Backpacking the Hardest Trail in Olympic National Park! Miranda Goes Outside!! 2026-07-29 | *This video is sponsored by LMNT! The trail journeys steeply up, totaling 3300 feet of gain in just 2.2 miles one way. But the elevation gain is not the only obstacle. To reach Lake Constance you must begin crawling over and under trees downed in a wildfire years ago, and then snake your way ever upward through a dense forest, only to reach a series of vertical cliffs you must ascend extremely carefully. On this final section one mistake could be fatal, and the trail is more like rock climbing than hiking. But the reward at the end of this trail is a gorgeous sapphire blue alpine lake perched beneath the peaks of stunning mountains! I Tried SUPER Ultralight Backpacking! Miranda Goes Outside!! 2025-08-31 | *Thank you to Lectric for sponsoring this video! It's been a while since I tried new backpacking gear on a trip, and so for this video I decided to try the lightest gear I have ever tested! With an under 7 pound base weight, and an under 15 pound total pack weight, I set off on an iconic loop in the remote Sawtooth Mountains of central Idaho. I was able to fit all my gear for this 23 mile loop into just a single 25 liter daypack!! But to achieve such a super ultralight pack this meant major sacrifices. I had no tent with me, just a basic ultralight tarp shelter to hopefully protect from rain and storms, and no stove, requiring me to cold soak all my meals. Typically gear this light is reserved for the warmest and best conditions, so when rain and thunder arrived I knew I'd be pushing this gear to the limit. Although small and remote, Stehekin, WA is a bit of a legend. If you’ve hiked the PCT, you know this place. For most of year there are no grocery stores, bars, restaurants, or shops of any kind open in Stehekin. There are no roads you can drive to reach the town either, the nearest road connecting you to the rest of the world ends well over 20 miles away. The only way to get to this hiker paradise hidden under the North Cascades? A long boat ride up one of the country’s largest and deepest lakes, or several days of intense hiking. It's spring which in Washington State means unpredictable weather, and a challenging situation for most backpackers. In the valleys and on the coasts the weather is warm and inviting, but up in the mountains winter continues and the snow is soft, deep and avalanche prone. Many backpackers wait impatiently for the snow to melt, and most will be waiting until almost July! Finding a traversable trail can be tough. Nevertheless I was desperate to get out backpacking for my first trip of spring and so uper last minute I chucked all my gear into my pack, hit the road up into the Cascade mountains near where I live, and arrived at the trail fairly late in the afternoon.
