This is a speedrun I did of this (in)famous CD-i Zelda game. As with The Faces of Evil, some of the cutscenes are very well-known on Youtube - and yet again, they're all skippable :p

My setup was basically the same as the other CD-i run - same emulator, same mouse control scripts, same timing. This game actually runs on the same gameplay engine; the game's visuals, item effects, item locations, and enemy types are different, but a lot of the core mechanics are the same.

As with The Faces of Evil, this is a pretty tough game. It felt quite a bit harder to do a casual playthrough (although for speedrunning it's pretty similar). A lot of enemies at the very start drop nothing. A lot more ropes are needed - one early area requires three to get up to a boss that can kill you in one hit. Areas with birds, falling rocks, and falling icicles (in the final level) are generally pretty tough to get through on low health, and of course it takes a while before you can get the first heart piece. The blue ground enemies not only follow you around and respawn right next to you, but can also deal a ton of damage. Unlike in The Faces of Evil, the wallmasters and flaming barrels can't be killed, so you either have to dodge them, suck up the damage, or spend 20 rubies making yourself invisible. Of course, you still only have three lives, and you don't find hearts just laying around.

This run was pretty good. The middle went pretty fast and I don't think I had to repeat anything big, and I also spent very little time getting extra rubies and items. The Gleeok part about 30 minutes in was pretty lucky - I ran out of bombs, which you'd normally use to kill him, and I didn't even know if the Power Glove could kill him, but I tried (with only enough rubies to use it once!) and fortunately it worked. In the final level I was pretty nervous since I forgot to go fill my canteen with water of life (which would give me 5ish hearts of extra health) but I ended up playing it safe and not having to worry. In either of these cases being sent back would probably have cost several minutes.

I'm probably done with CD-i runs for now, as the emulator won't properly run the other two games I was considering. Hope you enjoyed watching these awful Legend of Zelda titles get beaten pretty fast :)
