Our long-time friend Ron Burch took Allison and me to Yuri's Night at the California Science Center in LA to celebrate 52 years of manned spaced flight since Yuri Gagarin first orbited the Earth in 1961. It was a hoot. We met a lot of fun and interesting people and shared our common interests in technology, astronomy, space travel, Star Trek, and general geekiness.
The center piece of the event was the space shuttle Endeavour which is currently positioned horizontally in a temporary location. She will remain horizontal until 2017 when they complete the structure to mount it vertically with an external tank and a pair of solid rocket boosters.
