StoneAgeManThis week I exported out my beard-growth time-lapse and had few bigger questions - What does it mean to get older and how should we best think about getting older. Most of the reason for this is because I really think there is something wrong that could help us all as individuals as we get older.
Let me know what you think as well in the comments below. What else would you add? Do you also feel old when you're not that old?

Much like a shaman guides people through a journey to understand themselves, so too do some modern doctors. In this case I visited Dr. Koniver in Charleston to see what is really going on with this breakthrough new treatment for depression, anxiety and PTSD.
I'm doing all this because my wife Haley, was taken their 6 months ago to help get her out of own depression. It worked and I feel like I should tell the story to everyone because I have the amazing person I married back.
Some warnings: It doesn't work for everyone and it shouldn't be for everyone. If you are interested in this, there are lots of great science papers on it. Your doctor can easily look up the safety and efficacy of it. Ask them first. It is a new treatment though so they may not know about it right away. Then, if you are still interested in 3 good shorts, watch this playlist, which I curated for you.

I had no idea that in the course of the life of this flower that life would change so rapidly. This time-lapse was more work than I planned, but I think it's a fun watch in these somewhat uncertain times.
Let me know what flower or seed you'd like me to time-lapse next in the comments below!
BIGGEST THANKS TO: Jeff Osborne / Tomas Huntley / Matthias Metzger and Coriolis films - UGH, the final slate was under my final timelapse and it didn't show up in the physical video. You're my lead patrons. Thank you so much.

My role, to communicate what was happening with these "Radioactive Wolves." The problem, we never cleared up what was happening with them. We left it hanging. I wanted to set the story straight here.

Making your own cordage/rope (I use them interchangeably), is one of the easiest things to do in the wild if you know how. I'm going to demonstrate here the reverse wrap and show how to peel the inner bark (phloem layers) from a vine.

However, I bet most people have no idea what is really neat about this plant. That's what I tried to show here. We did get fairly lucky by finding the mother-load of wisteria vine patches! It's really an amazing plant.

Help us create amazing, world reaching content by translating and transcribing videos on our channel: http://bit.ly/2CrnjguOne small thing helping wildlife conservation today... (Not with coronavirus directly)StoneAgeMan2020-03-26 | Coronavirus has brought up some issues around human-wildlife interactions. Could this pandemic be one solution to wildlife conservation of certain animals? Probably.
If I've learned anything about conserving animals though, is that there are thousands of solutions and there is nothing that's black and white. We all need to think outside of the box if we're going to make an impact.
So this story, is a success story. It's not directly related to what's happening in the pandemic, other than it made it more difficult to shoot. But it is a great example of how a group of people are helping with something that seems so simple. I think we can all learn from this. Maybe it'll allow others to think about alternatives to our current approaches in the other areas that need our attention.
Stay healthy and stay in if you can. Thanks always for watching the videos I put out. I'll probably be able to put out a few more in the coming months, as I lost all my current storytelling jobs. Literally this pandemic is shutting all of my travel down. But that's cool (I guess), because I still have a lot to share.
Because of that I want to give a big shoutout to all current and future patrons who are helping fund this science and filmmaking outreach via patreon: http://bit.ly/2Sfmkph - While the number is still small, it does allow me to keep moving forward on this platform. That's amazing.

I sat on this video for over a month now, trying to figure out if I should even release a video that essentially falls into the category of "Bio about Me." But, I thought, should I fall ill or should my parents fall ill, I'd probably want them to see this. So, I'm not sure who this is for, but I'm putting it out anyhow. Stay safe everyone!

But, I've found many people mistake certain plants for clovers. Today we're looking at the basics of the clover and finding a way to do something useful and fun with the kids on this day in quarantine.

I made this short film at the New England Aquarium and was pretty amazed at how much everyone cares. I see this all the time with zoos and aquariums, but marine mammal folks really are one of the nicest groups. I hope this short was able to show that.

The whole thing was setup by my wonderful friends at the Jones Center at Ichauway, who is dedicated to doing great conservation in Longleaf pine forests. I've been out here before looking at the fire they use to promote diversity in the habitat. Now, I got the opportunity to go with them on one of the traditional quail hunts that essentially started this entire movement.

Jonas and I are creating a whole series of how-to-filmmaking videos to get you started. Here is the first video: http://bit.ly/2AcYvHJ and our book: http://amzn.to/2zV88LSTaut line Hitch: The Camping Knot SeriesStoneAgeMan2020-01-11 | The taut line hitch is a friction-type hitch that can be tied on a rope that is under tension. It's also an adjustable knot. That makes is a useful camping knot, especially when rain-flies for tarps are being tied down.
The taut line hitch, however, should not be used if there is considerable strain on the rope, since there is the potential that it could slip under large forces. Taut line knots should also only be used in ropes that handle bends and turns easily. Many of the newer ropes, like climbing ropes, do not hold the taut line hitch well. Feel free to use the time-codes here to skip the the pertinent section of the video:
