I've combined old aluminum bracket that snaps between air vents, with modern MagSafe holder/charger that snaps to your iPhone with magnets and charges the battery wirelessly. Charger is powered from the cabin fuse box, USB-C cable is guided under the dashboard and through the air vent near the phone holder. On top of that I've added CarlinKit 5.0 wired-to-wireless CarPlay adapter under the armrest, which makes sure that I don't need to use any cables. CarPlay will connect without cables, automatically. 🛠 Audi A3 Virtual Cockpit firmware update procedure
1. Enter VC hidden menu to check your current firmware version.
2. Find and download desired firmware update for your VC on mibsolution.one (user and password: guest). In my case 8W6906961R AU_C1_AU37X_0150_0742_prod for KI_FPK_AU37X device.
3. Use full-sized quality SD card, format it with FAT32 file system with the smallest allocation size available.
4. Unzip and copy firmware update files to the root directory of the SD card.
5. Remove other cards from the main unit and insert update SD into SD1 port.
6. Take the keyless remote to the receiver on the steering column and turn the ignition on.
7. Enter red hidden menu and start the update procedure.
8. Wait patiently. Virtual Cockpit display will go dark, indicators and warning lights will flash. Main unit will reboot several times before the new firmware is installed.
9. When the installation is complete you can hit "Resume" at the end of the update summary and "Cancel" on the next screen.
10. Use scan tool like OBDeleven or VCDS to clear the B201A / B201A00 fault.
11. Enter VC hidden menu to confirm that new version was installed.
12. Remove SD card, remove the key, remove external power supply.

1. Enter red hidden menu and check your current SW train. Check on mib-helper.com if you have the latest one.
2. Find and download latest supported firmware update for your Audi on mibsolution.one (user and password: guest).
3. Use 8GB or larger SD card, format it with FAT32 file system with the smallest allocation size available.
4. Extract and copy firmware update files to the root directory of the SD card.
5. Remove other cards from the main unit and insert update SD into SD1 port.
6. Disable connection with external audio amplifier
7. Enter red hidden menu and start the update procedure.
8. Wait patiently. Main unit will reboot several times before the new firmware is installed.
9. When the installation is complete you can hit "Resume" at the end of the update summary and "Cancel" on the next screen.
10. Use scan tool like OBDeleven or VCDS to clear the B201A fault.
11. Reconnect MOST connection to external amplifier.
12. Enter red hidden menu to confirm that the update procedure was done.

⚠️ Make sure your cars battery is in good shape, use external power source, or turn the engine on for the update process to make sure that voltage drops will not interrupt firmware update. Also make sure that your touch screen is working correctly.

🛠 Skoda MIB firmware update procedure
1. Enter hidden menu and check your current SW train. Check on mib-helper.com if you have the latest one.
2. Find and download latest supported firmware update for your Skoda on mibsolution.one (user and password: guest).
3. Use 8GB or larger SD card, format it with FAT32 file system with the smallest allocation size available.
4. Extract and copy firmware update files to the root directory of the SD card.
5. Remove SD cards from the main unit and insert update SD into SD1 port.
6. Press and hold MENU button for 3 seconds, select "Software update/versions", "Update", "SD card", select firmware, press "Start" and "Next".
7. Wait patiently. Main unit will reboot 3 times before the new firmware is installed.
8. When the installation is complete you can press the arrow in the upper-right corner, "Cancel". Unit will reboot one final time.
9. Press and hold MENU button to confirm that the unit is running new firmware version now.
10. Use scan tool like OBDeleven or VCDS to clear the B201A fault.

mr-fix 2023-04-24 | How to retrofit DIY cup holder #ambient lights & front cubby #LED illumination, enable it with OBDeleven or VCDS in #VW Golf MK7, including coming/leaving home illumination and slider controls from Volkswagen Discover infotainment system screen. This is not just a piggyback connection to footwell lights or dashboard backlight. This was wired as independent BCM (body control module) circuit, coded with it's own controls, brightness, and logic.

ℹ️ This tutorial is based on my own research and documentation that I found related to Audi A3 8V with interior lighting package. Same procedure should work for all other MQB platform vehicles, including Seat Leon MK3 (5F), Skoda Octavia 3 (5E). This tutorial might not be 100% accurate and may be updated in future. mr-fix 2023-04-17 | Quickly check your engine #code in #VW Golf MK7 without diagnostic interface (OBDeleven or VCDS), without the equipment sticker, without actually looking at the #engine. Just turn the ignition on, press and hold trip reset button, and wait for about 20 seconds for the engine code to appear on the instrument cluster display. In my case it was CRLB. This engine code is 2.0TDI with 110kW/150PS of power.

ℹ️ This tutorial is for VW Golf MK7 and MK7.5 with traditional instrument cluster. Cars with AID/VC will use different method - with hidden service menu in Virtual Cockpit.

Audi A8 D4 (4H) MMI system reset restart force reboot

mr-fix 2023-02-22 | How to reset Audi #MMI 3G+ system in Audi A8/S8 D4 (4H) vehicle. #Restart can fix issues with GPS navigation, touch, system freeze. Reboot will take about 1 minute to fully reload all system applications (navigation, radio, parking sensors visualization, bluetooth telephone, media library, radio...). System restart might also be needed after performing coding and adaptation changes.

ℹ️ Look at the Audi Multimedia Interface control panel and press at the same time: control wheel, upper-right button, TONE button. Release and observe the display. When system #reset starts, it should turn dark, close, open about 5 seconds later with the Audi MMI welcome screen. In next seconds all system components will load and system will be ready to use, hopefully with fixed issues.

Hits hub features MFI chip which allows it to use not only AndroidAuto and MirrorLink but also CarPlay - without the 5Q0035726E long green USB port. HUB features 3 USB connections, 2 of which are available as media playback sources, and 3rd one is for other accessories like D-Link DUB-E100, any AndroidAuto device, USB storage with maps (if CID lock is removed).

ℹ️ Installation required adding fuse to the cabin fusebox, replacing the 5Q0035726E USB port with standard one, repining HSD (High Speed Data) fakra connector, changing coding and adaptation values of the MIB2 Main Unit (0x5F).

Car equipped with front-facing multifunction camera can be coded with #LaneAssist that will keep the car on your lane when you don't touch steering wheel for couple seconds. This coding procedure will turn on the feature in the camera and steering, also add option to the instrument cluster and adjustment settings on the infotainment screen.

Golf MK7 Front View Camera, part 3: wiring through firewall

mr-fix 2023-01-01 | Guiding wires through #firewall in VW Golf #MK7 to connect front view camera from the engine bay to MIB2 unit in the cabin. Finding grommet above drivers footwell, adding ground connection for the camera, guiding #wiring to the front grill, accessing back of the VW Infotainment unit (MIB) in the passengers glovebox.

🚗 This project is made in 2015 Volkswagen Golf MK7 with MIB2 Discover Media infotainment system and retrofitted original RVC High camera. This is not a retrofit project, since this functionality was not available in for VW Golf MK7. Some other MQB vehicles had option of 360 AreaView feature with 4 cameras and 3D view. My project is a custom modification that I'm planning to make in my vehicle. I'm just sharing my progress and hope for your input.
