3 times, then grenade it so it dies instantly, skipping the 4th corner
