The brilliant Robin Cousins, aged only 18 here and before he went to Carlo Fassi, delivered a stunning free skate with five triples to Three Blind Mice which, according to press reports of the time, was performed before nine blind judges, such were his low marks compared to many skaters above him who did not skate to anywhere near this level. He is coached here by the legendary Gladys Hogg and while his skating would develop beyond recognition over the next four years, this is still a very rare glimpse at an absolutely standout performance in his amateur career.
