When OW had its 1st beta wave, a lot of TF2 competive players would put "TF2 Pro Plays Overwatch" or some meme like that to get more hits in their stream. Meanwhile, TF2 fans panicked about how all these TF2 players were leaving to go play OW. Eventually after the first wave of hype, TF2 launched its own competitive beta to compete against OW - but is it enough? Thus, this song was butchered & rewritten in order to convey that good ol' OW vs. TF2 jimmy-rustling nerdrage.

Mad props to Doug for mixing this! Big shoutouts as well to Architect, Strash, Met, Speeder, Sedi, Deton, & anybody who's helped with models. You the real Play of the Game. Also, shoutout to Blizzard and Valve. I like both these games, thank you for the betas, and thank you for nerfing Genji.

uberchain 2018-10-18 | With Tip of the Hats' donations and sales closing this Saturday on Oct. 20, I figured I'd upload some things I forgot to upload from the past years after recovering some files. The 2017 intro for Tip of the Hats sees this curious Red Army Robin by the name of Phil stuck in a Tipped Lid a bit too big for his size, but with the help of some old friends (and new ones!), they find Phil the right-sized hat for this year.

The air is humid, the mosquitoes are biting, and angry animal rights activists have hired Australian scientists to breed yetis back into existence. Tip of the Hats 2016 - Ending Credits [SFM]

uberchain 2017-09-20 | With Tip of the Hats this weekend, I figured I would upload last year's outro sequence to my channel. Tip of the Hats is an annual charity video game livestream benefiting Children’s Oncology Services, and has raised $500,000 in total so far for the cause. Camp One Step, one of COSI's projects, sends children diagnosed with cancer to summer camp to help them enjoy being kids. Cancer is a terrible thing that strikes so many people in the worst ways, but no person, let alone a child, should be defined and limited by the disease. Children should be able to enjoy life, even if it's some fun at a dude ranch during the summer.

One almost bumps into a witch, who had just arrived on a bumper car since brooms were, like, so last year. She gets out of the car, and reaches down to pick up one of the unfinished Merasmission scrolls next to a knocked-over gargoyle. It begged the question, "where the actual blue flying @#$% is Merasmus?". She's not pleased, nor are the spirits leaving who just stole her bumper car. (She's not pleased about that either. She bought that car with real money.) The witch decides to find the shitty wizard before next year arrives.

I Hate This Spy Main [Carried OK]

The Spy might be Mr. Newell's favourite class but it sure as hell ain't mine. The mindset of proficient Spy players is akin to a troll: it relies on psychology, prediction & baiting the enemy so they do what you want them to do. It's done differently than a DM class in terms of the mindset. Spies know a backstab based on loose hitbox mechanics will piss off people, or when they've caused enough havoc with rage Pyros or Medics turning around often. This power trip is what fuels players' desire to play Spy, even if you'd rather not. The amount of havoc you can wreak, the salt of the enemy team, will bait you into continuing to ride that power trip.

Respect to Stabby & the Spy Mains btw. There's some things or two I learned about clicking then throwing my mouse to the back of my room to counter the stairstab. Shoutout to Froggoid for teaching me map routes, strafe & snap, and what classes are good to disguise at. That being said my inner Medic - guaranteed victims of knives up their butt - does not approve.

Tip of the Hats 2015 - Ending Credits

uberchain 2015-09-27 | Cancer hits many lives in many unfortunate ways, whether you've fought it or lost somebody close to it. It's easy to be defined or brought down by it - but a person is defined by who they are, not what they have, and they deserve to enjoy life no matter what. This is what One Step Camp aimed for and what Tip of the Hats followed faithfully in. This year with the help of so many viewers, donators and supporters, Tip of the Hats has managed to raise over $200,000 for One Step Camp!

A while back, I remember watching Imagine Dragon’s “Warriors” promotional MV for the 2014 LoL World Championship. I thought it was neat in terms of how their videos like Road to the Cup and Warriors were produced and weaved together for that hype factor. I wanted to do a video like that for TF2: ridiculous as all hell, but awesome enough to get people excited. Eventually, Season 18 of ESEA rolled around with LAN right around the corner, and after picking a song and a theme - as well as a week of hard work and sleep deprivation - me, Dashner and Airon managed to put together our secret Season 18 LAN intro video.

Complete with mildly self-aware lampshading on how much edge is being present here, the video revolves around the theme of how TF2 is struggling - but not dying. Even though there’s a lot of familiar faces disappearing or choosing to hang up their hats and put away their guns, that doesn’t mean the game is gone. People come and go and it’s disheartening - if you choose to fight, then fight as hard as you can. Back your team up, support them through times when it seems tough, learn as much as you can, and aim for better.

Thanks to everybody who liked the intro when it debuted at LAN, I felt like I was at a rock concert! Thanks to Dashner for rendering + editing it all together and helping me through it all when I was pressed for time, thanks to Beater for finding the frag ticks that Dashner needed for the sweet frag montage, thanks to Airon (who I've worked with on Jewel Escapade) for providing the awesome sound mixing, and thanks to Mana for providing the first cut of the Great Divide. Also, massive gg to Gecks and Getawhale for their voices; they've come so far as casters, we're glad to have you on board and we'd love to see you make your way to the top.

[SFM] Dressed to Kill

uberchain 2015-03-20 | Test animation (that took forever to render why don't they manufacture my RAM sticks anymore R I P) with $alpha bodyhacking as well as puppet scripting a bodyhacked model. The model used was built within SFM with about 4 models: Spy's Made Man, Miss Pauling, two copies of Scout's Mom, and a EQG Rarity model for the frills and skirt. A hidden version of Scout's Mom was used as the model puppeteer while everything else was built around the visible version of Scout's Mom. The motion puppeteer was a walk cycle from Alyx's sequences.

Also an excuse to animate Miss Pauling in a fancy dress because Miss Pauling is my wife.

[SFM] Matchmaking?

uberchain 2014-11-05 | A while back around the Scream Fortress update and a little bit before, snooping through the TF2 files lead to some interesting information about a potential skill ranking and matchmaking system. Naturally this lead to immediate pants-shitting from those who played competitive TF2 all over the world, and speculation began. How would it work? Would it be like PUGs/lobbies, or would it have a pick/ban system? The consensus - other than "it's gonna be totally new" - seems to be leaning towards 9v9 Highlander in terms of what Valve would prefer, though there are a few who believe that based on how Arena starts off as well as Mann vs. Machine that a 6v6-esque system would not be completely out of the question. Only time will tell if any of this is confirmed to be true as we slam our bumper cars into each other and wonder why the people we spectate are wearing too many hats.

Also something about tiny turret-spamming construction working dicks and hitbox exploitation-stabbing suit-wearing assholes there was stuff about that too.

A while back I volunteered to make a full-blown anime opening for the Sukeban Boy set in the TF2 Workshop. It didn't get in for Halloween which is a shame since it would have been the greatest butt-rustling of TF2 since the Magical Mercenary. Regardless, I saw to it that this needed to get done no matter how much I may or may not regret this decision in the end.

Huge thank you to SedimentarySocks for allowing me to do this. To everybody else I'm sorry and I will never do it again that's a lie magical girl bullshit is in my blood I'll try to do more than just mahou shoujo plz don't unsubscribe.

EDIT: It's come to my attention a lot of you are asking me why I couldn't do this opening with the Female Scout. Simple: the workshop set is not for the Femscout, it is for the Scout.

Right after the loss, Shade's Twitch stream played sorrowful music, with white text over the middle of his TF2 console displaying 4 words:

But as the music resumed, beginning its climb into a chorus of determination, and with reality of their CEVO match with XTS (which they won, gg was close) and Aug. 28th for the next ESEA match - the Medic main joined a Gravelpit pub, attacked all foes with his crossbow and his Ubersaw, as his 4 words shifted:

[SFM] What Do Friends Do, Miss Pauling?

After realizing that the efforts to cease these sudden Latin rhythms on the battlefield were outnumbered by how many of these dancing mercenaries were capable of being fired, the Administrator allows her secretary and her body cleaner, Miss Pauling, one week off of her regular duties for a new assignment - revisiting and analyzing the foreign, barbaric concept of "friendship" and figuring out what's so fun about it.

PROJECT PURPLE is here after a month in the making. Some animation and scene-building practice was put into this more than anything and it surprisingly took longer than I thought it would for something so simple. I definitely had fun with this, though because of copyrights I will NOT be entering this into the Saxxy's. But now, it's full steam ahead to focus on what sort of dumb thing I'm going to be crapping out for the Saxxy's!
