Stray Along The Way | Zambezi Shark Encounter on GoPro during Kayak Tour of Lake St Lucia @Strayalongtheway | Uploaded September 2016 | Updated October 2024, 39 minutes ago.
Jill and I recently went out on a kayak tour with St Lucia Kayak Safaris on the Lake St Lucia Estuary section of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.
Ordinarily you expect to come across dangerous animals like crocodiles and hippos, however, we never expected to encounter a Zambezi (Bull) Shark on our trip!!
Zambezi Sharks use the Lake St Lucia Estuary as a nursery for their young, however, as the mouth of the estuary has been closed to the sea for nearly 9 years, the young sharks have been unable to return to the sea and have made this lake their home.
Check out what an encounter with this apex predator looks like from a kayak.
