If you want to improve your filmmaking, we're making a series for you. In the next 8 videos we are going to walk you through the process of taking a video concept and making a film.
In the past we've had a lot of you ask about some of the fundamentals of filmmaking. In the past, we've also worked with teachers to try and get their students to make videos with science topics. The only problem teachers have had is that they aren't necessarily the experts at making films. Their students quickly ask questions about the filmmaking process that they can't answer. We wanted to create a comprehensive series that teachers, students and the average beginner can use to start a film project.
I'd like to dedicate this video to the encouragement of all of you who donated to our campaign to create useful videos for schools and teachers. While we didn't raise enough to make a year of videos, I was motivated by people like David Kroll to try and enable all of you to make your own videos. Share them with teachers and let's make sure upcoming filmmakers have the knowledge they need to make change in the world.
We are now able to finish this series and do it all under the umbrella of the Our Rock Project (http://ourrockproject.org), an organization dedicated to STEAM education via filmmaking projects by students. If you're planning on doing this with classrooms, I'd encourage you to check that program out. For the rest of you that aren't in a school, I think you'll learn a lot from this program as well.

Many people have asked if I could explain how I do it and even though I've hinted at it a few times in past videos, I have a brand new workflow that I would like to share. I would call this a form of whiteboard-style animation, mostly because it was made famous by people simply drawing on whiteboards or white papers. However, you can adjust the technique now to your needs. All you need is a basic drawing technique and you can create animations just like this.
