CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — After months of public hearings and strong opposition from residents, a proposed strip mine in Jackson Township took a major turn Wednesday night when the Jackson Township Zoning Hearing Board voted to deny Robindale Energy’s requests to move the project forward.

The proposed project would have allowed Latrobe-based Robindale Energy to surface mine a wooded area in Jackson Township, a plan that drew concerns from nearby residents about drinking water, traffic, blasting and quality of life.
