I'm not entirely happy with the polishing, I think I miss wet sand paper from 800 to 3200 between the dry sandpaper (up to 320) and the polishing compound. That's the reason why I had to use varnish. I'll have to try again.

My CNC is an Aureus 3X from Euro Makers, an aluminium hobby CNC similar to an X-Carve or a Shapeoko. Most of my videos are about all my experiments to reproduce what the masters of CNC inmlays on Youtube make (for me, @mtmwood and @Broinwood ) but with a light hobby CNC, coping with less speed and rigidity. I'm still very far behind them but I get a little bit better at each try. :)
For this project you will need a table saw, a planer (thicknesser) and a sander. A palm router and a CNC are optional but useful.

The board is made of Iroko, with Beech and Padauk inlays. Those are deep inlays (9mm). The design is made with Vectric VCarve.

It could have damaged my CNC.
So I need a way to keep track of the total working time of my spindle and my CNC as a whole, so I know when to replace "consumables" and perform maintenance.
Here is how to make an hour meter for a CNC whose 110-220V spindle is controlled by the CNC ( = you don't switch it ON and OFF manually). If you have a manually started spindle check this wiring diagram instead: images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31cNG8EnTIL._AC_.jpg

Dans cette video youtube.com/watch?v=cEmyNybhNG8 je vous décrivais le montage de l'upgrade de l'axe Z sur mon Euro Makers Aureus 3X. Je concluais que, malgré une amélioration par rapport à l'origine, les roulements linéaires du bloc-guide avaient un peu de jeu.
Euro Makers m'a envoyé la nouvelle version de ce bloc-guide, avec des guides linéaires en Vesconite en lieu et place des roulements linéaires.
Testons cela et mesurons si cela fait une différence...

For a long time I've been searching for the best method to make deep but detailed v-carved inlays in end-grain cutting blocks and other pieces. I'm still learning but I wish I had found a detailed tutorial that would have saved me a lot of time and waste. So I made one (there is a French version here: youtu.be/P1nbIjlBYG4 ).
I've used a lof of schematics and examples to explain start depth, flat depth, bit angles, glueing, etc. I've tried to cover all the bases! Feel free to follow along and do your own v-carved Youtube button!

This time I go to the dark side and make a much bigger (470x290x45mm) "First Order" cutting board. It is made of end-grain beech with inlays in padauk and iroko (also end-grain).
For this project, I used Vectric VCarve and a Euro Makers Aureus 3X CNC, which is similar to an X-Carve or a Shapeoko. I've inserted a picture of each bit used at every carving step.
The video is rather long, sorry, but as there are overlapping inlays, there are lots of steps.
