i'm expanding the 'heart of the forest' universe a bit (you've already met rianne and aevian), by including other elven kingdoms. so, meet the elves of high elysia, oakhollow and blackreach...

Is this the biggest, most ambitious multi-crossover I've ever attempted? Probably!

Merry Christmas to the wonderful, warm, talented @strangeautumn - I value your friendship so much. I love how creative your work is. I hope you like your gift - I tried to combine your favourite characters, fandoms and themes into one epic story of found family, heists and adventure.

I've given the characters original names as well for an extra layer of fun! So you can see this as an oc edit if you want ;) All the names are Welsh too :)

↣ story

Long ago, a kind, unwitting man named Caradoc (Brom) lost a wager to a sorceress called Rhiannon (Lanfear). He had to give up his only daughter, Anwyn (Snow), to the sorceress, though it broke his heart. Since then, he's done everything he can to bring her home. As he ages, Caradoc gives it one last shot, bringing together a team of talented misfits to break Anwyn out of her castle prison. But Anwyn, now grown, is not just any girl - she's the heir to a vast queendom. A queendom that Rhiannon has claimed for her own.

The team includes the Anwyn's brother Aneurin (Ross), best friend Gwyn (Nynaeve), a thief called Huw (Jesper), a sorcerer named Llyr (Merlin), a healer called Mair (Pym), a pirate called Emyr (Davos), a master planner called Nesryn (Max), Pryderi (Roland) who is brilliant at the art of disguise, and Tomos (Sam) the cook.

Somehow, the team manage to break into the castle. But the girl is also breaking out! She's reunited with her brother and friends on the beach. With the Rhiannon still after her, Anwyn wants to run. But she has a queendom to claim. Should she fight, or flee? Her new friends are behind her.

Her ageing father Caradoc dies, happy that he saw his daughter one last time. It spurs Anwyn on to claim back her queendom from the sorceress, and storms the castle with her new friends. In the final showdown between Anwyn and Rhiannon, Rhiannon is killed. Victory is claimed, and Anwyn takes her rightful place on the throne.

I haven't edited properly in AGES, but I made a much shorter version of this for a collab part, and thought there might be more to the idea. Turns out there was - yey!

The story is pretty straightforward -

For as long as she can remember, it's just been Celebrían and her mother Galadriel, out on the open road, never staying in one place too long. But Celebrían begins to ask questions. Why has she never met her father?

Then by chance she meets Halbrand, and senses there's some unfinished business between him and her mother. She can also see there's something different about hm and is determined to find out what, even if it means leaving Galadriel and following Halbrand.

Then the truth is revealed: Celebrían is the daughter of Galadriel and Halbrand. And Celebrían thinks she can bring them back together. Even then, she's frustrated that no-one is telling her the full story. Until they capture Adar.

When Celebrían starts seeing visions, Galadriel knows it's time to leave. She spent all her daughter's life trying to keep her from Halbrand, Sauron, and now she must do everything in her power to keep her safe.

Celebrían finally sees her father for who he truly is, and to prevent war, destruction and death, gives herself up to him in order to end him.

Long ago, the Grand Council decreed that, in order to keep magic in check, all witches and warlocks would have to bind themselves to another. If one died, so did the other.

Evie is a witch who lives alone, deep in the woods, with only her cat Hendricks for company. And she likes it that way. But when a human girl from a nearby village tumbles into her life, desperate to save her friend Aideen from raiders, Evie suspects her past might be catching up with her. Especially when she senses Beckett, the warlock she's tethered to, has broken free from the prison she trapped him in over a century ago.

there's a lot going on in this video, with different threads from the story woven together, so -

jealousy has long existed between brothers evander, orion and ryul. the death of their father, king darius, only heightens that resentment, and more so when evander chooses seraphine, ryul's childhood love, as his bride.

ryul is detemined to forge him own path. his anger is fuelled by nerys, a mage desperate for her people to be free at any cost. magic has been outlawed in meridia, stonehelm and gallia for centuries. anti-mage sentiment is especially strong in gallia, where they capture mages to drain them of their magic to turn into drugs and even weapons. magic can be consumed by non-mages with disastrous consequences.

war is on the horizon. orion lusts for power. killian is addicted to magic. evander tries to play the peacemaker, while ryul rebels. in meridia, eroan and his wife lianna play both sides. in stonehelm, elias tries to protect thalia, a mage running from orion.

in gallia, raelle yearns for revenge on killian, who spurned her for another. another meridian nobleman, corian, vows to save his sister thalia from orion, but doesn't count on falling for ellarian, a spy sent to destroy him. all the while, lianna worries her husband has fallen into darkness, and part of her wants to fall with him.

meanwhile, nerys refuses a peace offer from evander and seraphine, whom she knew as a child. allegra implores elinda, seraphine's sister, not to give into hatred.

tensions rise into all out war between orion and ryul, with evander caught between them. nerys gives into her power to save those she loves. when the dust settles, ryul must pay for what he's done.

so i've decided to do another round of agency submissions with the shadowborn manuscript and suddenly this happened.

aelius is the villain in shadowborn. these events largely don't happen in the novel. he's mainly attracted to her power above all else. so, imagine this has some sort of AU where alais is taken back to luxia.

i've also changed the ages of both alais and tristan in the manuscript, so they're now 21. it makes it less of a ya novel, but some of the themes are quite dark anyway. aelius is around 30.

alais has spent her life under the thumb of the empire, after being smuggled away from her homeland when she was five. she keeps her head down to stay alive. after suffering a tragedy down the mines, she swears to kill emperor marius by any means necessary, even if it means joining a rebel movement. but amongst all of this, alais realises she possesses strange, unearthly powers.

she soon catches the attention of the emperor's brother. he doesn't know why he's drawn to her, only he is. after a failed assassination attempt on the emperor, alais becomes an imperial prisoner and is taken back to luxia. there, aelius is determined to uncover alais' secrets.

i finished the first draft of 'heart of the forest' for nanowrimo this year, and i wrote an epilogue. i knew i wanted to leave the story with the 'next gen' - aerin's niece, daughter of torian and illyria, who is left the throne as an elfling so aerin can abdicate to be with her mortal lover, fintan.

as i was writing the epilogue, plot bunnies for her story flowed.

❖ when rianne comes of age she's given a choice: to stay queen, or to give it up. she desperately wants to do her duty where her beloved aunt did not, but she still looks up to aerin. she worries about repeating her mistakes. to broker peace with war on the horizon, she agrees to marry. her betrothed is the high king of glamis, a rival elven kingdom.

she struggles with this choice. at her side is aevian, torian's nephew. they've known each other since they were elflings. she's been in love with him for years, and never had the courage to tell him. he married another.

when the time comes for her wedding, rianne panics and flees her kingdom, but is captured by the high king of glamis. he's furious she would go back on their deal and imprisons her.

aevian makes it his mission to rescue her.

obviously still working this up, but that's their story so far. i'm also expanding this universe - there will be five elven kingdoms in total, and i already have another story within this universe bubbling

i learned recently that mbl (which i what i partially use to make my fcp colourings) can be run in other editing programs such as sony vegas pro and after effects. now, i don't have svp or ae to test these, so please tell me if they don't work! huge shoutout to maryxstuart who has been kind enough to help me with how this all works :)
