Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Item Lag Montage Czab 2017-06-14 | Deluxe online definitely isn't off to a good start, and the incidents in this video are a big part of the reason why. Players continuously get hit by dragged or rotating items that are very far away from them! This is because hits are determined by the item holder's position - if a collision happens on their screen, the hit happens. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Front-running in a Nutshell Czab 2017-05-09 | Clarification:A couple months after this video, a patch came out that reduced the chance to get a "double coin" item. It also made the player's invincibility period longer (meaning you can't get spammed with red shells like at 1:12).This still doesn't fix the item lag issues like getting hit by a shell from 10 feet away, which is more of a flaw in the netcode itself. Seems like Nintendo is reluctant to put a tad bit of effort into games that are just Wii U ports.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------In Mario Kart 8 for Wii U, some thought it was way too easy for a player to get into first and keep the lead for a whole race. In Deluxe, it's suspected that RNG has changed and first place is no longer privileged with being away from all the action. Incoming red shells seem to be a tad bit more common when front-running in Deluxe.That race on Ribbon Road was driving me nuts, but I still ended up winning. This is most visible in the 200cc class, where the shells travel really slowly after they lock on to a player. I've been the victim of some double snipes, but I haven't been the sniper for a while. During the race, my first thought was that I'd gotten a double snipe, but I then thought Rosalina had been hit by another item. After checking the highlight reel I was surprised to learn of my hits.► I know the highlight reel's camera angle isn't the best...
