Can a teenager with zero 3D printing experience build a complex 3D printer and get a perfect first print? 🤔 Let’s find out! As we continue setting up our new cabin workshop, I challenged my assistant Zak – a complete 3D printing novice – to assemble the Bambu Lab A1 Combo 3D printer entirely on his own with only minimal guidance. The Bambu Lab A1 Combo (printer + AMS Lite multi-material unit) is touted as one of the best beginner 3D printers – it’s fast, mostly pre-calibrated, and designed to be user-friendly. But can a total newbie really handle the setup and produce a successful print?
Zak dives in and builds the printer surprisingly well (though not without a few hiccups and funny mistakes along the way 😅).
