This is an early Blocking pass for a test from Zootopia that I animated in pre-production to help find specific mannerisms and expressions for Clawhauser that we could possibly use in production. Zootopia was an interesting animation challenge to have anthropomorphic animal characters still feel like specific quadruped animals, while not looking like a human in an animal suit. I tried sneaking in a little cat-like mannerism towards the end of the scene where his paws ball up into a little grooming pose near his face. (Something I observed many times having had two cats of my own.) The trick, I found, was that if you could find an animal pose in nature to double as an anticipation or some human gesture, it would read a lot better.
