This is the earliest footage I have of Yuri in competition, yet this was already his 3rd European championships. As ever, his free skating is exhilarating and his jumps huge, but it wasn't enough to rescue him from a poor figures placement. You have to love his personality while waiting for his marks!

The commentator is Dr Eva Pawlik, 1949 European Champion and 1948 Olympic silver medallist; the worlds first female sports commentator.
