President Volodymyr Zelensky has set an extraordinary new objective: increase Ukraine’s long-range campaign from more than 300 drones per day to 1,000. This would not simply produce larger attacks. It could transform Ukraine’s occasional mass raids into continuous industrial pressure against Russian refineries, military facilities, transportation networks, ports, and export infrastructure.
I examine whether Ukraine can realistically achieve this scale, how Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara and commander Mykhailo Drapatyi fit into Ukraine’s evolving military system, and why inexpensive drones are forcing NATO countries to reconsider their expensive defense models.
