I Try an Exoskeleton to Hike Grand Canyons Rim to Rim Eric Hanson 2025-05-04 | I try the new Hypershell X to hike one of the most demanding routes in the Grand Canyon. With the most common route closed, I try an even more challenging route, hiking down New Hance and out the Grandview trail. It's a monster effort and should only be tried by experienced Grand Canyon and/or desert hikers. I've been wanting to test this new exoskeleton technology that supposedly assists hikers to go farther and faster. I just had to get my hands on a set and see what they can really do.A note on the battery life for the exoskeleton, this challenging route should be manageable with 3 batteries. If the hiking route is steep like the Grand Canyon, the battery will drain faster than on more mild terrain. The Hypershell X MotionEngine detects user's movements and will automatically give you more assistance on uphills. Trying a route of this nature should only be attempted by people fit enough to accomplish this without the use of the exoskeleton. With the bad news comes some hope, the canyons that have been submerged and buried in mud and silt are starting to come back. 21 Days at the Bottom of the World - Silent Hiking Patagonia Eric Hanson 2025-02-10 | I spent three weeks hiking across southern Argentina and Chile, a region known as Patagonia that is famous for it's rugged landscapes and incredibly harsh weather. On the Argentine side, we trekked through Glaciers National Park under the towers of Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy, camping on the edge of Lago Torre where ice runs aground on the lake shore. We also hiked a portion of the W circuit in Torres Del Paine in Chile, a starkly different side of the Andes despite being just on the other side of the divide from El Chalten. For anyone wanting to hike in one of the world's most epic locations, Patagonia is the place to go. My wife @kristirauckis and I compiled our ambient footage from this wild trip into this film. But this volcanic mystery might be the strangest part of a state full of oddities. There are hundreds of volcanoes in Arizona, but they don't make sense. They really shouldn't be here at all. Most volcanoes pop up along fault lines and areas with a lot of seismic activity. But Arizona isn't near any fault, which makes the hundreds of volcanoes all the more perplexing. The biggest of them all, the San Francisco Mountain, used to be over 16,000 feet tall. But this stratovolcano collapsed and lost a huge chunk of its impressive height. So, what happened?
