mr-fix How to retrofit DIY cup holder #ambient lights & front cubby #LED illumination, enable it with OBDeleven or VCDS in #VW Golf MK7, including coming/leaving home illumination and slider controls from Volkswagen Discover infotainment system screen. This is not just a piggyback connection to footwell lights or dashboard backlight. This was wired as independent BCM (body control module) circuit, coded with it's own controls, brightness, and logic.

ℹ️ This tutorial is based on my own research and documentation that I found related to Audi A3 8V with interior lighting package. Same procedure should work for all other MQB platform vehicles, including Seat Leon MK3 (5F), Skoda Octavia 3 (5E). This tutorial might not be 100% accurate and may be updated in future. I've combined old aluminum bracket that snaps between air vents, with modern MagSafe holder/charger that snaps to your iPhone with magnets and charges the battery wirelessly. Charger is powered from the cabin fuse box, USB-C cable is guided under the dashboard and through the air vent near the phone holder. On top of that I've added CarlinKit 5.0 wired-to-wireless CarPlay adapter under the armrest, which makes sure that I don't need to use any cables. CarPlay will connect without cables, automatically. ℹ️ You need to locate the key symbol somewhere in the vehicle (on the steering column cover, on center console, inside glovebox, in cupholder), place the KESSY key over there, and press the engine start/stop button at the same time. Receiver antenna should pick up the immobilizer signal from the remote and allow to start the engine.

Reboot will take about 1 minute to fully reload all system applications (navigation, radio, parking sensors visualization, bluetooth telephone, media library, radio...). System restart might also be needed after performing coding and adaptation changes.

ℹ️ Look at the Audi Multimedia Interface control panel and press at the same time: control wheel, upper-right button, TONE button. Release and observe the display. When system #reset starts, it should turn dark, close, open about 5 seconds later with the Audi MMI welcome screen. In next seconds all system components will load and system will be ready to use, hopefully with fixed issues.

Golf MK7 Front View Camera, part 3: wiring through firewall

mr-fix 2023-01-01 | Guiding wires through #firewall in VW Golf #MK7 to connect front view camera from the engine bay to MIB2 unit in the cabin. Finding grommet above drivers footwell, adding ground connection for the camera, guiding #wiring to the front grill, accessing back of the VW Infotainment unit (MIB) in the passengers glovebox.

🚗 This project is made in 2015 Volkswagen Golf MK7 with MIB2 Discover Media infotainment system and retrofitted original RVC High camera. This is not a retrofit project, since this functionality was not available in for VW Golf MK7. Some other MQB vehicles had option of 360 AreaView feature with 4 cameras and 3D view. My project is a custom modification that I'm planning to make in my vehicle. I'm just sharing my progress and hope for your input.
