ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Emergency officials in Blair County have confirmed a reported train derailment at the historic Horseshoe Curve in Altoona.

Blair County EMA also confirmed that multiple fire departments were dispatched to the scene to check for potential hazards.

Officials say the scene is now being handled by Norfolk Southern.

According to dispatch audio from Norfolk Southern, at least a dozen cars derailed and was captured on camera in front of the historic site's visitor center.

While additional details are limited at this time, this marks the third derailment on or near the Curve this year.
